Interview I saw on Twitter that said he expects MFMF to be in school on Friday.

Sounds like maybe the staff is asking guys to come back for bigger days later on maybe?........ Or that's what I hope

I don't think it's indicative of how MF will be as a recruiter, but the first 2 months have been a flop. Million visits, and all that's come of it is a weak Jr day and our commits visiting other schools.

Sorry but what did you expect from a HS bump in? Someone to commit in between Geometry and Chemistry?

"Recruiting" doesn't matter anymore. Just going to be a combination of fit + $$ for most highly rated recruits. The sales aspect and "out working" people is over... ironically, as soon as we get a head coach that can recruit. All of the top guys that we currently have on board it's going to be a question of whether they get a "better" offer from elsewhere. I honestly don't even think it's worth paying attention to recruiting until we get a better idea of what kind of money ND is willing to put towards NIL. If it's Texas A&M style money, expect a top 5 class. If it's $0, expect a class maybe in the top 20. Is what it is.

That’s a very optimistic take. I’ll go with that too so I feel better about it.

I don’t think they aggressively pursued many kids to visit this weekend. At the same time, I think you’d have expected some more, from the Midwest specifically. Ausberry is a legit blue chip and it sounds they mutually agreed a future date was best. Washington being confirmed in time was in question and no DC yet. At play is also they want certain kids using their OVs in the spring and ND is usually confident if they lay out the red carpet on those they can win. If you get a kid on campus in January at a non-focused group weekend, you possibly take yourself out of a OV “because I already went there”. The last part, is the kids that were meant to get the focus this weekend was if any 2022s would be using their OVs. That of course didn’t happen but that in theory was supposed to be part of this weekend. In the end, I think it was smaller than you’d like but it was never supposed to be as big as some may complain.

Yeah I bet he didn't propose to his wife after their third date, either.

My concern when he was hired was, if we don’t get the consistent bump in recruiting then is it the right hire? Obviously the verdict is still out but my opinion on it remains the same. And, I think we’re already seeing some inexperience showing itself.

On Luke specifically, Loy is saying that ND kept pitching DL while everyone else was saying OL. He made the decision on OL and ND was late to pivot. Michigan and OSU in front.

Sounds like this one is over and I’m not entirely sad about it, as far as Luke is concerned. More bummed that it likely takes a top ‘25 QB of the board already. But who are kidding, Rees wasn’t going to land him anyway.

Our chances were entirely down to Luke deciding he wants DL. I'm actually a little disappointed that we decided to pivot away from that after Elston left, as it was our only realistic chance (even with his preference being OL). Regardless, OL is the least of our worries this cycle. If we can land Jason Moore, this won't hurt DL in any meaningful way either.

Maybe Washington doesn't like him as a DL prospect? Maybe Harry doesn't like him as an OL prospect? Either way, 0% worried about the OL position, and I'm confident that ND will be fine along the DL as well. Biggest disappointment is that there's no QBs visiting this weekend from any of the next 3 classes imho.

On the other hand, if Notre Dame's not competitive in the NIL game AND doesn't hire a coach/staff that emphasizes recruiting, we're even worse off. Freeman & Co. are getting in the door - and even commits, which is alot more than "in the door" - with kids his predecessors did not. Some of them will like what they see.
As for the impact of NIL, time will tell. It's the Wild West right now but it'll settle down.

ND will always sell it's NIL program as a part of holistic development of student athletes. The bag seekers weren't coming before and aren't coming now.
