The tail of two halves.

The first half was pretty good. Rees called some good plays and Pyne executed them.

Lenzy's catch was one of the best catches i have ever seen.

Thomas's catch was very good. He laid out perfectly.

The INT from Lewis changed the tune of the game.

The blocked punts are just expected now. Just need the rest of the special teams to step up some.

The second half time i didn't know who was out there. There is almost nothing that was positive in the second half.

Pyne was not good. The play calling wasn't the best.

And the o line didn't play it's best. However Navy was bring up to 8 or 9 in the box on every run play. That's why we were so good with the passing game.

The team played like they quit in the second half. That's the only way to explain it. End result we got a win

Decent first half, hideous second. This ND team is very inconsistent and unpredictable.

Wins a win. Only got 2/3 more games. No reason to dwell on a win. Time to move on to BC

Win is a win, however they had a quick session of big plays at the end of the first half that they lose the game without. Little concerning,….

If navy didnt yosemite sam themselves with shots to the foot for the last 5 minutes of the first half we lose to the worst navy team in decades outside their covid year fiasco. Reese play calling ok ish with a crap qb. D has good athletes but I think Golden kinda sucks and with his zero recruiting acumen it needs to be a one and done for him

Gotta play 60 minutes. Looks like they decided to hang it up at halftime. The DJ Brown penalty on the first drive of the second half opened the door for the shit show second half. What is more distressing is that the offensive coaches did a horrendous job at adjusting to the pressure in the second half. Pyne also has very narrow field vision, which doesn't help matters.

On the positive side, Jayden Thomas and Braden Lenzy made some plays today, and the punt block brigade remains strong and in full force.

You don't throw back a win, but this was one with a lot of teaching points available - for both the players and the coaches.

I didn’t love the run game plan, I mean call something other than duo. But Pynes internal clock needs new batteries and plays were open to be had in the 2nd half. This isn’t a video game, Tommy can’t press A when a guy is wide on an 8 man Blitz.

This was almost a carbon copy of the Stanford game in the sense of Pyne’s inability to do basic shit causing the entire offense to implode against a bad defense.

When they routinely zero blitz or completely sell out against the run, you need to have the football IQ to throw the ball on time where it needs to go. You cannot just hold the ball until the unblocked rusher gets home. Against Stanford it was the opposite problem — not being able to read drop 8 and melting down in a different way.

The coaches and other players weren’t perfect but holy crap.

Not many two back sets or creative ways to get the ball on outside runs.

Like I said I did not like the Run game plan. If I’m Tommy I shouldn’t need to get creative Plays Were there to be made

Games vs. Navy usually come down to our offense. We had 11 drives and only scored 35 points, which isn't great against them. IMO. Honestly it's almost all about the QB position these days. Until we start getting consistent good to very good play at that position, the offense will continue to struggle. Take the W and get the heck outta there.

We barely hold off 3-6 Navy and should just be happy to get the W and get out of there.

Dream big, NDRock. Dream big.

We are on to BC.

Far less confident that we get to 9 wins than I was at noon.

But, then again this team really plays to the level of the competition.

So....survive BC and the curb stomp USC!

Do you actually watch the team? We're a flawed team and a big part of that is the QB position. That is not getting fixed this year. No matter how much you dream, we aren't going to turn into Georgia. The realistic hope for this team is we find a way, any way, to win our next two games and hopefully get into a big bowl against a winnable opponent.

Not sure if you have kids. If they play sports you will eventually realize they have a ceiling as to how good they will be. Hopefully for them and your sanity, you won't flip out whenever they fail to play up to your unrealistic standard of what they should be.

For this year's team and the future, I'll take the W today and get the heck outta there.

I think Jamie U sums it up well. Only thing I’d add is the fact that every game, you can count on a Drew Pyne pass getting batted in the air and Blake Grupe is a good bet to miss a FG. He’s now 10/15

Yep - Last 10 years

2021 – Notre Dame 34, Navy 6
2019 – Notre Dame 52, Navy 20
2018 – Notre Dame 44, Navy 22
2017 – Notre Dame 24, Navy 17
2016 – Navy 28, Notre Dame 27
2015 – Notre Dame 41,
Navy 24
2014 – Notre Dame 49, Navy 39
2013 – Notre Dame 38, Navy 34
2012 – Notre Dame 50, Navy 10

There is no reason there shouldn't have been 50+ for the Irish on the scoreboard today. Imagine if MF wouldn't have called those timeouts at the end of the first half and go in and score a TD with 1:40ish on the clock???

I was working and missed the game. Reading the comments about the game all I can say is it least our inevitable “back to reality, we aren’t that good” moment resulted in a win and not a loss. That being said USC is going to take us behind the woodshed and I wouldn’t be surprised if BC upsets us.

The Irish are 'Good'... they aren't better than 'Good', to me that's the issue. I don't expect the Irish to be 'Great' this year considering, but to lose to Marshall & Stanford and then lay an egg in the second half against Navy is redonkulous....
