I'm paraphrasing a bit here, but basically WVU had a really weird system where Parker would call plays only in the redzone. And WVU's red zone offense improved significantly both years under Parker. When he was given full play calling duties, he improved WVU's overall offensive output by a full TD, and WVU went 4-2 as opposed to 2-4 before he took over.
Well our red zone offense sucked

Has Riddler given credit anywhere for his development?
Does he call Denbrook his mentor or does he call Gino his mentor? Or none of the above?

I'm rooting for this guy, if for no other reason, the amount of mockery and negativity that's coming his way because he landed a job that a bunch of other people fucked up.

Let’s be real. Parker fell ass backwards into this job because he was buddies with Freeman on a Purdue coaching staff. That plays as big a part as everyone else fucking it up.

BUT… maybe that’s what ND needs for once. Instead of being smarter than everyone, and continuing to build a staff by hiring proven coaches or guys that fit exactly what they need, and going to the ends of the earth to push all the right buttons… maybe they just need to fall ass backwards into hiring an unexpectedly amazing coach at a key position.

I’ll be rooting for Parker to be to ND’s OC position, what Dabo was to Clemson’s HC position: an unexpected riser that gets a job almost by default, and by dumb “aw shucks” country luck, we’ve got an elite OC that outschemes everyone, the way Clemson lucked into a HC that out-cultures almost everyone.

I honestly have no problem with ending up on Parker. Not nearly as much as I do with Swarbrick's glasses he has on, or just his general point of view towards everybody. But let's go kill some defenses. I'm psyched.

no - because Jack Swarprick didn't know what Ludwig meant to the program.

I admittedly don't know much of anything about Parker, other than what I've read on IE and googled. That said, the main reason it seems like a lazy hire is that is wasn't the first, second, even third or fourth pick (that we can tell). Tommy was what, the 5th choice at Bama? Well, at this point who knows what to expect. Most of us should just wait and see what happens, as we should, and always do. We always want a big name, big hire. This wasn't it, but we will all mostly be back to see what happens.

If all goes well, Nick Saban will poach Gerrasic Parker to be Bama’s new OC in 5 years.
Who are you kidding? Tommie Reece will be gone well before then. Gelato Perkerr could be stolen away in a year or two.

We always want a big name, big hire.

I, for one, just want someone who's qualified. Ludwig wasn't "sexy" in the traditional sense, but he was qualified (tons of call playing experience and QB development and knows how to beat SC to boot). We may have gotten the QB development piece, but does not appear we got the call playing piece, at least not with Parker.

Agree. Especially with a young, defensive minded HC. Would have preferred a guy who could draw on years of play calling experience.

This.

I’m happy to eat my words later in the season if the duo of GG/GP work. Like you said, it’s not about a big name. It’s about qualifications.

I really believe that Parker as OC, and Golden as DC combine that with Hiestand retirement, we are definitely looking at 4 to 5 losses for the up coming season.

Alabama, Miami and ND all hired OCs who were not their first choices.

If Grubb had said yes to Saban, who knows where it all falls.

That is the most probable outcome. Barely top 25 and kiss Top 10 recruiting class away. There will be decommits.

You tell kids you are committed to National Titles and then you pull this BS. Elite programs will recruit against this debacle.

There are 5 offense commits in the 24 class rn, including 1 OL.

Who exactly is leaving? There's barely anyone in the class at the moment.

If you think Carr will leave, fuckin say it. That goes against everything he's said, but do you. Shit.

I hope they don’t lose Carr but this is not a good look. Certainly5 stars like Wingo want to play for a real title contender.

The class will be really good again. We will win between 10 and 12 games. Mark it 8 dude.

The truth is outside of a handful of elite duderinos pretty much anybody with a decent coaching background can make plenty of offense with the right set of tools. We have those tools for now and the foreseeable future soooooo the real question is which MAC school will Jeneric Punchout be the head coach of in two years.

This sounds dramatic, but I can’t tell anyone with a straight face that they’re going to beat the Big 3 of Clemson, Ohio State and USC this season.

What would be my argument for those wins?

ND has more talent than Clemson, OSU is breaking in a new QB, and USC still doesn’t play defense?
