I am in total agreement here. The recruiting is a separate issue at the moment, however. They can't go back and change that. They have their roster now and have to roll with it. The verbals they have can't help them this season, obviously.Tommy Rees has been on the staff since 2017 and has never recruited a QB that has started and won a game at ND. Some of that is a fluke, some of it is genuinely bad recruiting/development. I mostly agree with Jigga that the issues are far greater than just playcalling, but he absolutely deserves heat too for the other deficiencies.
In hierarchy of blame, would probably be:
1a. Del's recruiting
1b. Harry/Quinn's coaching/development
3. Tommy's recruiting
4. His development of QBs and
5. His playcalling
If the offensive line performed as expected this year, most the deficiencies this team has on offense would be covered up IMO.
You can keep being a dickhead or you could actually use your eyes and stop cherry picking on one post out of 100s on the issue.
The OL was shit last year until they played some bad teams in November and got to look improved, which they probably were, but in reality it was like sticking a piece of bubble gum on a crack in the wall to stop a leak. The recruiting and lack of development mean it's not going to matter what plays he's calling. You have a non existent running game because your line is bad and you can't execute a standard passing attack because you don't have a QB good enough or receivers who have experience to get open.
I'm the dickhead asking the snowflakes what plays they should be calling and so far I'm not really getting an answer. I'll be honest that after 8 quarters, I couldn't even begin to tell you what plays TR should be calling because if they can't run and they can't pass, the only other option is kick as far as I know. If they can't execute any other plays how will they execute even the simple screens?
