For how exciting the LB position is at ND, the Ekwonu noise has been dead silent since he's been here.

I wonder how he's doing. He's never mentioned among those who will have a shot at BUCK this year on either the II or the ISD podcasts, and they go pretty deep into who it could be (Bauer, Liufau, #13, etc.).

I think someone mentioned that Ekwonu may have grown into an SDE, but I could be mistaken.

Taylor is the only one out of those five that’s proven to be a dog on the recruiting trail. I’m hoping Mickens is too, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Worst take of 2020 so far??? It has my vote.

Long Live I'm assuming by dog you mean "really good" or like a "hound dog that doesn't give up" based on your follow on statement that you hope Mickens is too. And I'm guessing that's why STP Irish is calling it a worst take. Can you clear this up?

Edit
Having now read follow up posts, my assumption was correct.

I think it’s pretty common knowledge that referring to someone as a “dog” in recruiting is a compliment. I think STP understood what I meant and just decided to be an a**hole.

I have no idea how any one would have a problem with Long Live Denson's take that Taylor is a "dog" on the trail and one of our top 5 RBs.

We landed a 5 star RB in 2020 and likely land another 5 star in 2021.

In a game of results, what more could you want? Easily a top 5 recruiter on the staff based on what he's done in small order. I'm genuinely confused.

II has been speculating he could grow into a DE. I don't know if that's because they're hearing something or just speculating in an attempt to be first. Spring should bring some answers.

I think it had more to do with singling out Taylor and leaving out the accomplishments of other recruiters on staff.

And he identified, recruited, and coached this kid into one of the best CB's in the country

Why is everyone attributing the Tyree commitment to Taylor when it was Long who landed him? Taylor putting in work on this year's crop but A) see above and B) we haven't landed anyone yet this cycle. So maybe pump the brakes on how elite Taylor has been in his short tenure at ND?

I read almost every, if not every ISD recruiting story on players we've offered. I almost never hear Lea mentioned when the run through the list of coaches who are on them.

I think Lea is as good if not better at the Xs and Os than Elko, but Elko was a dog and you need a dog.

Agree. He has recruited his position (Safety) extremely well at A&M

Say what you want about Long, he was a stud recruiter. He was probably the best recruiter on the staff.

Gardner is elite in his route recognition and breaks, but honestly isn't the fastest guy out there.

Really excited to see what Mickens can do with a physical talent like Ramon Henderson.

Pretty insane when you break it down what Mickens is trying to build from.

2017: 0
2018: Bracy - Griffith and Brown to S, Boykin transfer
2019: Converted Cam Hart - Wallace to S, Rutherford transfer
2020: Clarence Lewis, Henderson and Offord

Not to slight any of them because we’ve seen flashes and Hart/Henderson had a nice spring but look at the offer lists on the inherited group for Mickens. All three stars with best offers from:

Bracy: Cal/Utah
Hart: Kentucky/Pitt/MSU
Lewis: Kentucky/NC State
Henderson: OU
Offord: OU

Fast Forward and:

Riley: Clemson, Oregon, Texas
Barnes: Clemson, Georgia
Mickey: Georgia, USC
Moore: Alabama, Auburn
Bellamy: Clemson, OSU, LSU

Have a chance for 4 of the 5 of those to finish composite 4 stars, probably at least 3/5. In addition have Tucker and Johnson. Can debate the seriousness of those offers for some sure still a noticeable step up.

This was inspired by a Driskell tweet full disclosure. Sinclair also had a similar write up.

It's year two and his top 2 corners are a 3* sophomore that was ranked in the 700s nationally and a converted former 3* receiver.

What about Bracy? 3-star out of Cali who started out promising as he looked like a natural replacement when Love & then Pride moved on. Instead, he has regressed despite Mickens joining the staff.

Bracy has played pretty well this year and replaced Cam Hart late last week against Toledo and had a huge pass break up late in the 4th quarter.

But how has he regressed to the point that the better option is a converted WR still learning the position? Bracy also looked horrible yesterday trying to arm tackle a receiver who proceeded to get the first down.

Is our starting NB and is physically maxed out and not ideal for an outside CB. He played more snaps than either Rover. He essentially is a starter and has made positive plays this year. Playing less total snaps means less good but also less bad. Disagree with the premise he has regressed, just reutilized
