We're at the point to where we're wanting to take Michigan's backup QB, who also happened to fuck ND at the end. Got it.

Over Mertz yes. Over someone who literally lost his team a game against us. We’ve seen firsthand.

I wouldn’t have either as Plan A.

McNamara and Pyne are not the same. McNamara is what Pyne should at minimum have been. He’s got a better arm, more mobile, more decisive, everything. vertical shot, slant, deep crosser. He has sufficient arm strength to do them all AND has done it.

He’s not my first choice, but he’s also not a bad one.
Cade is Book 0.75, Pyne is Book 0.1.....

Still think ND should aim higher.

100% agree. I think the issue with McNamara is he will want a starting job and he will have to compete for it at Notre Dame. He will likely end up going somewhere with less of a competition for the job
Brother, he shouldn’t need to compete that hard to beat out Pyne and Buchner. He just has to complete some passes.

Can anyone provide any further insight to what Tim P said yesterday as far as Armstrong having interest in transferring to ND?
I saw some smoke on Twitter, just curious if anyone can provide any further info.

He is a name I would be very excited by.
One of the top QB's in the country last year, who has been let down by talent and coaching this season.

It was more someone he thought ND should look into. FWIW Pete Sampson in his mailbag mentioned Armstrong along with Sam Hartman (Wake Forest) and Hudson Card (Texas)

Hartman leaving to come to ND instead of going to the NFL would be odd. He already owns most of the Wake Forest passing records and has nothing left to prove at the college level. If his goal is a NC, sorry to say guys, but that's not us next year.

Even if ND hires Ruggierio, I don't envision Hartman will follow.

Some other possible transfer names to look at:

Kurtis Rourke, Ohio.
Michael Pratt, Tulane.
Preston Hutchinson, Chattanooga.
Cole Synder, Buffalo.
Hank Bachmeier, Boise State (personal favourite)

I do not agree, he's not an NFL QB IMHO. Plus ND could sell him on NIL opportunities available to a star QB at ND.

I dont know that Hartman has a NFL future.

Whether he has an NFL future or not is not the question. My point was that he has nothing left to prove or show at the college level. He's going to finish this season with over 12,000 career passing yards and 100 TDs. NIL for him would be some sort of a NFL contract.

I’m not really a huge fan of Ruggiero like some others that have taken that stance, but if you theoretically import a Top 10 O onto ND, it definitely is a Playoff team as long as the D is like a Top 25 unit.

I could’ve sworn he said someone in the know texted him and said Armstrong wanted to go to ND.

I dont know that Hartman has a NFL future.
Was listening to Kiper on the radio a few weeks back before the Clemson vs Wake game. He was projecting Hartman around a third day spot (4th-5th Rd). One would think an awesome year at ND would move him up to at least a possible day two (2nd Rd) grade, but sadly he can’t get any taller.

Idk if his name has been brought up, but I'd start contacting Devin Leary of NC State right now.

I don’t think he said that

It was something like I was talking to someone and they both were imagining if if Armstrong came to ND. It definitely wasn’t sourced reporting.
