I think from what I can parse out - Democrats created the KKK, and then therefore anyone who votes Democrat now is supporting that history. The socialist tree hugers increased the military budget and have gotten engage in another military conflict.

What a load of horse manure. Most of the Dixiecrats stayed in the Democratic party. Wallace and Byrd certainly did. Yes, Thurmond and a few others changed parties, but most didn't. When they were voting against the CRA and VRA and promoting violence and segregation, they were (and mostly remained) Democrats. That party you so adore. You think a few decades of pandering erases the shameful history of your party?

You think racism is still a problem? OK, then since the Democratic party was the party of slavery, the Klan, segregation, George Wallace, Robert Byrd, ran all the cities, counties, states and law enforcement agencies that turned dogs and firehoses on Blacks and enforced Jim Crow laws, and comprised virtually every single member of the Klan that terrorized them for decades, how about YOU fix it and apologize instead be a hypocritical ass and lecturing the rest of us about anything. With statements like that, I find it difficult to believe that Lott had a problem with the segregationist/white supremacy portion of the Democratic party. Strom Thurmond after all, ran for president in 1948 when the Dixiecrats walked out of the convention after Truman added a civil rights plank to the Democratic platform.
