I've owned a dog before, so how different can it be.Maybe, maybe not. Hard to make that claim until you have had a family. For the record, I felt the same way as you many moons ago.

I was fairly indifferent on the topic as well.Maybe, maybe not. Hard to make that claim until you have had a family. For the record, I felt the same way as you many moons ago.
One you have to change diapers, the other you take outside. I'll let you figure that out.I've owned a dog before, so how different can it be.
No, it wasn't a joke. Claiming it was is like getting caught saying something inappropriate and trying to pass it off as harmless by saying, "Oh, I was just joking." I've watched the video. She wasn't joking to stir people up. She was serious.Watching the video it was made as a joke to get people worked up over nothing.
It definitely was a joke. I guess this is why there isn't any good conservative comedians? No, it wasn't a joke. The entire point of what Disney and other entertainment entities are doing is to normalize controversial behavior or views or values by repeatedly pushing them in cartoons, TV shows, movies, culture, and etc. Doing this on the adult level is bad enough. Doing it to young children is inexcusable. It's not their place to essentially brainwash other people's children.
You didn't answer me the first time I asked this, so I'll ask again. If any entity - a religion, culture, political party, etc., etc., controlled most of the media and used it to push their values and views on you, your family, or the children you expect to have soon, would you be OK with that? That's a rhetorical question and we all know the answer is no, of course. NOBODY should be OK with that. That you might agree with the views and values and agenda being pushed in the current matter doesn't make it any more acceptable or right than if the situation was reversed and it was you and your family being force fed something you disagreed with.
A member of my ‘liberal super friends’ at UTEP that I’ve talked about is this exactly. She’s straight, 100%, been married twice, has kids, all that good stuff. She refuses to be called straight, she’s gay because ‘they’ need to feel included. She also is a ‘hard core catholic’ but refuses to attend church until they accept abortiob, gay marriage and communism. She’s an interesting case guys, GREAT office mate, good friend,… good colleague,… and then politics gets brought up and instantly everyone is a fuckin nazi, complete moron, deserves castration etc,… she’s one of the most Jekyll and Hyde personalities I’ve ever met. And yes, she was one of the group flipping a shit over a white dude with an American flag insisting he was a white supremacist. I honest to God feel like I’m the Truman show contestant with these people sometimes, and frankly some on this site make me wonder as well. How anyone with a functioning mind could even,…Its also worthy to note the relevance of the representation. Over 1/2 of the LGBTQ community identifies as bi-sexual. The vast majority of that 1/2 if female. Coming from a family of 8 and most of us working social work a few of us have stories where happily married women and some men that identify as bi-sexual for no other reason but to support the LBTQ community. I never really seen this for myself until I saw a former co-worker of mine have a status on her social media profile that she was bi. When I asked her about it she got all defensive and said it was none of my business (even though it was posted publicly) then blocked me on social media. My Brother works at a University and said there are men and women that self identify for the cause and they have advocated others do it as well to help the cause during work meetings. At the time I just thought it just wokies being woke and virtue signaling but never really thought about the impact on stats and representation, although things like this could barely move the needle. Just found it interesting.
When I worked in a treatment center for 18 and under sex offenders I felt labels were pushed. We had 12 year boys that may have fondled their 10 year old brother or something. We had Therapists tell the kids if they the fondled a boy its a gay act therefore they are gay or bi and that its like being an alcoholic, once an alcoholic always one. When questioned by their peers they would use the "there is no such thing as conversion therapy". Some of the therapists had these kids admitting they were bi/gay at age 12 "as part of their treatment". Once the Therapists got them to come out they would ask the child if they would like to come out to their parents or if they would like the therapist to make the call and tell them. It was sickening. It's amazing when you contrast what IS acceptable and MUST be forced down our children's throats against a parent's wishes...I’ll only add one thought to this thread related to Disney and/or any other sources of information for children. Children are sponges and they absorb everything so if the source of the information is “pushing” a certain viewpoint, there‘s a decent chance the children could absorb that viewpoint. As parents, I think we want to have the ability to decide what’s appropriate for our children. It’s become an even more unenviable task in this time we are living in. Yosemite Sam is now deemed as not acceptable for children because he’s too violent and Pepe LePew is not acceptable because he was a sexual predator…….who actually decided this for us?
Just wait. lolIt definitely was a joke. I guess this is why there isn't any good conservative comedians?
If you think being gay is controversial then you will be continually offended at norms the rest of civilized society has accepted. You should send a strongly worded email to ABC about the horrors of Modern Family being aired.
I look forward to your response on if the little mermaid song was inappropriate, because you did state all sexualization is bad. So, I was able to find that and I'm assuming you don't want children to listen to a song about kissing.
Not sure what television package you have, but I encourage you to upgrade it asap if you would like to move away from watching Disney. If you're worried about your children watching it at friends houses, don't allow them to go out. If being exposed to this is as bad as you say then I'm sure your children will understand.
I think this is a point everyone should agree on. Look at Twitter. When they banned Milo (Greek last name too difficult to spell) and Alex Jones, it was “no big deal” b/c those dudes are stirring the pot by spreading disinformation &/or “hate speech”. Once that is socially acceptable, they come for more moderate thinkers who are simply voicing opinions or standing up for their beliefs. Then they come for someone that we/you align with or at least know are thoughtful in their arguments for/against a given topic. It’s time adults think for themselves and not need a social media platform or a media outlet to decide what we as a populous can handle intellectually. Banning the kooks or the pot stirrers isn’t going to change the mindset of those who digest everything they say. It’s just going to push them underground. I look at those who have been banned as the bait that attracts the like-minded lemmings who buy into every conspiracy theory or hateful rhetoric so we see them for what they are. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. No, it wasn't a joke. Claiming it was is like getting caught saying something inappropriate and trying to pass it off as harmless by saying, "Oh, I was just joking." While there are some great comedians who espouse views from both sides of the spectrum, my favorites are the ones w/ the South Park attitude of making fun of ALL sides. Daniel Tosh will have a field day with this topic and it will offend both sides and everyone in between. And I’m here for it.Just wait. lol
There's been some great routines over the years. Robin Williams and Bill Crosby had a couple of great routines on kids and parenting. If only parenting were black and white. While there are some great comedians who espouse views from both sides of the spectrum, my favorites are the ones w/ the South Park attitude of making fun of ALL sides. Affordable housing… if true Disney parking just became dangerous parking.Disney needs Florida more than Florida needs Disney. Disney has invested a stupid amount amount of money in Florida that they can't get back.
This explains Disney's recent announcement that they intend on building a new development.
Ohhh... it turns out they will never leave Florida. Lmaooo. They want to look tough so they can encourage a certain type of people to get Disney Plus.
This shit is so easy.

Oh, well good thing even less resources will be available to them now.
(CNN)The Florida Department of Education announced Friday the state has rejected more than 50 math textbooks from next school year's curriculum, citing references to critical race theory among reasons for the rejections.
In a news release, the department stated 54 out of 132 of the textbook submissions would not be added to the state's adopted list because they did not adhere to Florida's new standards or contained prohibited topics.
The release said the list of rejected books makes up approximately 41% of submissions, which is the most in Florida's history.
Reasons for rejecting textbooks included references to critical race theory, "inclusions of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics," the release states.
Critical race theory has become a social and political lightning rod. This is how we got here
Critical race theory has become politicized in recent years, with opponents arguing the area of study is based on Marxism and is a threat to the American way of life. But scholars who study it say it explores the ways in which a history of inequality and racism in the United States has continued to impact American society today.
"Critical race theory is a practice. It's an approach to grappling with a history of White supremacy that rejects the belief that what's in the past is in the past, and that the laws and systems that grow from that past are detached from it," said Kimberlé Crenshaw, a founding critical race theorist and a law professor who teaches at UCLA and Columbia University.
Educators in multiple states have argued critical race theory is generally not included in grade school teaching.
Florida banned the teaching of critical race theory in schools in June 2021. At the time, Gov. Ron DeSantis said allowing critical race theory in schools would teach children that "the country is rotten and that our institutions are illegitimate."
Florida Department of Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran, right, alongside Gov. Ron DeSantis, speaks at a news conference in March.
According to the ban, instruction in schools must be "factual and objective." It specifically prohibits "theories that distort historical events" -- including "the teaching of Critical Race Theory, meaning the theory that racism is not merely the product of prejudice, but that racism is embedded in American society and its legal systems in order to uphold the supremacy of white persons."
Florida also banned teaching material from the 1619 Project, the New York Times' Pulitzer Prize-winning project to reframe American history around the date of August 1619, when the first slave ship arrived on America's shores.
The highest number of books rejected were for grade levels K-5, where an "alarming" 71% were not appropriately aligned with Florida standards or included prohibited topics, the release said.
Despite rejecting 41% of materials submitted, every core mathematics course and grade is covered with at least one textbook, the release said. In a statement, DeSantis said he is grateful for the department's thorough vetting of these textbooks to ensure they comply with the law.
"It seems that some publishers attempted to slap a coat of paint on an old house built on the foundation of Common Core and indoctrinating concepts like race essentialism, especially, bizarrely, for elementary school students," the governor said.
Ohio university to pay professor $400K after disciplining him for refusing to use a transgender student's pronouns

(CNN)A public university in southern Ohio has agreed to pay a professor $400,000 after it disciplined him four years ago for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred pronouns, according to Shawnee State University and a news release from the professor's attorney.
The settlement means the philosophy professor, Nicholas Meriwether, will not be required to use certain pronouns regardless of a student's request, his attorney's release states.
The ruling comes as schools across the nation grapple with balancing the inclusivity of transgender students and the religious beliefs of some teachers.
Meriwether sued in 2018 after he was disciplined, and a federal district court dismissed the suit for lack of standing. Then, last year a three-judge appellate panel revived the lawsuit and sent it back to the lower court, where Meriwether could have argued his First Amendment rights of free speech and religion and his 14th Amendment right to due process were violated.

"As part of the settlement, the university has agreed that Meriwether has the right to choose when to use, or avoid using, titles or pronouns when referring to or addressing students," the release from Meriwether's attorneys read. "Significantly, the university agreed Meriwether will never be mandated to use pronouns, including if a student requests pronouns that conflict with his or her biological sex."
Shawnee University called it an "economic decision."
"Though we have decided to settle, we adamantly deny that anyone at Shawnee State deprived Dr. Meriwether of his free speech rights or his rights to freely exercise his religion," the school's statement read.
"In this case, Shawnee State followed its policy and federal law that protects students or any individual from bigotry and discrimination. We continue to stand behind a student's right to a discrimination-free learning environment as well as the rights of faculty, visitors, students and employees to freely express their ideas and beliefs."
Shawnee State, in Portsmouth, serves more than 3,600 students.
Professor filed suit in 2018
Shawnee State introduced a policy in 2016 requiring the use of a student's pronouns to match their gender identity, according to Meriwether's complaint. The professor pushed back, claiming this went against his beliefs as a Christian.

A series of compromises then was discussed over months, including Meriwether offering to "use any name the student requested instead of titles and pronouns," the release from Meriwether's attorneys said.
The school opened a Title IX investigation against the professor, ultimately concluding Meriwether's treatment of the student created a "hostile environment," and the dean of the university's College of Arts and Sciences recommended putting a formal warning in his file. Had the behaviors continued, Meriwether was on the hook for suspension without pay or even termination, his complaint read.
Since the lawsuit was filed, the school said, "it became clear that the case was being used to advance divisive social and political agendas at a cost to the university and its students."
"That cost is better spent on fulfilling Shawnee State's mission of service to our students, families and community," its statement read.
Disney Gets Tangled in Big-Picture Pushback
It’s taken a long time for Americans to wake up to what Disney has been doing quietly for years.
LISTEN
As much as it would pain the Left to admit it, Bob Chapek was right. The Disney CEO, whose back must hurt from bowing to so many LGBT demands over the last month, warned that getting involved in Florida politics would “divide and inflame.” At the end of the day, it’s “counterproductive,” he tried to argue. Four weeks and a nationwide boycott later, the company and its extremist hijackers are learning a painful lesson: This isn’t the conservative movement of 10 years ago. They’re squaring off against a Georgia-hardened, nationwide parents-led rebellion that doesn’t back down to bullies. Not anymore.
After four years of Donald Trump, who refused to negotiate with the Left’s cultural terrorists, conservatives started finding their voice on tough issues. But the real turning point came in early 2021, after a bruising election that left millions of voters feeling betrayed, suspicious, and angry. When Republicans started passing a wave of election reforms, Democrats decided to run their most reliable play: training the full wrath of the Left on the first state out of the gate so that others are too scared to follow. Unfortunately for them, the winner was Georgia.
Hollywood, Big Tech, and corporate America descended, squeezing all of the familiar pressure points in hopes that Governor Brian Kemp (R) would break. He didn’t. In fact, after days of abuse and media harassment, the governor became more outspoken, more resolved. By the time Major League Baseball made its desperate decision to pull the All-Star Game from Atlanta, the Left had already lost. And in the process of that humiliating and costly defeat, a grassroots fire was lit.
Parents, who were just starting to take over the nation’s school board meetings, tapped into years’ worth of outrage at the woke culture infiltrating our classrooms, businesses, and entertainment. Now, suddenly, companies like Disney — who are used to people rolling over and surrendering on LGBT issues — have been shocked into silence. Turns out, Americans across every major demographic agree with Florida: Children under eight shouldn’t be exposed to sex and transgenderism at school. And the idea that anyone — let alone an empire built on kids — would oppose that (or worse, aggressively try to sexualize children on their own) has turned into a rallying cry so powerful that Chapek is ordering a media blackout. In a complete about-face from a handful of days ago, Disney is refusing to take interviews about the Florida law, apparently “hoping the whole thing blows over.”
That’s wishful thinking, NRO points out. In the last year and a half, conservatives have learned what it takes to win these woke wars, “[and] there is no reason to believe that things will go differently with the fight over adding gender ideology to the K-3 curriculum in Florida.”
And yet, there are still companies foolish enough to test the consumer market on social issues. Citigroup, who infuriated the House of Representatives by agreeing to pay for employees’ abortion travel and lodging costs, has taken its share of lumps from Texas leaders for the policy. Now, despite threats that the House will cut ties with the financial company (which is the exclusive credit card of members), other CEOs are jumping off the same deep end. Yelp, Apple, dating apps Bumble and Match, and car services Lyft and Uber have all announced policies that would directly or indirectly fund their staff’s abortion-related fees. “Some businesses, including Salesforce, have gone so far as to offer to relocate employees living in states with abortion bans,” CNBC points out.
If businesses want to wade into the culture war, then they’ll have to accept the financial consequences. And right now, there are plenty. Across social media, the stories of moms and dads canceling trips to Disney or ending their subscriptions to Disney+ are coming in bigger and bigger waves. Elected officials are openly calling for boycotts of the company — or, in the GOP’s case, returning their Disney campaign donations. If Apple, Yelp, Citigroup, and others think they’ll escape the woke wars unscathed, they’ve got another thing coming.
It’s taken a long time for Americans to wake up to what Disney has been doing quietly for years. And as corporations like them become more activist in nature, so will consumers. “Some may think parents, including me, are overreacting,” Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R) said. “We are not… If we cannot fight for our children, then what can we fight for?”
As Christians, it’s time to start putting our money where our values are. That might require little sacrifices here or there. Maybe it means giving up your favorite Oreos and Mars candy. Maybe it means swapping out some of your go-to brands for off-label products. Or maybe it means playing a board game instead of going to the latest blockbuster. At the end of the day, voting with our wallets is just as important as voting with our ballots. Sure, consumer activism can be uncomfortable or inconvenient — but this is the kind of stewardship we’re called to as believers. The last thing we should want is for what we put into the offering plate on Sunday to be canceled out at the box office on Friday. “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (I Corinthians 10:31).
If you need help tracking companies, check out our friends at 2nd Vote. They’ve taken some of the guesswork out of shopping by ranking brands on a set of key issues. If businesses can’t stay neutral on the things that matter, neither should you!
Musk was interviewed today and said something to the effect of the loons on the left and right should be equally upset,… instead currently you have everyone on the right upset and the loons on the left totally empowered… I completely agree. It’s totally fine to have rules so long as the ump calls it the same both ways,… thats not what has been happening for years now tho. So much so that the left instinctively throws a hissy fit if anyone implies equality in that regard should come back.
Florida teachers decided to use their position to push extreme gender ideologies and sexual crap on kids. Disney could have sat silent. Disney walked into this hole voluntarily and revealed some pretty wild positions in the middle of it. A total unforced error from Disney.Poverty? Climate? Infrastructre? Education?
A Jedi craves not these. We gotta take on Disney.
BINGOThe left knows that big tech and Twitter are working in line with them to control the narrative. Of course, they feel threatened by free speech. They don't want that, they want to control the speech and prevent those with differing ideas to suppressed.
Twitter has inconsistently applied its own terms of service against conservatives. You can share hacked materials, as long as they don't harm the narrative. It's not hard to find a conservative popular account that hasn't been suspended. You can play the game of Trump isn't allowed, but violent dictators are. The Babylon Bee got shut down for calling a biological male a man. The NY Post shared a real piece of journalism and was suspended. The 2020 election was unfairly impacted by the censorship of legitimate information about Joe Biden. Ohh, and liberals who identify as fact-checkers can cause disclaimers on valid information or suppression of legitimate news. The description of trending topics always sounds like it was written by a gender science major too. The list goes on. Musk must free Twitter.

Are you saying DeSantis has not addressed any of the other topics or that the actions of Florida legislators should be limited to those? Given the performance of the Biden team, we would be greatly benefited by them focusing on Disney.
Tell me why your examples and Disney can't be dealt with at the same time?Poverty? Climate? Infrastructre? Education?
