Okay, I didn’t know thatIt’s been discussed ad nauseum that Swarbrick hired Rees before Freeman and hiring Freeman was contingent on Rees staying.

BYU,USC,Clemson are all likely losses. Then a bunch of toss ups. But there is no way ND will fire MF now. He could go 0-12 and will get at least 2 years. If this team is 5-7 or worse (not saying that's going to be the case), they should consider pulling the plug on Freeman.

I am trying to be positive.Likely? We could only score 21 point on Marshall. It’s gonna be ugly!
You're probably correct, but that's genuinely what I believe should happen should ND finish the season 5-7 or worse.BYU,USC,Clemson are all likely losses. Then a bunch of toss ups. But there is no way ND will fire MF now. He could go 0-12 and will get at least 2 years.
I think we finish 6-6 this season.

Not ideal to be stinking up the joint when asking for 60 million from NBC. NBC is gonna lose their butts this year if our season continues this way. Plus, fans will soon see their tickets to our opponents.I wonder how being terrible impacts our ability to remain independent. Would be pretty sad to see us forced to join a conference because we can’t win.
There’s so much in flux in college football right now and a sizable part of Notre Dame getting special treatment hinges on Notre Dame being relevant/good.I wonder how being terrible impacts our ability to remain independent. I’m surprised that so many here can’t grasp this obvious fact. This team was unprepared today. no ifs ands or buts about it and that falls on the HC.
Ty Freemanham
He did close last year's class. TBF.He hasn’t closed a class yet, but if anything, MF has shown he would rather recruit than golf.

If true then JS and TR need to be shown the door. TR has done absolutely nothing for that type of preferred treatment. Also begs the question why MF would accept those terms. It’s been discussed ad nauseum that Swarbrick hired Rees before Freeman and hiring Freeman was contingent on Rees staying.
Horrible teacher? Rees could be a lot of things, but he's gotten arguably a lot out of little talent. They were right in benching Wimbush for Book, jury is still out on Buchner. It's impossible to evaluate these QBs right now when they're getting pressured up the middle immediately after the sack. Nobody is fixing this offense until the OL is right. There’s a lot of players on this team other coaches would get more out of. Like the QB position. Rees is a horrible teacher.
We took a track star in Lenzy and he has not been good at all here. I bet if he would have home to Oregon you would have seen a different player.
Are you kidding the guy has ruined how many qbs and he’s proven that he can’t recruit or develop talentHorrible teacher? Because he was being offered a life changing job opportunity. If true then JS and TR need to be shown the door. TR has done absolutely nothing for that type of preferred treatment. Also begs the question why MF would accept those terms.
Freeman wanted the job. This isn't on Freeman, it's on Swarbrick. If true then JS and TR need to be shown the door. TR has done absolutely nothing for that type of preferred treatment. Also begs the question why MF would accept those terms.
You can't completely blame Rees for the offensive problems. Play calling is on him, but the OL failing to get half a yard against Marshall on two attempts with big Estime running the ball? That's pathetic execution and an indictment of the upperclassmen in the middle of that OL. Right now the most effective offensive players we have are Rees' first class, the Sophomores that are starting (Mayer being the older guy and the exception). Alt, Fisher, Styles, Estime, Diggs, Buchner (Jury still out, but he's likely our best QB still), probably Colzie when he's healthy. These guys beat out upperclassmen, many of them last year as Freshmen. It's likely a strong reason BK saw an opportunity to bail on this team, he knew they had mismanaged the talent and he was heading for another 2016 season.Freeman didn't hire Rees. He cannot be blamed for Rees' problems. The defense wasn't great but it was good enough to win. The offense is shockingly bad. And remember that Rees has been in charge of the offense for several years and the QBs before that.
Hire Herman/Cutcliffe/Mullen/anyone really as an analyst/QB coach/etc. and give that person play calling duties. Rees can retain his title/salary but must not be allowed to call plays.
It's possible Freeman is a disaster, in which case we can move on. Way too early to make any judgments about that, though. If the season ends with 2 or 3 wins, though, there is a case for moving on at that point. But we can wait for that to happen before working through that situation.
I don't know. It's Swarkins, I guess. Swarbrick, who is a lawyer, should have told Jenkins, who is a priest and philosophy professor, not to insist on a particular OC for the head coach. Was it Swarbrick or Jenkins though? I thought I read something about Jenkins saying it was a must that Tommy had to be hired as OC if Freeman was to take the head coaching spot.
You think this roster doesn't have holes? It's all on the coaches, this would still be a Top 10 team if we just replace Rees and Freeman huh?Nice try. We were Preseason Top 5 in ALL THE POLLS. ND88 / Ulinkin are boot lickers for losers. ND's goal is winning Nattys. Stop making excuses. We are underperforming. We were Top 5 going in - EVEN BY THE COACHES. SO YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THE COACHES NOW? "Gapping Holes" - LOL. What a cop out.
I presume I am arguing with Ms. Rees and Ms. Freeman. Just sayin.
Why wasn't Tyree given the ball more? You can't completely blame Rees for the offensive problems. I get it its hard to pass up. Just seems to me he would want to surround himself with proven experienced coaches. Questionable decision making in my humble opinion. Again if true rather mf works out or not any coaching searches in the future just got even harder. Cannot tie you hc to preferred coordinators and expect to win let alone be successful long term.Freeman wanted the job. This isn't on Freeman, it's on Swarbrick.
Ok so he is good for Top 250 QBs but not Top 50 QBs??? Oh boy.Outside of Book and Coan, I would agree that he hasn’t done much, but he does deserve some credit for their development. It’s mostly that the guys he does better at coaching up are not highly ranked guys. He tends to gravitate towards a profile that is similar to his makeup as a QB. Game managers.
Yes the talent is there. We need a tough love HC and an experienced OC. Not there. You think this roster doesn't have holes? It's all on the coaches, this would still be a Top 10 team if we just replace Rees and Freeman huh?

Do you just assume high school quarterbacks come in and can magically pick apart college defenses like they did among the 14-18 year old crowd? Quarterbacks are busts all the time going from high school to college. Players are rarely "ruined" it's often that they just don't pan out or live up to the hype. Not every player gets it.Are you kidding the guy has ruined how many qbs and he’s proven that he can’t recruit or develop talent
I think Tyree has a bit of GAIII in him. Great runner, not necessarily a great running back...BUT, he's fantastic in the open field and has really good hands. We saw that in the Fiesta game when he snagged 6 receptions for 118 yards, yet just 6 carries for 18 yards. He had a couple nice receptions yesterday too. We have to get him the ball in space, he just doesn't work between the tackles and quite frankly he's not a great blocker either. Line him up more in the Slot and outside, he's dangerous there. Why wasn't Tyree given the ball more?
Blocking by all the running backs has been pretty terrible. In fact, blocking by the tight ends has been pretty bad too. I think the entire offensive staff should be looking over their shoulders.I think Tyree has a bit of GAIII in him.
