Umpire has been suspended indefinitely. Rung him up on a ball that was literally 18-24 inches off the plate to end the game.
Wagner is a HOFer IMO. I think his son is playing pro ball now…another reminder that I’m old.Bruce Sutter: 300 saves, 861 strikeouts, 879 hits allowed.
Billy Wagner: 422 saves, 1,196 strikeouts, 601 hits allowed.
This.Regardless both are HOFers.

The Mets shouldn’t have to pay him and I am not a Mets fan.
Who’s to say it wouldn’t have happened in Spring Training? Gavin Lux blew his knee out in a ST game & is out for the season.
It’s not good to take joy in injuries,…….. usually.Altuve out with a broken finger.
That was legit the most hyped I’ve been during a ball game in years,… felt like the 2000s post season Angels intensity. I jumped out my seat when Turner hit the home run
The thought that these are meaningless game is laughable to me. The injuries suck, of course, but for a sport that has struggled to grow the game the WBC produced entertaining/exciting games using the old rules. That doesn't look like a "meaningless game".
Seriously, this has been awesome.
Ohtani vs Trout was one for the ages. Just outstanding.
Did you see those pitches??? Ohtani was saving something special. Trout almost never strikes out on three swing and misses,…If you are rooting for Japan. Trout looked lost.

This is pretty good I think.
The slider that ended up getting him? Mental. I'm sure a lot of people think that DiMaggio or Ted Williams would've railed that pitch 450 feet, though.
he was named to the All-Tournament team…one of only 2 US players…so to me it just reinforces that hitting a round ball w/ a round bat squarely is still the hardest thing to do in sports. Japan scattered 9 hits as the US only scored twice on solo shots. Trout just needs to stay healthy and he’ll be fine.He struck out earlier in the game against a mid level pitcher that showed him up.
And for the record I am as big of a Trout Fan as anyone. I wish he played in the east coast so we could watch him more.
Agreed. Watching that final at-bat, Trout was struggling to catch up to the fastball & by the look on his face…the pitches likely looked even faster than the 100 mph they were clocking. My guess is he wasn’t going to get beat on strike 3 so he locked in on dead red fastball. Slider was the perfect pitch & Trout never had a chance. Any casual fan who says Trout is a loser needs to watch baseball and recall that succeeding only 30% of the time can get a player inducted in the HOF as one of the greatest of all time. Trout will be fine.I heard on the drive into work today that the last pitch literally broke the pitch grading scale. A 'perfect pitch' is graded as an 80... Ohtani's slider that struck out Trout, apparently, graded at 81 plus.... but Trout is a fuckin loser for not hitting it.
Speaking of tired narratives I'm so tired of the 'Trout is being wasted' stuff..., especially from fans of teams like the Red Sox who wasted the entire career of Ted Williams by their own logic... no one says Bonds was wasted on the Giants, Jr. wasted on the M's... etc, etc... but social media makes meat headed group-think morons out of us.
