If someone wants to dirty themselves with these antics, so be it. Not a great look even if he signs with ND.

Yeah. Like what’s the logic behind an “announcement” between two schools when you’re already committed to one. If you’re telling two schools the same thing + having an announcement you have to think ND is the one being lied to. If not, this is the weirdest recruitment in years.
Also, don’t want to share too much (there is a good deal of people want to sign up for 247 and read full update) but apparently Michigan is pitching him with NIL money whereas ND is not because we don’t buy recruits (yet).

He's not good enough to play rb at ND anyway, let him go

How hard could it be to raise $25-50m from football crazed boosters to seed our NIL fund? Really hope it's not gonna take having a handful of critical recruits bought out from under us by rivals before they're motivated to act.
Similar to SC selling Hollywood, Michigan’s NIL to me sounds like just repurposed of their pitch they’ve always used. They’ve always tried to sell their alumni, business, Michigan men branding more than it’s worth. They aren’t dropping bags like Texas/Texas A&M NIL.

Even if they're offering a relatively modest payment (say, $10k) and we're offering nothing, I could absolutely see that tipping the scales against us since Walker seems easily swayed.

Reading the articles about the NIL violations, they say there are a few rules, one of which is that the school cannot pay the player directly? So Michigan themselves aren’t offering to pay him are they, because that is one of the few things you can’t do? Another is the school can’t be the “middleman,” by setting the recruits up with people directly who will pay. I can’t remember the third violation off the top of my head?
So Texas saying they are going to pay the O-lineman is not gonna fly?

First of all, I’m totally on board with the mindset that if you’re looking then so are we. As it goes to committed prospects taking OV’s. For whatever reason we decided not to that this year.
But…we can do both. We can recruit elite prospects that have some diva’ish traits to them while also building sustainable depth charts.
This was all easily avoidable with just recruiting 3-4 more prospects, that’s it. Crazy
Absolutely agree with all of this. Additionally, in no way would I disparage this young man. His decision is his decision, and I honestly respect that and do not wish ill on him or his career. However, consequences are inevitable, and if you’re looking, then ND reserves the right to do what it’s gotta do. ND can wish him well without being left holding the bag.
sure as hell don’t respect a commit playing hat games with skunkbear paraphernalia within reach
What makes a person though? I respect the fact that he is a young man with a big decision and all the pressures that come with that. I also respect what I don't know about him. For example, why the need for attention? There are reasons people have insecurities. I'm not going to pretend I've never had any. I'm not going to hold a 17 year old stranger to standards he may or may not have been raised with. So yea, Michigan is godawful, but I'm not going to throw a kid under the bus for being duped by a fraudulent number 2 team in the country. Del and the Notre Dame staff can be held accountable though. 110%.
I think if you did a control F for every place you use the word respect and replace it withe word accept your paragraph is more accurate
Not shocking, but a few posters at II are saying he’s heading to Michigan. Loy also saying he’s heard from a few people the same thing, but didn’t say if he’s confirmed it or anything like that.
It’s being reported he has broken communication with the ND staff tonight, which is a d-bag move. Be committed for a year, never decommit, then a few hours before you can sign you stop talking to the staff of the team you were committed to. And Rivals said he told the staff as recently as yesterday he was still locked in.
Kid can go anywhere he wants, but show some integrity.
