That's known as price gouging which in turn is a large part of inflation. Pharma is business not to save lives but to make a profit. Doesn't make it right
Gouging is taking advantage of demand… despite plenty of supply, like in a natural disaster type scenario. This is a demand shock.

People have been complaining about gas prices since the embargo. Neither side is ever happy. This along with talking about incidental and hidden fees are some last minute politicking by Joe in hopes and capturing votes next Tuesday.

Who is price gouging? Haven't seen anything about that.

Pharma is in business to save lives. If they do a good job and save lives, they make money. If they do a bad job, they go out of business.

Which is exactly what you did in your stated scenario. Not saying it was wrong just calling it what is was at face value

I buy and sell stocks for personal gain. So I'm not knocking you

It’s not. Supply and demand. Gyms closed all over the world so the inventory of weights and even cardio machines were always out. I bought at a much higher price from the vendors, because of supply shortages and I sold at a much higher price because of shortages.

An Oath Keeper, Kenneth Harrelson, thought the Electoral College was a place where politicians 'went to get educated,' defense lawyer says at trial.

rbarber@businessinsider.com (C. Ryan Barber)

I think the defense attorney just described his client as 'dumb' in open court...

In all honesty, they probably do need a place to get educated.

What’s crazy is that Trump is *only* a negative in general elections. There is no evidence that he has any positive impact when it comes to R vs D races. His influence is strictly in deciding GOP nominees (particularly in low turnout closed primaries) and when he gets his way it is bad for everyone. When the nominee is a MAGA crazy type instead of a normal person they have no cross-appeal:

I think the Repubs not getting as many seats as they thought was not so much voters embracing what Biden has done, but more of voters wanting to continue to distance themselves away from Trump and anyone who aligns closely with him. If things continue as they are and Trump is not the nominee, that is when you'll see more seats change hands.

I truly believe that if Trump were to have a heart attack tomorrow and DeSantis cruise to the nomination then you'd see an absolute Republican landslide in 2024. I was shocked that there wasn't a "red wave" this year and all stats seem to point to it being because of underperformance from MAGA candidates because independents/moderate Republicans did not want to vote for them.

In New York, a ton of moderate Republicans campaigning on policy instead of BaLlOt MuLeS AnD sToLeN eLeCtIoNs!!! absolutely throttled Democrats.

Absolutely. Trump routinely underperformed other Republicans in both elections he ran in. There's a reason why in both 2016 and 2020 the Republicans had at least 50 U.S. Senate seats, lost very few U.S. House seats, and maintained and added Governorships and State Legislatures yet Trump went 0/2 in the Popular Vote and 1/2 in the Electoral College. Over 5 million people in 2016 and 2020 voted for at least 1 Republican that was on the ballot but didn't vote for Trump. They either voted Libertarian, a 3rd party conservative, for the Democrat, or skipped the Presidential ballot. Brad Raffensperger, the GA SOS, has said several times that Congressional Republicans outperformed Trump and that he underperformed other Republicans in the Atlanta suburbs. He's toxic and tons of people who would otherwise vote for him and agree with him on the issues find him, on a personal level, absolutely detestable.

It all depends on the economy. The last inflation print has the market confident on inflation (and ironically loosened financial conditions). Reagan looked sunk in 1982 but then we had Morning in American in 1984. Whoever the D is will likely be coming off the Russia/Ukraine war being over and inflation settled.

I'd be worried if my party struggled despite the highest midterm misery index in modern times. I also doubt DeSantis navigates a national primary well.

This is a mistake IMO. With Trump's ego, I bet the more pressure he gets not to run will make him want to run to prove everyone is wrong. The best thing to do is ignore him.

This is like daring the jack ass crew of MTV not to do something. Intern they’re just going to do it.

I know, right? I mean, who in their right mind would want someone to replace Biden? Just an unbroken string of absolutely amazing successes as president.... and smart as a whip too! No need to mess with perfection or rock the boat when it's sailing along so smoothly.
Some would rather see the apocalypse than a Repub as POTUS.

Drastically increases the likelihood of a GOP loss. If Trump gets nomination, then you will see the same crap as every time besides 2016 where a plurality of voters that matter simply reject what he is running on. His only prayer will be a worse Dem candidate.

If he doesn’t get the nomination, he will try to tank whoever DOES get it because of his ego.
