No it's not moot. Ted Cruz came out and specifically said that the dems snuck in a slush fund. He's a liar. They were caught and turned and ran with their tails between their legs because everyone started calling them out for not giving a shit about vets.
This isnt hard..... lol

Whether it wasn't caught the first time they voted or it was added after the House review is moot (They still haven't updated the bill on the senate site, the last action on it still says it went to the House in June). Obviously they were willing to pass it the first time, so the bullshit about GOP not caring about veterans was manufactured outrage. It was a political stunt that gullible people bought into. Again, from the start the contention was the spending and they said it would get passed regardless soon, which it did in less than a week.
Jfc I know you are a good dude and I really know it but common man. The political stunt was the GOP delaying the bill over a lie out of spite. The bill was set to pass unchanged and then the GOP stopped it close to a day of recess threatening the entire process and bill for vets. THE GOP DID THAT. THE VETS WERE RIGHT RO BE ANGRY AS FUCK ABOUT THAT.

The Dems didn’t do a goddamn thing wrong here

Why would they delay a bill a few days out of spite? Tell me what's to gain in that scenario, honestly. Makes no sense as a motive, and absolutely nothing to gain politically. If it was out of spite they could have possibly stalemated it indefinitely. Did that happen? No. That was never the case. They tried to get three amendments added to lighten the costs and tax dollars going to other countries. They couldn't get them through, so they passed the bill as is. Several senators said it was going to get passed last week regardless, and it did. Everything else was manufactured drama. Nobody was wrong here, this is how government is supposed to work but we can rarely get both sides to work together like this or concede a point.

You're assuming their plan was only to stall a few days. Maybe they only stalled a few days because they saw the giant shitstorm their antics were causing.

They didn't care about those three amendments. If they did they would have mentioned those before voting no out of nowhere on a bill they already passed. They also wouldn't have came out and LIED about the imaginary slush fund immediately after voting no. Something you still refuse to acknowledge.

Several senators literally said last week that it was going to get passed, they just wanted to try and fix the numbers. I posted about it then after the first vote, it's not like the thing gained steam and they backtracked. That was always their position that it was going through regardless.

We don't really know what has or hasn't changed since June. Go to the congress site for the bill. The last action still says "06/16/2022 Message on Senate action sent to the House" https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967/actions
I don't see any of the 3 amendments in there that were voted on yesterday, I don't see any changes since mid June. The info isn't up to date. So maybe the spending issues were in there and they missed it during the first vote, maybe it was added and they haven't updated the site, pretty hard to know one way or the other honestly. It's he said/she said. Does it really matter when they caught it though? The thing is done with  Either way they tried to address the spending portion of it, they didn't have the votes, they passed it anyway. People getting all emotional like it was getting outright blocked. They literally passed it once, the only concern was some spending which they relented on.

If this were the case why wouldn't they have said BEFORE the vote that they wanted to hold off because of budgetary concerns? Instead they surprise everyone with a no vote when they know there are veteran groups literally outside the senate waiting to have a celebratory press conference. Are they just incompetent? Seems like they thought they pulled off something cool because they were all fist bumping after the no vote.

You don't see any of the three amendments listed in the bill because none of those amendments passed. The change from the no vote to the yes vote was posted in this thread a few pages ago. It's literally one sentence.

Then they should have said that! Instead of bold face lying about dems sneaking in some spending. How many times are you going to ignore this point? How do you explain Ted Cruz's accusation after the no vote?

If it was missed the first time my guess is because there were less than 2 days between when the June amendments were added and the vote occurred. If there were other legislation pieces going through at that time, and I'm sure there were, then it's possible they didn't catch it at that time. Again, it's hard to know. The site doesn't show any other updates either, nothing since it was passed the first time. Last action was that it passed the Senate in June, doesn't list the minor technical changes that were done in the House which is why it went back to the Senate again in the first place. No roll call votes, no additional actions. If the budget language had been there since June it just further emphasizes they need to put that 5 day waiting period on bill changes to allow the reps time to review. 2 days or less is likely not enough time when there's other bills on the docket as well.

Also, it turns out this bill is actually older than February. It was first introduced in June of last year. So the whole bit about people and the media pushing "GOP are literally killing veterans!!!!1" by delaying passage a few days over spending...yeah, drama.

I'll make this simple since you seem to be insistent on doing Alex Jones level mental gymnastics.

Was there an amendment that added $400 billion dollars of pork between the time that the house passed the bill and when the senate republicans shot it down?

Again, we don't know. "Last Action: 06/16/2022 Message on Senate action sent to the House." There. Are. No. Updates. Since. June. We know some minor language was changed in the House, probably not spending related, but even that's not in there. There's a place in the Amendments section for proposed changes that did not pass, nothing from this week is in there. All I was saying was if it was there since June it was likely missed the first time because of the short time frame between the June changes and the first vote that passed.

Tell me why does it matter so much when they found the spending issues, whether it was in there during the first passage or after it came back? Honestly, what does it change? The brouhaha began when GOP delayed the second passage. Democrats accused GOP of killing the veterans which was a preposterous and emotionally charged statement to draw sympathy and sling mud. A number of congressmen came forward from the start to say the delay was over spending and temporary. 2 of the 3 amendments proposed still dealt with reducing the costs or closing the supposed loophole. It doesn't mean they didn't try to put unnecessary spending in the bill, we're literally splitting hairs on when it may have been first identified. Again, this is all pretty stupid. They tried to get the amendments through, they didn't go, they still passed it again like they said they would. Why is this such a big deal?

If the $400 billion slush fund bullshit were real one of the republican senators that was getting their ass handed to them all week would have posted the excerpt online. They didn't because it doesn't exist.

You're asking why it matters that a prominent senator came out and made a public statement where he lied about the substance of a bill he just voted on? LOL

And quit bringing up the fact that republicans where getting blamed for killing vets. People where rightly pissed off because the no vote came out of nowhere. There was no indication that they still planned on passing it shortly after because they had made no comments beforehand that they had any issues with the funding of the bill. If they had said before the vote that they wanted to take another look at some of the funding mechanisms there wouldn't have been such an outcry. But pulling a political stunt like they did right before the senate was set to go on break had people mad and confused. And guess what? It worked. The GOP caved to the public pressure and dropped their shit.

Certainly seems like a self inflicted wound. If everyone knows that it's going to get passed eventually, any proposed amendments have almost zero leverage and were likely to get shot down by the Dems. Meanwhile you take the heat for not caring about the Vets. Seems like it wasn't a very smart choice to handle it the way that they did.

They disagree with you. They owned the libs and the vets at the same time.

I don’t normally wish bad on anyone but this piece of shit deserves to get every bad thing coming to him and more.
Hard to imagine how someone could be wired like that. I won't lose an ounce of sleep worrying about his fate.

You guys are more emotional than a woman  Ya'll get suckered in to whatever the media posts if it tugs on the heart strings. This was posted with no context, absolutely no confirmation of what the senators were discussing. It could have been about the bill, it could have been about the upcoming primary, it could have been about their kid's PeeWee football, it could have been a discussion about their mistresses for all we know. There's no audio, somebody posted a video that said "Proof the senators don't care about vets!" and ya'll bought it without any facts.

Tell me again how they managed to own the libs and the vets when they passed the bill days later like they said they would.. Again, where was the motive? What benefit do they get politically to delay the passage a few days? "Boy, we sure showed those libs when we passed their bill again 4 days later!" Use your head and not your heart.

He can be really really really funny with his harmless conspiracy stuff. When he is on Joe Rogan, he's a hoot.

The Sandy Hook stuff went much too far.
