Hey, if Marcus wanted to ride or die with Dan Mullen, I'm all in. 44 years on this Earth and I've been an ND fan for every one of them. I doubt that changes regardless of who the OC is. LOL.I agree in that I don’t think it would work at all in the end, I just think if they could and Freeman felt he could work in that role effectively it would be a home run. Mullen himself at his best has a better QB resume than ND as a school in the 21st century.
Mullen was always on my shortlist to replace Kelly eventually with the caveat that he’d have to iron out some of his and BKs shared issues. Clearly that won’t happen but I could certainly see Mullen back on top soon if, which that’s a big IF, he addresses even some of the reasons he failed in the end at Florida. If ND could get a couple years, one QB out of his old QB magic it could alter the trajectory back to where it should be of QBs at Notre Dame.
All a pipe dream anyways but it’d be Team dream of it over not.
Mullen's best work may have come earlier in his career with Josh Harris at Bowling Green. That kid set the world on fire his senior year under Meyer and Mullen. I thought what he got out of the Fitzgerald kid at Mississippi State was very impressive too. I don't think he's going to step down into an OC role, though. He's either going to HC again at a P5 program or he'll go to the League. His trajectory doesn't seem to be ND regardless.
I think there are a lot of interesting possibilities out there and often times they're the ones that we as fans, even the most engaged down to the very casual, don't always consider or even see. I keep a very open mind.
