Likes: Mayer, Pyne, O-line, THomas, Estime, Diggs, the young TE getting a catch
Dislikes: the LBers.

Don’t understand playing Bertrand the D was worse with him on the field. It’s like Bauer and Kollie didn’t even play much after he came back and they were playing great today.

Redzone offense was embarrassing, the play calls showed no imagination. You throw an obvious screen pass to Mayer when the better option was just to fade him out. He’s 6”5 and been dominating in the air.

Tyree looked wrong. Dude was wearing the wrong shoes

There are positives but I like being negative, should have put like 21 more on them.

Wish Prince played LB all game. Also I asked earlier but didn’t hear anything I think Styles was in the secondary after bracy got hurt, unless we have another #4 not on the roster

Confidence is a beautiful thing. The confidence shown by Drew Pyne, Jayden Thomas and Logan Diggs shone through tonight. What a difference from the Marshall game to now. Defense needs to maintain a 60 minute effort, and the secondary needs to cut down on the mental errors and busts in coverage. Jon Sot has been great, but he way outkicked his coverage on the early punt from the end zone. Hope that Bracy's injury isn't serious, though if it's a hamstring pull, he could be gone a while.

I’m going to revisit this point—and I don’t think anyone calling for Pyne over Buchner at the start of the season have any merit—but Drew Pyne has been pretty damn solid and I’ll give credit to Tommy for calling an overall game that Drew complements Drew’s ability.

He’s not great, but he’s good enough if you call the right game for him.

I shoulda called out Diggs and Estime for looking really good.

Diggs is proving me wrong, I thought he was an average back but that last play he had was really dynamic. Jumped to keep his legs from getting swept and then managed to keep upright and pick up a huge chunk at a pivotal moment in the game.

He had another jump cut earlier in the game that earned him an extra 7-10 yards. Diggs doesn’t have great speed, but he does have the agility to make nice moves to avoid tackles.

If Michael Mayer could break a tackle, just once a game or so, he'd be the greatest TE in the history of college football.

What is he meant to do - not kick it so far?

No, directional kick it so his coverage can make a play. The BYU punt returner ran for over 10 yards before the gunners got down there.

Tough to see on tv, but it was described as a low kick. Without hang time, your coverage guys aren’t down there in position to tackle the returner. Not sure if it was Diggs or Griffith, but the initial gunner had an awful angle and then the rest of the unit was still chasing the kick.

I love Michael Mayer and really that’s all that needs to be said.

I hope Bracy is okay. Mistake prone secondary can’t lose him.

Happy for Diggs and Estime. Huge games.

Pretty sure Tyree was at the blackjack table til 6 am.

Tommy called an A+ game until he gets to 1 yard to go or goal to go. Then he turtles. So frustrating.

How about it Jayden Thomas. Coming out party?

I’m not going to praise Pyne because I know @ulukinatme will take care of that, but he was insanely accurate tonight. If only he was 3 inches taller.

I secretly just want to see him do the McGreggor walk one more time before Carr takes over.

Bertrand is a captain, but Kollie showed flashes and we need to see more of him sooner than later.
I don’t want to sound tooooo old school here, but if you’re really a captain and about what’s best for the team, even JD has to know that Prince is the answer there, and not him.

Now I’ll step back and accept the digital shit being thrown at me for thinking any player would willingly make that decision in real life.

That was a great game!

Drew is making huge strides, I just wish he would start looking at other players besides just keying on 87 every play.

I hated hearing Garrett say over and over on national tv that the Irish don’t use their wide receivers. Not a great recruiting pitch.

I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but really can’t state how bad Garrett was tonight. It was third and thirteen from maybe the BYU 45 and he said “punting on fourth here is a win for the Irish”, when Mayer promptly caught a ball for 18. That statement is maybe true in the pro game, but it’s not in college. NBC really screwed up giving him this job. He should be color on Panthers vs Vikings type games that no one watches.

I wonder who they’ll pair with Jac next year?

It’s a lot to make me want Flutie back…but I do.

Crazy Stat I saw on 247.

Since 2010, ND Has run for 200 yards 57 games, (59 now) we’ve only lost 5 times giving us a winning percentage of .912 (that is ridiculous).

4 out of 5 of those losses were under Van Gorder's inept defense.

Meaning if we run for 200 yards... we win 99.02 percent of the time if we don't have Brian Van Gorder as a DC.

Been calling for Pyne since '21!

Really though, a lot of QBs could generate offense behind this OL. We still had a few miscommunications, but Drew had a lot of time back there today and Mayer was able to get open on two big 3rd down conversions. We knew once the OL gelled we'd be able to put some points on the board. I want to see what Buchner can do behind this OL, but I'm always going to support whoever is under center for ND regardless.
