Watching the game kinda felt like sex last night. It started, it wasn’t that enjoyable, couldn’t wait for it to end, when it ended I just shrugged and both of us probably had that thought “a win is a win, didn’t play our best, not a lot to brag about, hope to play better next time.”

Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about guys…

Diggs has great burst.
How many picks does Brown have now? He might be a hawk.
Mills a couple of sacks.

28 points is pathetic against this god awful defense.

Really? The Irish did what was expected.. I don't get you guys in here. 25 point win...... Has not one person watched how the Irish played since BK has been here??? This is how the Irish play against ANY team. The Irish didn't play New Mexico ST. or a FCS team like others.... The Irish just went on the road after playing a 'cut-blocking'-triple-option team in Navy and won... can someone in this forum not be happy for once???? Jesus, Joseph and Mary you guys..............

This is one of the reason we won’t ever be considered I. That too group.

I get what you're saying but ND has been one of the most consistent teams over the past 5 years. 5 straight 10 win seasons means you're doing something right. Besides all the Freshman ARE playing. 7 Freshman on Offense today. I'm disappointed/frustrated they didn't score more points but a 25 point win is a 25 point win.

I'll take a 25 point win any day but this is one of the worst defenses in the Power 5. Only dropping 28 on them is pretty disappointing.

If 35 would have made you more happy... then the Irish shouldn't have fumbled at the 4yd line on the last possession... shit happens man

Exactly. We still put up decent yards and 250 on the ground. Just didn't convert on 4th down at the 30, threw a dumb pick, and then fumbled inside the 10. Left points ont he field but it's not like we weren't moving the ball.

If this was just a one off then I’d be more inclined to pass it off as this. But, it’s not. We’ve struggled in the RZ both of the last two seasons and this year we’ve had some comically bad possessions in the RZ. In fact, it’s a pretty stark difference from where we were under Long, as far as RZ success goes.

It seems fair to wonder why is this happening? What would this look like against better competition? What needs too or should change?

After another performance where points were left on the field, it seems reasonable to discuss.

Edit: RZ offense is just part of it and it was technically pretty good tonight. But, overall we’re not getting the point production we should or need too in order to take that next step as an offense.

We're going to have 11 wins and very likely an NY6 bowl win on top of it.

At the end of this season... IE is going to hate BK and everything about what happened.

Irish fans are fucking weird. (myself included)

All depends on who we’re matched up with. 11-1 would be a very good season, doesn’t mean we’re a very good team.

I just assume Bama loses a close one to Georgia and we get them in a bowl. Never fails that we get the best of the rest teams when it come to NY6 games.

God what a bunch of bitchy miserable fans. ND Nation cloned. We're 9-1 for shits shakes. 13 guys with the flu, 11 more with out for season injuries, dominant win on the road, top ten ranking and climbing, and basically everyones pissed. Nitpicking crap about our "bad" coaching.

Closing in on 55 wins in 5 years. Our coaching is not bad. Who's better? Its a short list.

I think the bitching comes from the perception that it didn't appear that Kelly was playing with a sense of urgency. It looked to me like we were settling for a NY6 rather than fighting for a playoff spot.

The bitching comes from the fact that, despite 50+ wins in 5 years, ND is still leaving A LOT to be desired. And that is roughly the difference between ND and the next level of CFB.

Overall a solid win on the road
Disappointed that points were left on the plate; should have had at least 2 more TDs
Sack attack was nice
Hard to complain when 9-1
Glad decision to go for it instead of kicking FGs
Need to finish out season with wins
Thought UVA had some bizarre play calling that helped ND

And what exactly is the "next level of CFB?" 3 f*cking teams? Who is A LOT better than us?

I think everyone has a right to complain about the offense. Our points didn’t match our yards. Which means we didn’t finish. However anyone insinuating that BK didn’t put his foot on the gas because he’s settling is just idiotic. Bo Bauer was the only Mike linebacker available. Maybe he was trying to do long sustaining drives to keep the risk of injury down. Likewise, we only have five available receivers. By bleeding the clock it keeps the amount of plays to a minimum. Not saying I’d agree with this but I understand it and it seems like what the coaching staff planned on. Not to mention BK said post game we had upward of 13 players contract the flu this week.

My one bitch and one bitch alone is the QB position…especially when having Book who played for what seems like forever.

For whatever reason, we just can’t hit on that so important difference maker. We ever figure that out, watch out

There is no arguing against this. But are you honestly not excited about the future with Buchner. He played very little high school football. What he did play was against lower level competition. As a true freshman he is an important contributor and shows glimpses that has passing can be very good too. Outside of that I am not sure what more you can ask for from the position when this season has 3 games left and for now the position is what it is.

I think you are exaggerating here. ND Nation relishes self-hate. We loathe it and are loyal to the team and University. We’re critical, but not for the sake of being “right”. A lot of people genuinely love and appreciate this team while still being frustrated with some critical aspects that need resolution. So don’t come in here shitting on us because we are passionate.

OK fair point re NDN. I just hope we don't decline to their level where there is absolutely nothing that can make them happy. We seems to be heading there (I'm not new here, BTW) team is playing better and discourse is getting worse.

Yeah tbh it’s kinda whack. We’re down like a dozen key players to injury, have a brand new OL, and we’re headed towards 11-1 when Vegas predicted 8-9 wins. Ten years ago people would be over the freaking moon with 11-1 for a “loaded” ND team and this is NOT that. We have a starting LT who was supposed to be a project player that would take years to develop, and we ran for 250+ yards with most of those yards coming from true freshmen.

I just honestly don’t understand the pessimism when I see teams like Oklahoma struggle against Charmin soft competition for no reason; Ohio State with three first round WRs scoring only 21 and losing at home to what’s turning out to be a very flawed Oregon team; Alabama lost to a crap TAMU; Clemson with a handful of losses despite returning a loaded and veteran defense that is second only to Georgia’s AND tons of skill talent on O. I can go on and on. I’ve seen every blue blood but Georgia fuck up against inferior opponents this year for no earthly reason.

Yet people criticize the “winning is hard” mantra. It IS hard. The only valid criticism is that we need to recruit and manage the roster better to prevent QB, OL, and DB situations like what we’re dealing with this year.

Another flu outbreak vs Pitt in 2012 nearly derailed that magical regular season. Oh how this program has grown.

On ISD's post game show last night, one of their guys said the 2014 team would have gone 3-9 against this schedule and the difference is in the culture of the team.

There's not doubt this a a strong mental team. Most of the Kelly's years we would have at least 3 losses al ready. That is one area i have been really impressed with.
