This was the sort of thing that prompted the bill.

People can argue about whether it went too far or is sloppily drafted or whatever. But teachers/librarians/admits fucked around and found out.

I'm sympathetic to the gay community (particularly of yesteryear) because I'm sure it ain't easy. But parents should be able to send their kids to school without worrying their kid is going to be marched around in a mini Pride parade or stumble on a graphic sex novel in the library.
The things you mention are pure propaganda. Same type of thing with the trans bathroom issue and any other fear culture propaganda against non straight people. It’s intentionally divisive and encourages stigmatism and hate against non straight people.

No graphic sex books in our library when I was a kid…….if there had been I’m sure the pages would have been worn like tissue paper, if you could have even gotten the pages apart. No cunning lingus nor nobs for slobs……….

That book was available to high schoolers according to that article, not little kids.
Propaganda doesn’t care about details.

It’s not about the library books. Another disinformation nugget.

According to DeSantis the bigot himself he says it should apply to all levels schooling.
Why? I wonder why?
Same sex spouse pictures can’t be displayed and not rainbow clothing can be worn. Hmmm seems like a bunch of bigoted shit to make a certain group of human beings lives harder

But critics and legal experts have said the broad language of the law could open school districts and teachers to lawsuits from parents who believe any conversation about LGBTQ people or issues is “not age appropriate.” (Parents will be able to sue school districts for alleged violations, damages or legal fees.)

The state Education Department is expected to release more information about the parameters of its standards later this summer. In an interview in April with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, DeSantis suggested the standards would apply the law beyond third grade and added that “things like woke gender ideology have no place in the schools, period.”
Don’t want your kid learning about the reality of LGBQT people in the public schools? Send them to the private schools I always hear about.

Elementary School Repeats The Parade That Outraged Parents
School system pulls 2 books with graphic sex from libraries

PuRe pRoPaGaNdA. I got no idea how common this shit is. I'm guessing and hoping it ain't common. But it ain't propaganda.
I'm sure it's not common.

I think the vast majority of people would be fine with kids learning about puberty and sex education at the age it's always been taught in school. I believe it's either 5th or 6th grade. Same sex attraction would of course be included.

I don’t have a problem with what DeSantis did, largely because it’s on the state-level. If he were to be President and tried to implement this on a nation-wide scale I wouldn’t be a big fan of it, even though I agree with him ideologically. I think more power should go to the states and that the federal government should stay out of peoples business as much as possible.

Except to tell them they can’t place pictures of their spouse in the classroom or wear rainbows? Or what books can and can’t be allowed to read. Or they can’t cross state lines to get a abortion or even get an abortion at all. Small goverment. Give me a fucking break. Right lol Cool.

The small government solution here would be to never signed that law into existence. Lol. Leave the LGTBs alone for fucks sake. Can’t believe people can’t see this. It’s a right wing culture war against non straight people. First abortion now this. Pretty soon my sister won’t legally be recognized as being married because a bunch of bigots write a law saying so.

But the hypocrite moralists writing these laws don’t want to leave them alone. They don’t want them to exist and they will use big goverment even at the state level to ensure it my sister becomes a second class citiezen.

Yeah but if we let them get married then we'd have to explain that to kids in school somehow.

Believe me, if it were the federal government doing this I’d have a problem with it. The federal government should stay out of decisions pertaining to your bedroom and body, just to name a few, as much as possible. I don’t trust old fossils like Pelosi, McConnell, Schumer, and Grassley who have been feeding at the DC trough for decades. I’d defer to the Governors and state legislatures to make more (but not all) decisions, even if I didn‘t agree with their politics. I feel the same way about masks and vaccines. I’m fully vaccinated and boosted and I wear a mask when going into the store. I believe that vaccines and masks are beneficial. I fully support the right of Governors to mandate one or both of those things, even if I disagree with them. If Biden wanted to make a National mask or vaccine mandate I’d be the first one to call out the overreach.

Believe me, the federal government has a very proper and important place in our society. I’m am not one the small government People. I acknowledge and accept the many many things the Fed allows us to do in order for us to be where we are. I trust them to do a great many things every day and to keep this highly advance and texhnicsl merry go round mostly operational 24/7. The federal government must protect all its citizens. Discrimination laws should be in place and they should be federal level regulations. When the Supreme Court rules (and they will) that gay marriage and all these culture war objections to being LGTB are states rights issues…..there will be a great deal of chaos and citizens in states that have these anti gay laws already to go will become second class citizens. Your small goverment argument doesn’t hold any water here. This is a big invasive goverment power move to make gays second class citizens . Deal with it. If these laws get I acted my sister very well could lose all protections between states. Meaning if she was to visit me and something happened the state would not recognize her as married or offer the same protections me and my wife have.

Moving these types of protections to the state level is inviting chaos. No way a single state should be able to deny rights to one of its citizens based on their hypocritical moral objections.

Overreaching federal government should have never gotten involved with slavery either. That should be something governors and state legislatures handle. What do some NYC elites know about the economy in Birmingham?
So we are back to comparing gay marriage to the horrors of human bandage again.
Maybe the Mormons in Utah and other western states should start comparing the illegality of multiple wives to slavery. They are second class citizens whose rights are being denied.

By NDMatt91's logic that's exactly what they should be doing right now.

What about the people on My Strange Addiction who are attracted to their own cars? They must be upset they can't marry their cars but gay people are allowed to marry each other.

I’m all for people loving who they want to love but marriage is just for one man and one woman because my own personal belief over rules you

What you just described is 'mankinds' basic belief in marriage since its dawn.

My 'personal' belief is that gay couples should have state recognized civil unions with all of the rights as married couples.
I also believe that if you want to go the marriage route then put it to a referendum and let the people vote for it. Or have state legislatures create the laws.
