My point was simply the point I will make about anybody playing in the NFL, not just Ian, which is any NFL player isn’t a poor man 16 year old HS player. That’s all I’m saying.

I guess what I would say is you have changed the context of the comment. The comment was made specifically about his physical traits, so how is it unfair to say a guy who is 2 inches taller, will play at 20 lbs heavier, and has an equal if not stronger arm at 16 has better physical qualities?
i guess where I was going with the post is that his game is a lot like books, but with a much higher ceiling than book due to the superior measurables. If he harnesses and maxes out those abilities like Book did, he is going to be one hell of a QB.

I think you missed the point... all of what you said is true but it doesn't change the point. Jackson Arnold, an unknown, has more potential to be great at this point than Ian Book does ...

Ian Book COULD be Tom Brady but he's likely not

Neither scenario is meant to diminish Ian either

Winner winner…

I agree with this post.
My disagreement was the poor man argument.

New Jackson Arnold highlights http://www.hudl.com/v/2GdaLn

Throw at 3:45 is just absurd.

If you would allow me to pick nits, he winds up too much and the ball spends part of its journey below his waistline or at it. That's going to get him in more and more trouble as he moves from HS to college. I think he's got the tools to put it all together and be a great QB at the next level though. I like his game a lot.

Arnold is very happy Freeman was hired, the two talk a couple times a week, as well as with Chad Bowden. Rees staying was an even bigger plus for Arnold. He likes that Rees played at ND and would be able to help with adjusting to life in South Bend. He's working out his visit schedule with a stop at Oklahoma coming up first.

Peyton Bowen has been on him since his announcement, and Arnold is going to try to have a decision made before summer.

We should be rooting for UGA to land Arch.

Arnold is gonna keep pushing his timeline it seems, starting to become a bit obvious

Certainly sounds like they aren't slow playing him if Freeman is talking to him a few times a week. Great to hear. Let's lock it up and let him help target WRs.

Little concerned about Texas coming on later if the lose out on Arch Manning. They haven't offered yet but obviously have the in-state sway and NIL money to make it interesting. Texas A&M already has a commit from a kid from Louisiana so as long as they hold onto him we shouldn't worry about them either.

How many recruits did Kelly ever talk to multiple times a week?

The Texas schools I don’t expect a huge concern. Didn’t even try to camp for an offer or anything there IIRC. He’s a Georgia kid.

UGA if they come knocking. OU if they don’t is our competition.

Dang, I was pretty optimistic until I read this. It feels like if Arnold is the type of guy that Oklahoma wants and they make him
their priority then it will be difficult to beat them. Maybe the coaching change there hurts them a little though.

Thanks - Didn't know that. Makes more sense then why his interest in them has been so limited then.

Outside of the other 5 star QBs, it looks like they have a few back-up offers out already. Maybe they'll hold off here regardless.

Is it? I thought it was always going to be a spring/summer decision?

Certainly is different than Riley recruiting him. The coaching change is the reason OU is our competition though. Before it was Ole Miss, now it’s OU. Lebby offered him at OU almost immediately. ND and Rees versus Ole Miss/OU and Lebby has been the constants for Arnold.

It started as after the season IIRC. I guess pushing it depends if decide in the spring meant like decide in March or decide after spring which sounds like is the plan now. All the schools down South I feel like have kids waiting. Even Dante Moore I think is holding out a bit to see what could come. He seems to say he’s interested in more schools but actions have been mainly the Midwest like you’d expect.

We need a guy willing to bet on Tommy and it’s not easy with no track record. The negative recruiting script writes itself. Hopefully Arch goes to Bama and we can snag Vizz.

QB recruiting is dominoes and Malachi Nelson to USC instead of OU + Lebby to OU from Ole Miss were double whammys. Need him to visit in the spring + UGA stay away. No idea what OUs QB board looks like besides Arnold but it’d guess he’s near the top.
