To be fair- who (other than Bama) has had a big OC hire this offseason in college football? It seems like a year to find young talent.

Also point #2-
We’re a year away from a home and home with the Aggies and this is their OC hire- Who did better?

No Swarbrick is the fucking Clown and we are stuck along for the ride in his fucking clown car of a program.

Carl Reed stepped down after one year at DeSmet because he trashed the players there in a racially charged leaked conversation, which btw includes now Notre Dame player Christian Gray. I won’t endorse any take he has, period.

Can you paraphrase what he said?

Regardless of what you think of him he's spot on when it comes to ND's lack of commitment to winning. The coaching staff and players deserve better.

He’s a contrarian. There’s literally no other reason to be pumped or confident in this hire.
There are positives about the hire. Firstly the QB coaching/development is likely to improve (which is huge). The recruiting effort will likely be improved a lot. There is a good chance it is an upgrade all around on what we have had.

The fun thing is that many of the people yelling loudest about how Parker sucks and shouldn’t have been hired are the same guys who were always yelling about how Rees sucks and shouldn’t have been hired.

I don’t know. I think it might be a modest step back from what we had. But here we are. Let’s see what happens. Personally I would have preferred someone more proven, to balance Freeman’s inexperience, but also I don’t think Parker will be some program-killing disaster.

There's so much contradiction and goal post moving it's crazy.

I can candidly say that this was not the choice that I was hoping for in this process, and I literally have no idea as to how good or bad of a hire Parker is and will be. I’m just along for the ride.

I predict it will only be a slight step back in play calling.
I wasn't as enamored as others by Rees's play calling.
Everything else will be upgraded. (noting of course that Rees did recruit very well for the last 6 months but before that he was horrific).

'I predict it will only be a slight step back in play calling.' - based on game-day reactions and posts to Rees' play calling - there are younger brothers and sisters of the members of IE that could call better games so, I disagree.....

'I wasn't as enamored as others by Rees's play calling.' - neither was 70% or IE members so, how can this hire be a 'downgrade' ???

'Everything else will be upgraded. (noting of course that Rees did recruit very well for the last 6 months but before that he was horrific).' - see above for answer....... and recruiting has been mentioned numerous times that it's not the recruitment - it's the requirements so... there you go...

Watch this sonofabitch prove to be competent.

Wouldn’t that be some shit?

I said it in the New OC Search thread, but it's going to be hard for him not to be successful next year. We're returning one of the most experienced offenses on any team next year, lots of talent, and a proven QB. The biggest question mark will be TE, which is rarely an issue for ND and I've got faith between Raridon/Evans. He could easily run last year's playbook for continuity too, since he's already familiar with it as are the players, no need to put a new system in. I fully expect this offense to explode next year and there will be people saying "lulz, Rees sucks" despite the fact he's was building for this with all these freshmen and sophomores the last 2 years.

Long was successful before he was here and then he came here and set the record for PPG in a season. Oh, and he recruited his ass off. Who gives AF where he is since he got launched for being a JO..

LOLZ, what?! His last two classes skill players:

2019
Kyren Williams
- Absolute stud
Brendan Clark - Gone, nothing of note since
Cam Hart - Got moved to defense

2020
Michael Mayer
- Absolute stud
Jordan Johnson - Gone, nothing of note since
Chris Tyree - Respectable contributions
Drew Pyne - Gone
Xavier Watts - Got moved to defense
Jay Brunelle - Gone to Yale

That's it. That's the list. Basically 3 guys in Kyren, Mayer, and to a lesser degree Tyree that have made significant contributions on offense from 2 classes. You can throw in Pyne too if you like. I could also include the OL from those classes, because the only one to become a starter has been Correll. The rest got upstaged by the younger guys Alt and Fisher, and somehow couldn't beat out Lugg.

The point: Long and BK's recruiting failures in 2019 and 2020 are the reason so many Freshmen and Sophomores started the last two years.

He looks like he would easily beat Tommy Rees in a fight. So, at minimum, we have a tougher OC now.
Unlikely. In his 5 years at Kentucky at WR he posted a total of 168 yards receiving, all of which came in his 5th year. Kentucky never won more than 3 games in any of the 5 seasons he was there and he still couldn't see the field much. That tells me he was somehow even less athletic than Rees. Parker also went through two broken collar bones and a leg injury despite the lack of playing time. Charmin soft.

LMFAO this is so disingenuous. He landed a number of highly skilled and rated offensive players at ND which wasn't exactly the norm at the time. What happened to them after the fact has nothing to do with his recruiting prowess.

Pay no attention, DO NOT CLICK as it will not fit your narrative:

You have to realize that with Ulukinatme, all roads lead to Rees being correct.
Last year whenever the offense suffered it was the fault of the OL, then the WR, then the back-up QB. Recruiting failures at QB were never his fault and all successes are because of him. It's almost cult-like. Dude will be screaming Roll Tide come the Fall.
