Cooley listed his home for sale so appears Gtown won’t be in the running for Shrewsberry
Cooley is definitely getting out at the right time regardless of where he's going. He had the two down Covid years and then had back to back 20+ win seasons. Time to roll. All Georgetown needs to do is get a few elite kids from the DMV every year to be a top 25 program. It’s a much higher ceiling job than Providence.

I am really set on ND getting Shrewsberry somehow. I am going to be let down aren't I?
So Devries then....Oh you can book it.

Not if Langel is going to Temple. If Wichita St doesn’t gobble him up. I have a bad feeling it’s gonna be Langel.

What's the deal with Sweeney with the Mavs?

FWIW. I don’t know who this source is. Just sharing cause it popped on my timeline.

I don't see it. PSU and ND can substantially outbid PC, and have better resources. The only advantage PC has is that MBB is the #1 dog there while it's essentially an afterthought at PSU and ND. I realize he has ties to Stevens, but Stevens isn't going to be his boss, and ultimately I don't get the impression their relationship would be damaged by Shrewsberry saying "thanks, but I think my opportunity at spot x is a better short and long term fit at this point in my coaching career." But there's also now a question of how much is ND willing to spend? If the $6 million per that's being reported for Cooley is accurate, you have to think Shrews is going to cost somewhere near that. I'm not sure ND is willing to go there for what is ultimately a second-tier position in the athletics hierarchy at the university.
One of the questions I have is whether Shrews has any ties to ND from his days coaching at IUSB. I have to imagine he would have met Brey at some point, but I can't find anything that suggests they remained in contact over the years.
I realized the post suggested that, so I edited it.U think Shrewsberry is gonna cost near the same as Cooley? That’s quite the take.

I think he's looking at closer to $4 million per, to be honest. He's already making north of $2 million, and now it's clear his services are in demand by multiple schools. I have a hard time believing a "long term, lucrative" extension as was reported was being prepared by PSU would be substantial enough at $3 million to scare off other suitors. He might be around half that per year.

Generally I'd agree, but there are 4 schools from major basketball conferences (meaning the power 5 plus Big East) in need of a coach (taking SJU out of it since it sounds like Pitino is going to be the guy, but adding Texas Tech despite the fact I doubt he would go there), and I'd guess he's the most in-demand of the current batch of candidates. I'm not sure it's a great move to spend that on him...but I don't know how rational the MBB coaching market actually is. Like I said, Cooley at $6 million seems insane to me, but maybe that's a reflection of a raise plus the added cost of living in the DMV area as compared to RI.Could be right but I just don’t see him making $4 mill considering there’s only about 10 coaches who are currently making 4+.

Quick, but not as quick as Ricky in an empty Italian restaurant. Buy-out on the backend is probably higher, too.St. John's did the deal with the devil. Pitino now official.
