I thought this deserved its own thread, because it could get really ugly and there is no telling how many players on USC's roster could end up going to prison here. The ringleader -- who has since transferred to Jackson State -- is looking at YEARS in jail. It allegedly involves a "group" of USC players and "three dozen" total fraudulent applications. The USC players sought to defraud the government of nearly a million dollars in relief money.

I'd bet most of those guys are already gone. These things have a way of leaking out. Nobody, of course, says anyhing about the real reason for the move.

From what I read it was a former player but you never know.

I've already come across a lot of this in the work I do. My guess is that a massive fraud will be revealed little by little over the next few years.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Munir acknowledged that he applied for financial relief from the PUA program but said he was under the impression he qualified because his source of income -- reselling high-end shoes -- had dried up during the pandemic, the Times reported.

I don't think selling used sneakers on EBay or FB Marketplace count as real employment.

I suppose it could if he set up an LLC and was paying taxes on his gains (highly doubtful)

Didn't a few NFL guys get popped on a scheme for this too?
