the total lack of running game is the reason we lost. The whole RB room was probably deflated by Kyren giving the team the bird.

Players I've been ecstatic have/will graduate ND and never see them again:

Jack Coan
Jonathan Doer

Joe Schmidt. And Coan having to play the entire game isn't Coan's fault, Rees is a 2nd half moron.

I’m surprised at how terrible Diggs was,… awful

He's slow and I have no idea why people think he's good. He's getting the early C'bo treatment where everyone sees something that isn't there because he ran fine against top ~90 teams. Wouldn't be surprised if he's 3rd on depth chart by end of next season.

There is nothing special about Diggs. He'll be fine, that's it.

Extremely disappointing loss.

Our team cannot be down 3 touchdowns and let a game get away like this.

Three timeouts and never tried at least get a FG before the end of the half. I told my wife this could come back and haunt us and it did.

Too conservative and lack of a running game.
Unfortunately not the start for our new head coach wr wanted or need to see.

Go Irish!

Bottom line is Sanders was A LOT better than Coan, stats be damned. Rees should go on vacation and hide out for a bit after that second half. Embarrassing is all I can say.

Why did the defense give up 600 yards? It's half talent and half being on the field the entire freaking half.

Probably a different outcome if you don't give up a td in 40 seconds before halftime and in the first drive of the second half. No reason to be gassed in either of those situations

It really was a complete program failure today.

But, no doubt about it, that defense was trash. Scheme coach. Not the first and won’t be the last time I say that. This is what this scheme was always going to bring us. For all the insane takeaway, pressure packed, and disruptive games, we’ll be getting straight recked by an average opponent. There is no change up. There is the high heat and that’s it.

Came out completely flat at halftime after we gave up that TD at the end of the 2nd. Lenzy and Austin completely failed to show up in the 2nd half until the final drive. Lenzy didn't haul in any of the 5 passes his way and Austin only had one until the final drive. Lack of separation and awareness. I really want those guys to move on, Styles was the most consistent WR on the day. He had the most receptions and yards. It's sad that your Senior WRs get shown up by a freshman like this.

Why are we throwing the ball 65 times?

Because we couldnt run it? Their game plan was obviously to avoid the run and throw all day, which they did successfully. Coan had 509 yards and 5 TDs.

Coan would have had like 600+ had he thrown some better balls and some of our receivers actually caught the ball. And the refs called half of the PI they should have.

Sucks to lose but this was an imperfect team all year. Had no answer for tempo, missed a shit ton of tackles today. A mobile QB absolutely shreds that OSU defense. We just couldn’t adjust. Disappointed but also looking forward to a bright future with more talent on the roster.

Buchner is one of the most effective running QBs in CFB. This is a fallacy of an excuse, we just didn't even try it.

Great game plan…horrible adjustments. Lack of experience on the coaching staff hurt this game. Being it’s a first game I’m hopeful there will be improvement. Definite need for an assistant with HC experience to help with in game management.

Proud of the team. With the coaching change, and opt outs they could have mailed it in before the game even started. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, but KW and KH likely make the difference today if they play.

Our program is simply incapable of winning big bowls. I don't want to ever here about Michigan and big bowls. They have won them this century..

Today couldn't happen and it did in the most embarrassing way. Same old Notre Dame.

Well I guess we aren't promoting Elston to DC. Though it looked like Marcus Freeman kind of took over the play calling down the stretch anyway.

Exactly.

But, I’d also add that they had weeks to build depth at positions like LB. How in the world that wasn’t a priority just blows me away. This has been a problem the entire season.

But not only did they not do that, the gameplan wasn’t about protecting the ILB’s it was blitzing then endlessly while they flail about. It was total failure by Freeman and staff.

It shouldn't be overlooked how bad Coan's throwing actually was. In the first half, he still had bad throws but the receivers were catching them due to the wide cushion they were given.
in the second half when the OK St secondary tighten up the coverage (with a lot of uncalled holding), those bad throws turned into deflected passes and interceptions.
