First, Charlie Davies is a jack wagon fuck wit. He's incorrect, first and foremost, then on top of hit he mentions Guardiola which is misleading. Berhalter made 3.6 times more money than the women's coach. I assume it was the women's fault Berhalter got his ass out coached most of the time he was in Qatar too, because it's their fault the men can't hire a coach? I don't understand Charlie's angle here.

Second, they were probably going to have a hard time getting Pellegrino Matarrazzo to leave Hoffenheim with two years left on his deal and he has connections to America. Who in their right state of lucid mind thinks that Pep Guardiola is going to leave City with two years left on HIS deal to coach the USMNT? I'm not going to make this conversation/post about him, but if he leaves the club scene and goes to a national team, it's probably going to be one of the ones in Europe. I feel like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City equate to Guardiola being rather carefully selective about the jobs he takes.

Third, what irritates me the most about all of this was why wouldn't you just extend Berhalter from the get go and bring him back in the first place? What was the point of all of this? Who did they think they had a legitimate shot at? Marsch is essentially out at Leicester, Celtic, etc. He's actually available right now and has experience managing in Europe. If not him, who else was looked at? because we're right back to where we started from. Had a chance to start fresh, and ultimately this feels like the entire process was a sham, and on top of it you have a pundit trying to misdirect accountability for it to the women's team.

Last night was a shit show and was a combination of a couple things. It starts with CONCACAF's ineptitude like any other governing body in this sport. It's probably time that the sport goes to 5 officials. Three with a 4th clearly isn't enough trying to maintain 22 on the field and the touchline, and fan behavior post Covid is becoming an issue more often than not regardless of where you are on the globe. Two on the pitch, two linesmen and the fifth is between the two benches. Last night was basically the Final because Mexico was beat and goaded us, and it was deliberate. It's easier said than done, but you have to keep your cool in those situations when you are the ones with anything to lose. Mexico was toast and they instigated our boys into red cards.

Another rotten performance from Ireland. That's the Euros down the drain.

I am on the record as not being a Berhalter fan but Pulisic after the game last night dedicated it to him:

That's good enough for me.

It’s a feel good story, but players shouldn’t pick coaches. I think we’re all well versed in that. The fact that keeping equal pay for the Women’s coach was a factor at all shows how much the people pushing equity have lost touch with reality.

All that hype behind Canada just for them to get dogwalked. Best US performance in a long time. Would be really excited about what's to come if this wasn't on the back of the GB re-appointment.

Agreed! I’m all for having a potent exciting offense but man i always love watching a defense dominate. Scally, Robinson and Richards were the best players on the field last night. Probably would have put Reyna in there too if he hadn’t went off due to injury.

I love the way the team played under Callaghan. The looked much more comfortable and fluid then at any point under Berhalter. I’d rather he be the coach right now than him.

I enjoyed the consistently good performance against good teams. It seemed they have been up and down in the recent past.

Also was digging the lineup for MX & switches such as Aaronson in for Dest v Canada.

On a side note, I thoroughly enjoyed Scotland rallying for a win against Norway. That was worth the wait having watched most of that match.

I thought Croatia was going to get UEFA Nations League. So close.

Dest was red-carded out and wasn't Scally playing in his spot? I think Aaronson was playing in McKennie's spot last night.

Aaronson was playing in his spot yes but very different roles. Stopping Davies was plan 1 and IMO was part of the problem with the build up play was that. They chose quick transition to bypass the midfield and it worked well most of the time. Does show depth of the squad when "backups" can shut down the best player in the region.

United will be back to a juggernaut in 3 years if this deal happens. They just reported record revenue and they haven't won the league in a decade.

Ugh, as a fan, i'd rather see Sir Jim Ratcliffe. We'll see, both parties have felt confident at times it sounds like.

I really don’t understand the whole sportswashing thing. All it does is bring more attention to the negative aspects of these governments.

To informed westerners yeah but everyone else around the world seems to have no problem hence it exists

The governing bodies of the sport don't care. Or they're always behind and can't react fast enough.

they dont care. its easier for FIFA to deal with dictatorships and despots than democratic governments
"The governing bodies of the sport don't care"

I think we're clear on this?

In the case of the EPL, it begins with the English FA. Then UEFA. Then you have FIFA at the top of the pyramid. Each Football Association/Federation has the ability to set rules and precedent. England, right now, is where all the money is. It's just the start.

Manchester United have spent over $2 billion in transfers since the Glazers took over. Why do people act like this club has been hard done? They've overpaid for mid tier talent.
