Interesting article from Shaun Davis at IB.
Basically saying that Tate’s first love for a school is ND and this is where he wanted to be all along. But recruiting was poor and OSU took the lead. He was supposed to commit to OSU in December but with the coaching change at ND he slowed things down to give ND another chance.

Seems like a lot of speculation based on guess work and observation to me.

How very “IB” of him to rely so heavily on gut and speculation.

The whole premise of that article is a sham, but I expect nothing less from the "my gut has more credibility than your facts" crew at IB.

ND was the first school to start recruiting him heavily, but that does NOT mean that ND was his first love. It's well documented, IN THIS VERY THREAD, that he's been an OSU guy since he was a kid.

IB is just using the "another elite recruit that BK and Del didn't recruit properly" thing to paint a rosy picture of Freeman and Rees' efforts, that way they get some extra clicks from a recruitment that is popular right now.

Some things going in our favor
1. Moore is likely headed here.
2. ND is less than an hour from his family, Ohio State is over 4 hours away.

We need Moore to go public, Tate to get hyped, and visit together end of April. I truly believe with out those and OSU getting the last swing this is finished. But the above is certainly possible.

Well it’s clearly documented that Tate started the recruiting process as an Ohio State dream schooler so the foundation of this take is wrong.

ND may have taken the lead at some point early on in his freshman / soph years at Marist but him being at IMG was no bueno for the home team.

I'm not holding my breath here regardless of Moore.

The two Texas kids with a couple of others will be fine, as much as Tate would be significant both on field and with recruiting optics.

If offered any 4 from this group in exchange for letting Tate go today, I'd take it. This is a great WR haul no matter the combination:

- Malik Elzy
- Rodney Gallager
- Jaden Greathouse
- Ronan Hanafin
- Braylon James

I'm with you and this is where I've been for awhile. Get those 2, maybe a "speed" guy, and possibly a 4th like Hanafin and I'd be happy.

I'm also really hoping the staff doesn't get hell bent on signing 4 or 5 WR's this cycle to fix the numbers problem. Get 3, maybe 4 (particularly if it's a guy like Hanafin who has position flexibility) this cycle, hammer the portal again for a grad transfer (or maybe undergrad transfer), then get another 3 in '24, along with maybe another grad transfer. Oversigning in any given cycle causes problems down the road.

I disagree.

We absolutely cannot settle on 3. 4 is a minimum. And avoiding oversigning doesn't guarantee we avoid those down the road problems. We only signed 2 in 2019 and 3 in 2020, and we have ZERO left from both classes in the WR room.

I hear ya, but disagree wholeheartedly. Get 4 WR’s minimum this year. There will be attrition amongst the current WR room and likely will certainly be some within future recruiting classes

I get what Hog is saying though on don’t take guys just to take them. But if they are a top target that we know about now, all of them are takes IMO. If we’re talking about an expanded board in 8 months the answer could be different.

If the offense is going to open up more, we need to the bodies so guys can get a breather on the sideline. You never know who is going to be unavailable because they are injured, in the doghouse, grades, illness, etc.

Moore is the only chance we have at landing this guy IMO, and even then I believe it's still OSU's recruitment to lose.
Literally this. Wake me up if/when Moore is official. Until then expect the OSU visit to "be everything he hoped for" and them to virtually have him locked up (he already tried to commit but ND talked him out of it).

I think he is transferring to ND in 2024. Just go get a year of the OSU girls then grow up and focus on school and football.

If ND fans haven't already, just check out of this recruitment until he signs wherever.

The comments on the Vols and Nico are interesting. Sounds like there are at least two QB’s/schools that have possible package deals for Tate.
