To be fair that's probably the highest inflation in most poster's lifetimes here, or at least the highest that any can remember.
No that is not "Fair: to me, though I respectfully stipulate, ulukinatme, that it may be to you. Let us agree to disagree disagreeably.

In the household I grew up in there was no air between "FACTS" and "Fairness." the whole family were kids of immigrants, neither of my parents graduated from high school, and of the dozen plus aunts and uncles and inlaws only ONE had graduated from high school.

But meals were delicious and fun. But if you opened your mouth and pretended to be knowledgeable about something you had to be correct, or, literally, get your ass handed to you.

For a guy who's 36, October inflation is the highest I've seen in my lifetime. So we'll call it record breaking over the past 3 decades, which I would say is significant.

Nobody likes movable goalposts more than me! Shoutouts to all our 40 plus posters with different records, you the real ones!

I really don't know what to tell you, man. Literally every day people make comparisons based on timelines. Heard all kinds just yesterday during conference championships.
"This is Michigan's first appearance in the B1G championship game and their first conference championships since '04."
"This is so and so's first year with x number of passing yards since this QB in 2000."
"This is Saban's 76th SEC Championship since he took over in '07."

Saying that we're currently experiencing the highest inflation in 30 years isn't some throwaway statement, that's significant. Below average and lower average income families are hit hardest by this right now, a lot of people are affected. In a country where 54% of the population lives paycheck to paycheck, and 63% have been since COVID hit, you're talking about a majority of the country that is having to make crucial budget cuts or go without things to make ends meet. You want to talk about fair? There's your facts.

So what are you suggesting we do? Only compare current inflation to all inflation stats since they started keeping records? If so, it's still one of the largest numbers. A gunshot wound to the leg isn't as bad as one to the gut, but I wouldn't want either.

Actually use facts instead of demeaning other posters while claiming you are the bearer of truth?

Only the denial libs, journos, and dem operatives are pretending this isn't real. We were at the grocery store and every register had a conversation going on over prices. I've seen no less than ten Biden stickers on the gas pumps. My city was 50/50 Biden.

The point you raise is interesting.

I am giving you this reference, as you will understand it.
This is about "Behavior" not truth.
And the behavior here is more of groups than of individuals.

I don't know where you come out on Bonhoefer, but I found this apt and succinct.
For a parallel study, think of witch hunts and the mad crowds who wanted to burn people without evidence. Certain groups DESPISE facts
And ol' Dietrich attempts to answer:
“Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved — indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

\and here is the part that cautions against confronting "stupidity" with facts or reason:

“We note further that people who have isolated themselves from others or who live in solitude manifest this defect less frequently than individuals or groups of people inclined or condemned to sociability. And so it would seem that stupidity is perhaps less a psychological than a sociological problem.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

further
“The power of the one needs the stupidity of the other. The process at work here is not that particular human capacities, for instance, the intellect, suddenly atrophy or fail. Instead, it seems that under the overwhelming impact of rising power, humans are deprived of their inner independence, and, more or less consciously, give up establishing an autonomous position toward the emerging circumstances. The fact that the stupid person is often stubborn must not blind us to the fact that he is not independent. — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

“In conversation with him, one virtually feels that one is dealing not at all with a person, but with slogans, catchwords and the like that have taken possession of him. He is under a spell, blinded, misused, and abused in his very being. Having thus become a mindless tool, the stupid person will also be capable of any evil and at the same time incapable of seeing that it is evil.” —

Stupidity facilitates the process of the capture of society by spineless, evil forces. A narrative is created that incorporates simple explanations for complex problems, offering “solutions” and scapegoats. Whoever doesn’t conform to this standard orthodoxy becomes the “other”, an enemy to be destroyed.

I don't know your affiliation with the army, but perhaps you served.

Tomorrow is 12/7

Consider all of its ramifications.

and to what can one ascribe the Japanes internment camps other than stupidity?

But be careful.

Not only is tomorrow Pearl Harbor Day, we are in the second week of Advent, and Jesus the Christ admonished:
.
.Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
That is Matthew 7:6 right from the sermon on the mount.

For the sensibles, like ulukinatme and Irish1 (and for that matter all smart thinking Americans who manage themselves, their business and their families in realities not myth) I concede the following facts:

inflation is high
it causes problems for american households
the fed must be engaged

all true, all rational, all sensible.

So you think he just made up the statement that inflation is the highest reported in 30 years?

A quick google search showed this from NBC News

The latest Consumer Price Index for October recorded a 6.2 percent increase, year over year, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's the largest increase in over 30 years and far outpaced economists' expectations of a 5.9 percent spike.

I have always been fascinated with your posts. I typically read them in the voice of an old angry hobbit.

Natives fought with each other long before Wypepo Tribe came to the Americas. What did they fight over? They fought for food, they fought for territory, during drought they fought over fresh water and they even killed each other for sport or conquest. Some Native Tribes were very ambitious and wanted. You say "Color was Everything" and lets being it in today's context. You seem to be okay with people fighting over food, territory and resources but as long as those people are of the same color. Lets take the inner cities today. Lets talk about black on black crime that most politicians and regular folk just turn a blind eye to... are we just okay with the inner cities killing each other just like we really do not care about the savage acts of Natives killing each other sometimes for sport at times? They raped and pillaged other tribes, sometimes decimating the entire tribe and raping their women and enslaving some. The Navajo along with their Apache allies were known to go after the Pueblo Indians in the name resource gathering and preservation. Turns out that the Natives were not so much different than the Wypepo Tribe... except the technology was vastly different. Without sugar coating it the Wypepo tribe came with guns and artillery and took what they wanted. You can assume with all the pillaging the conflicts that went on before the pale skinned Wypepo Tribe that this artillery would have been used in conflict if that technology was available to them... this is proven by the fact that these Natives used these weapons when the Wypepo gave them guns and other artillery to use against other tribes. Sadly in the end the Wypepo were just too strong of a force and (right, wrong, or indifferent) took what they wanted... which is now America. Lets say the Wypepo Tribe gave one tribe guns and artillery and just left. Lets pretend they gave all of their technology to the Navajo. Its safe to assume the Navajo would have obliterated their competition in similar fashion. Would that have been okay? Would people see this as the same as they see Black on Black crime in America's inner cities? I assume so. But that's not how it happened. The Wypepo took over. The Wypepo did some awful horrible things. Lets also talk about land rights. If I step on a piece of dirt and I am the first person to step on that dirt is all the dirt that is connected to that dirt my dirt? Do I have to call scoobs on that dirt if I were to walk miles away and settle in another area? And then call scoobs when they go somewhere else? If I am settled in an area and then people of the same color come and kill my people is it now their land? If I am settled in an area and then people of a different color come and kill my people is that seen differently? Do you only "owe" something to someone if you are different color? Are we an awful civilization because Wypepo did what everyone else was doing? Or are we just awful for being Wypepo?

I am no dispenser of justice, even in fantasy. But I posted a simple blurb from Kurt
Vonnegut and the knuckledraggers told me to sell my properties. Well, that is just infantilism.

If we have lost our sense of satire and humor well, that is pathetic.

I appreciate your limning the intra Native violence.

But I don't celebrate the treatment of the Natives.

It's Vonnegut, right?

and it started (another Vonnegut term) a "poolpah"

I was bred in a ghetto (it is broader than today's definition) but we had a sense of humor and sarcasm.

And I just thought of the four wealthiest people I know., and damn, if they don't have a sense of humor.

I am not today nor ever will be the apostle to the oversensitive butthurt person.

Your dialogue however is salutary. It asks the questions that should be asked and I welcome participation in that discussion.

Dole died, and i think of him and McCain and JFK and Poppy Bush and McGovern.

They were men of humor and good cheer.

And their first loyalty was to America.

Some were liberal some were conservative (Kennedy, in may ways was more conservative than his VeeP)

but they did not shrink from discussion, or humor.

And i will continue to post stuff from Vonnegut
and Bierce
and Mencken
and Chesterton,

and I ain't selling no properties.

But your post was sound.

This, and it was one of MANY thoughtful and intentional steps to spread out power/authority (i.e. the Separation of Powers). This is the beauty of the Constitution and why Globalism, which is all about the centralization of power, sucks and leads to human suffering.

You know the primary drafter of the Consitution was
a slave owner
who banged Sally Hemings
and rewrote Christ's Gospels to take out the part that little powdered wig Tommy didn't like, right?

I think the Constitution is a yawn.

But I get geeked about Matthew 5-7 and John 14-16. Man that is awesome stuff.

And while you're joining the Globalism crew, what is the meaning of this, from Jesus, the Christ:

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

31 [SUP]q[/SUP]Andhismotherandhis[SUP]r[/SUP]brotherscame,andstandingoutsidetheysenttohimandcalledhim. 32 Andacrowdwassittingaroundhim,andtheysaidtohim,Yourmotherandyourbrothers[SUP]1[/SUP]areoutside,seekingyou. 33 Andheansweredthem,Whoaremymotherandmybrothers? 34 And[SUP]s[/SUP]lookingaboutatthosewhosataroundhim,hesaid,Herearemymotherandmybrothers! 35 [SUP]t[/SUP]Forwhoever[SUP]u[/SUP]doesthewillofGod,heismybrotherandsisterandmother.

Soooooooooooooo,, it appears that Christ directed me to embrace those who do the will of god in Estonia Poland, Hungary, the Seychelles and indonesia as my brothers and sisters, right?

Does that make Christ a globalist?

Well, heck if that does, then sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's one more for you, the second most violent thing Christ ever did.

Here it is

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Man, can you even imagine that! The son of man turns in his tracks and goes nose to nose with you and says

YOU DO NOT HAVE IN MIND THE CONCERNS OF GOD,
BUT MERELY HUMAN CONCERNS.

In other news, Merry Christmas!

Nobody's against facts. It's already been agreed upon by all in the conversation that "record breaking" was technically inaccurate, but not anyone here, including you, interpreted it differently than what he meant: the highest rate of inflation seen in decades. Your beating of a dead horse and trying to make this small inaccuracy the point of the conversation is an attempt to avoid the real issue: Biden's ineptness and poor economic policies that have led to the highest inflation in more than 30 years. Enough with the deflection. Try addressing the actual topic being discussed.

I pointed out that October saw the highest rise of inflation in decades. You're acting like I said the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor and ND beat Alabama last year. But hey, go ahead and chalk it up as a win for you. Most of us are rolling our eyes at the hair splitting.

Nobody is against facts yet you are now what the fifth poster who has felt the need to weigh in? It wasn't technically inaccurate, it was wildly and blatantly false in a post where the poster was bragging about how they were the one arguing facts. And I'm beating the dead horse? This is high comedy.

In a reasonable world Polish would have simply replied with "You know what, I got carried away with my lib pwning and drastically misstated the current level of inflation in my fact finding overzealousness. My bad"

But in OUR world not only did that not happen but we have to dig in and form a goon squad because heaven forbid one of our tribe be exposed as wrong. Again, high comedy.

At least you didn't give us another one of your homespun yarns of yore from Pleasantville to drive home your non point this time, thanks for clearly giving us just your opinion about the causes of inflation at the moment with all the value that entails.

Welcome to the resistance. You've become acquainted with the standard process, within the next day or so you'll receive a post saying you're "overreacting" or have a "hard on" for Biden/Psaki or whatever boogeyman has been chosen. That'll conclude your engagement on this subject. Pink pussy hat has been mailed to your PO box.
