It might be because Traore has been injured quite a bit over the last few years.
Fair. Still. The quality of his high school program, and fact that his brother is in the NFL, would suggest Traore's not THAT raw.
Also, my mistake, CM is Massachusetts D2 champs, not D1. Still they're probably one of the two best teams in the state.

Traore was also highly rated throughout the process, suggesting he was further along at a younger age aka not super raw.

Etobicoke kid that says he's from Toronto!?! RED FLAG! /s
I heard he is actually from North York and went to school at West Toronto Prep, which is in Davisville.

West Toronto Prep lost to IMG 96-0 this year. (Umeh wasn't on the team).

In any case, his background seems like a good fit for the Irish.

Yeah, but in High school wrestling you can go a long way just being strong and athletic at those upper weights.
This. You want athletes in your heaviest weight classes, not big slobs who just carry weight.

I read a story about Iowa’s top football recruit on the defensive side this year and that he’s also signed to the Hawkeyes for wrestling. He’s a linebacker, but apparently going to be a heavyweight in the wrestling program.

Once he learns how to wrestle, he could be a problem. Great frame and athleticism. I love my linemen wrestling. I don't care if they win a match, it will help them on the field.

Absolutely. Just from that tape h needs to work on getting all of his weight on top of the guy's legs when he's on top though, better opponents will get to their knees asap. He should be strong enough to basically rip guys arms around as he pleases, so jump out to a side and go.

The point is that he’s starting to get more offers, and likely more to come.

Texas, Florida and USC have all offered too, either just before or just after ND.

But, he’s not a five-star. Got it.
He’s another project. You can’t keep taking kids like this when you’re depth is so bad.

Every kid who is half way through their Junior year of high school is a project. Dont kid yourself.
Some are bigger projects than others. I’m talking about kids who haven’t played a lot of football and are just learning the game. You can’t keep chasing the Onye, Ehrensberger, Mukam types when your depth is bad. Vernon might have work to do, but it’s not impossible for him to be starting in ‘24. You can’t say that about any of the other recruits in the class.

You had Vernon, Houstan, Traore, Mukam and Zinter in '23.

Umeh would be part of a 5-6 man DL class along with potential guys like the Smith Bros., Lindsey, Young, Hayes, and others.

I think the way recruiting is going, your depth isn't going to be bad when a guy like Umeh gets on campus.

Not to mention, I wouldn't consider Umeh that much of a project. He's just a late bloomer that had little film on him and is now getting more film and it's garnering attention from several big-time programs.

Ehrensberger next biggest offer, besides ND, was FIU. Onye had a couple of good offers from Tennessee and Penn State, but that was about it. Umeh has offers from Florida, Iowa, Texas, Texas A&M, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin as of now. Very real possibility he has more big offers on the way. And this surge in offers is happening all before his senior year, so obviously, he made jumps as a junior.

He is one of my top wants in this class, this is the type of guy that goes to Michigan and ends up killing it and becoming a first round pick

You can’t count Zinter. Vernon will be a quality player, Traore can’t stay healthy and Houston & Mukam have barely played football. That’s horrific recruiting.
