Cyrus recently talked to Rob Ianello and they set up an official visit for Cyrus to come see ND. He will be traveling to ND for the Navy game where he'll be joining Deion Walker on his first official vist. Cyrus is also planning on making official visits to Louisville, California and Florida later this year.

So far this season Cyrus has helped lead his team to a 3-1 record while rushing for over 700 yds, and 9 TDs while playing QB.

Cool. That's really good to hear. Either Gray or Williams would make a GREAT addition to this already excellent class.

He gives me the impresion that he is a kid with a great heart. It's a shame that he supposedly has struggled with grades... but it says he has a 3.2 gpa so I can't understand the issue unless he is looking for early enrollment or doesn't have enough core classes.

It could be test scores too.

Just watched his video, I hope we land the kid as we could use his speed in a number of positions.

Yeah that video stuck out to me because opponents can't even get a hand on him.

Cyrus reportedly had a great visit to ND for the Navy game and was really impressed with ND as a whole.

They both seemed to go great and I've heard reports that ND now leads for both of them.

Unfrickingbelievable. Those players must be drinking even more Kool-Aid than we fans have been ... I honestly can't imagine how Weis & Co. have managed to do this.

maybe they have more faith in Weis and his staff and they know that better days are ahead

1 season doesn't define a coach

The head coach of Notre Dame has a shorter leash with Notre Dame fans than Scott Norwood missing a field goal in the Super Bowl. It's ridiculous. The only thing missing is the murder threats, although I wouldn't be surprised if at least some whacked out fools have sent threatening letters to Coach Weis.

Thankfully, high school recruits don't feel the same way as some of these whack jobs on the Internet.

Weis has at least one more season before the powers that be even consider getting rid of him.

Cyrus Gray moved into the latest Rivals top 100. He sits at 72. Hey Cyrus, if one weekend was great, imagine 4 years here! Come on, join the club.

I just saw this:

Notre Dame is recruiting Cyrus Gray, but not necessarily as a running back. Gray's services might best be utilized on the return game and how willing he is to accept those duties might have an effect on whether Gray ends up in Blue and Gold.

Thoughts? Insights?

From what I've heard his big play potential in the return game is a large part of why they are still recruiting him. Not that they aren't recruting him as a RB or not that they don't like hi potential there too, it's just that that extra playmaking ability makes them willing to take a 2nd RB in the class. I'm guessing that's what they were trying to get at.

I think the better word to use there would be "exclusively" instead of "necessarily".

If he turned out to be a great RB, why wouldn't they use him? I don't think the coaches would say or think they only want a guy for one purpose.

Cyrus had to reschedule his Louisville visit because of his team's playoff run, but he still plans on taking visits to Kansas, Louisville, Florida, and Cal after his season is over. Those 4 schools are in his final list along with ND where he already took an official visit, and to a few others where he's visited on nonofficial visits.

Even thougth he's been slowed with a high ankle sprain of late, through nine game Cyrus has rushed 222 times for 1800 yards and 28 touchdowns. He thinks he is back to about 92% right now. Here's a quote that will affect his descion on choosing a school. "The percentage of athletes that graduate at a school is important to me," Gray said. "I would like to major in Dental health so it helps if a school has a good program. I will be looking to see how coaches react with the players, the depth chart, and the surroundings of the school."

Don't waste any time worrying about him. We are NOT getting him. The RB situation is set for a few years. We have 3 front line guys on the roster now and will add another solid guy in Jonas. If Jabbie comes back next season, we will be 5 deep with talent. I would say that Jonas will probably Redshirt if Jabbie comes back. No sense wasting carries on a guy when we have 4 guys capable of doing anything we need. Gonna be one back a year for next couple recruiting years.

Yeah, but how many of them are true homerun threats at the college level, especially in the return game? That's why they're still going after him. A national championship caliber team needs more than a few big time game breakers that are a threat to go the distance everytime they touch the ball. Right now ND has a few that we know of. If they get Walker that would be another, but one more couldn't hurt. What if Allen were to go down as a Jr or Sr.? If they had C.Gray behind him he could step right in and the offense would still have that big play ability at RB.
