Sadly probably true. I did pull a few things from Wiki, but most of it I learned from his A&E documentary that came out. I grew up watching Hogan, Piper, and these guys with my old man, then watched it off and on till the late 90s wrestling boom, then quit watching around 2011ish. I've been rewatching a lot of old PPVs recently on Peacock since WWE is free on there now, and I've caught a few of the big PPVs recently like WrestleMania and Royal Rumble.

Wrestling's not quite the same today. Wrestling died a bit for me when a lot of the old guys retired like HBK, Taker, HHH, etc. There's a few guys today like Seth Rollins that are entertaining and can put on a good match, but I find a lot of these meat heads with limited movesets and a lack of actual wrestling ability just make for poor entertainment. Roman Reigns falls into that category, along with Bron Strowman, and even Brock Lesnar. Lesnar was great when he was younger, flexible, and athletic. These days he's all suplexes like Scott Steiner.

Heck yeah. Takes me back to Wrestle Mania VIII at The Hoosier Dome. Good times.

Wish I still had them as my grandson would be throwing Hogan elbows from the top rope.

I think you hit the nail on the head here in many respects.

I went to Wrestlemania 2 in Chicago when I was 8 years old. I was hooked from that point forward. WWF, NWA, AWA, UWF, World Class Championship Wrestling. On weekends I always had something on. I could set a VCR and would tape anything I could. Fell off a little bit and then got back into it in the late 90s in college with Stone Cold, The Rock and nWo.

I now know that there are old PPVs on Peacock and I hate you for that. And I hate myself knowing what lies in store.

I just got done watching all the Royal Rumbles from the first till today. So many good ones, especially between '94-'10. I love when a surprise wrestler returns or a legend comes up out of nowhere. The Legends usually get thrown out pretty quick, but it's worth it for the pop they get. The '22 Rumble was just completely atrocious, stay away from that steaming pile of garbage.

My buddy has a lot of the old WWF VHS tapes and still watches them regularly. He’s kind of odd though too.

Always liked the Rumble and Survivor Series.

With NWA, I was a huge fan of War Games.

I did have a dozen or so old PPVs on VHS/DVD years ago, but these days with the free WWE on Peacock there's no point in keeping those. PPVs are great to watch during a lunch period because matches are typically about 15-25 minutes long, so you can get 1-2 in while you're eating.

My buddy owned a prototype of these that was originally made for Srgt Slaughter. He ended up selling it for $60,000+ to a guy in Canada. You can see it here, Zack Ryder (AKA Matt Cardona) and Curt Hawkins visited his toy store to check it out in a WWE segment.

I used to love wrestling growing up. HH, Pipers Pit, Snuka. I never realized how little money those guys made for being so popular. Used to see the Iron Shiek working the door at my friends bar in the city regularly. Real nice guy.

Some guys did make very little. Guys like Hogan would bring in the lion's share of the ticket sales, and rightfully so I guess since he put the butts in the seats back then. Guys like Kamala the Ugandan Giant, who had a decent few runs with the WWE and had a good character, would get paid $10,000 for the biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania, while his opponent would get $500,000. $10,000 is a lot for a big event obviously, but some of that had to go to their expenses too and that was also the biggest event of the year. They got far less for house shows and smaller PPVs. Kamala actually slept in his rental car between shows to save money. Due to Diabetes later in life Kamala would lose both of his legs, wouldn't be able to afford his taxes, and used to craft and sell wooden chairs to make ends meet.

Back around '69 when I was is in HS, I convinced my friends to go to a wrestling match. We're on the floor level about 20-25 rows back. This guy close to us keeps telling us he's going to punch out Black Jack Lanza. He keeps telling us this throughout the night but we keep laughing at him. Well Black Jacks match is over and he's walking down the aisle when this nut jumps over a couple of rows of chairs, runs down to the aisle and punches Black Jack in the face! Black Jack barely flinched and before Black Jack could do anything, security was hauling the guy out of the building. lol

The Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, was found dead in his prison cell just after midnight this morning. He was 81. He'd been moved to a different Federal prison in late '21 due to health issues, and his death appears to be from natural causes

Pretty sure Robert Hansen... FBI double agent just died as well.
