What is going on with Mickey? Really thought he would have committed by now.

I can’t tell if ppl are being serious or not about him not committing yet…

He could easily be committed by now and they are just letting him announce when he wants

He hasn’t committed yet because Tommy took him to a postgame house party to give him the full South Bend experience…

To me, the idea that QB coaches be able to develop a kid has some serious limitations. While you can develop a kid to recognize scenarios better and make better decisions, you can’t reach touch—just like you can’t teach speed. Sure, you can improve marginally, but some kids have it and others don’t.

Think basketball, all those guys practice a ton, but their shooting averages plateau. Some guys are just better shooters.

Clausen had it, but not enough around him early or on defense later to win. Golson had it, but too many other issues. Kizer and Quinn were fine.

Other than that, it’s been dual threat guys or limited guys.

If you have a strong roster with lots of playmakers, Minchey has by far the most valuable stand-alone talent. If Buchner comes in to play a different style shake things up, we could be very good.

Only answer if you know please, if you're an armchair QB or HC (that's 95% of you) please don't answer.

What fixes our QB development problems that many of us fans have noticed over the years? I understand that only a small handful of 5 star QB's see the field as true freshman and not many each class pan out at their initial university.

I don't see ND getting the #1 QB in a class any time soon but with MF I can see us getting a top 3 to 5 guy. Once that QB is on campus what is it going to take for him to take meaningful snaps as a true freshman?

Does Minchey have a chance at seeing meaningful snaps if he decides to come to ND?

What makes you think we have a QB development problem?

3* Qb Ian Book was developed into the winningest qb in ND history
Coan was developed into a highly efficient Qb after being benched by Wisconsin
Too early to tell on Buchner
Pyne has a clear ceiling, but has also only lost 1 game in an ND uniform. I think Rees is getting everything out of him he can.

The issue more seems to be talent eval and recruiting consistency at that position. Not development.

It is about landing elite guys. And if you don't land him, make sure everything else is perfect and follow the Mac Jones Stetson Bennett plan...good luck doing that at ND!

We have a recruiting and development problem. Since 2005 ND has only had 2 QB's become All Americans and that was Quinn (2005, 2006) and Clausen (2009).

No QB that ND has had since Clausen is championship material which means we must develop a championship QB and we have a terrible track record in developing an impact game changing QB. ND develops game managers at best. To argue my own point, I would say that Kizer had the potential if he would of stayed IMO.
