Annie Wersching, an actress best known for her work in 24, Bosch, Runaways and voicing the character Tess in the video game The Last of Us, died Jan. 29 at the age of 45 following a battle with cancer. Born and raised in St. Louis on Mar. 28, 1977, Wersching started her acting career in 2002 with a guest appearance on Star Trek: Enterprise, and continued racking up credits on Frasier, Angel, Charmed, Boston Legal, and Supernatural. In 2009, she was cast as FBI special agent Renee Walker on the seventh season of 24 and in 2013, Wersching voiced the character Tess in the video game The Last of Us, who is played by Anna Torv in HBO's adaptation. Wersching's other notable credits include Julia Brasher on Bosch, Emma Whitmore on Timeless, Leslie Dean on Runaways, and the Borg Queen on Stark Trek: Picard.

Damn. I grew up on the "Oldies" in the 80s, loved Three Dog Night. Saw them back around 2002 in Cincinnati. Back then the local Oldies station in Cincinnati would put together a yearly summer show with various acts. That year they had the 4 Tops I think, an Elvis impersonator, Tony Orlando, another band that slips my mind, and Three Dog Night. TDN put on a great show, loved every bit of it, but even though they were the headliners...Tony Orlando absolutely stole the show. I think he was fresh off a stint in Vegas and he 100% knew how to work the crowd. He did his hits as well as a lot of other tunes by other artists. The entire setlist was great from top to bottom. This was the first summer after 9/11 so there was a lot of patriotism being shown in the crowd. One couple had an enormous American flag in the crowd and he invited them up on the stage to hold it up while he played, crowd loved it. I went to a number of those Oldies Fest shows in the 2000s, but that first one in '02 was my favorite by far. You weren't topping Tony Orlando and Three Dog Night when it comes to free concerts.

Melinda Dillon, who starred as the female lead in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and the mom in A Christmas Story, has passed away at the age of 83. Twice nominated for an Oscar and nominated once for both a Tony and Golden Globe award. She was born in Arkansas, but raised in Cullman, Al., just a few miles from where I grew up.

Wow. Crazy to think they just released that Christmas Story sequel last month, but she was the only surviving cast member that didn't reprise her role. I guess she had been retired for awhile, but maybe health had something to do with it. Julie Hagerty from Airplane ended up playing the role in the sequel. I can't imagine she could do the role quite like Melinda Dillon did though, she and the old man were excellent together.

During a long career, Bacharach won 6 Grammys, 3 Acadamy Awards, had his songs recorded by more than 1000 different artists, and had 73 top 40 hits. Let that sink in... 73 Billboard top 40 hits. His songs were almost always immediately recognizable and distinctive due to his background in jazz, and often featured rather unusual chord progressions not normally heard in popular music. Even today I can hear one his songs for the first time and almost always immediately recognize it as one of his creations.

Wasn't a fan of his stuff as it was lite pop, easy listening, but you definitely can't deny his success. So much of his work could be found as musical scores for movies like Casino Royale and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

The best thing about Burt? He was shagging Angie Dickinson. RIP Burt.

Former NFL lineman and three time Pro Bowl player Conrad Dobler has died at the age of 72. Dobler reveled in being widely regarded as the dirtiest player in the NFL. A lot of people in the league disliked him because of his admittedly dirty play, but his teammates usually loved him for doing anything and everything he could get away with to protect his QB and win.

RIP Conrad. His daughter worked at our firm for several years and she was a great person. Said her dad didn't really talk football at home and was a great father when home though traveled a lot.

Part of one of the best lines in NFL history.

4 Pro Bowlers: Dobler & Bob Young at guards Tom Banks at center and Dan Dierdorf at RT... Can't remember the LT. They own all kinds of records one of which was something like 5 sacks allowed in a 14 game season and playoffs. My original back up team cuz both of my grandpa's were Cardinal fans. Air Coryell Version 1.0 that gave the great Cowboy & Redskin teams fits. Jim Hart, Jim Otis, Terry Metcalf, Mel Gray, Ike Harris, Jackie Smith. Loaded with talent.

At some point, the Doblers fell on hard times due to medical problems in the family and Phil Michelson picked up the education costs for his kids, one of which went to Miami U.

Also had one of those iconic Miller Lite commercials:

Yes! Daughter mentioned that. He was in a wheelchair for years. Had forgotten about the Phil part but also true!
