MUST READ -- FREEBIE in the tweet from Biggins/247

Yesterday I was driving on the golf cart with coach Rollinson (Mater Dei head coach) and he told me, ‘wait until you see Notre Dame, you haven’t seen anything until you see that campus and feel that history and tradition,’ so I know I’m going to have a great time.”

When was the last time Notre Dame got a player from Mater Dei that USC actually wanted? Mike McNair?

Not sure but I'm stoked about the possibility of getting him. He's a dude.

Texas wants him badly too.

The most attractive quality about Williams, as it relates to ND, is that he should be college ready as a freshman. And that is something that ND needs. A guy that can come in and compete right away. While others might have higher ceilings, they might also take longer to hit them.

I don't know which of them will come in most ready but I hope we get at least 2 that can put serious minutes up in their freshmen years.

I seriously hope it’s Colzie and Styles this year or I may start a petition to fire Rees. Just get them on the field.

Agreed. They *desperately* need to stop exclusively recruiting and signing project receivers that may or may not ever work out. Even if the ceiling is lower, they need people who can help early.

Whoa! His upper body is already developed.

And Biggins is on record as that he would be surprised if ND did NOT land him.

Williams has already played against the following teams

Bosco 5 times
Servite three times
Peoria AZ Cente3nnial
bishop Gorman
JSt. John's Was DC
Delasalle

He's played with and against big time four and five stars.

If he is not ready, by pscyhe, by size, by experience and by competiton, then no one will be.

Plus, he has a bright soul. He's always smiling.

Pretty darn important considering the numbers at WR…

Saw the bat signal by Tommy right after a pic of the Shillelagh-on Twitter. Is CJ now Irish?

I just watched his highlights and he is really legit. Definite #1 wide receiver potential in South Bend. I really love how he can play every position at wide receiver. Also a major plus that he isn't stiff as a board like Boykin, McKinley, or Skowronek.

A 2 year cycle of Styles, Colzie, Williams, Merriweather, and Walker is just what the doctor ordered.

If we get a Wiltfong and/or Biggins CB today then it might be imminent. If those don’t come, I’ll say Bellamy beats him to the punch.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I generally assume that California skill position players are significantly worse than their rankings. This is largely rooted in the number of busts that end up at USC, and how ND historically has not had a high hit rate in that state.

It’s hard to know what to think of Williams because he was not the “go to” WR as a sophomore and then as a junior they played a truncated season where they didn’t throw the ball that much. He plays against as high of a level of competition as you can, but most of his lofty projection seems to be based on 1) physical traits 2) polish. He doesn’t have jaw dropping highlights where he is breaking ankles and making circus grabs or putting the team in his back because he simply hasn’t been asked to do that Herculean shit.

No matter which school he picks, to me he’s going to be one of the most interesting player to watch as a senior.

I agree with you regarding CA skill talent. That said, I’d much rather see how he turns out at Notre Dame than anywhere else judging by the state of the receiver room after this season.

He'll shine with a QB that can deliver to the entire field. If the post Coan world becomes Book 2.0, he's still has McKinley like floor though he will be sharing the targets with a MUCH better room.

I'd say his floor is: Almost-McKinley physically with more advanced route running coming out of HS and if Buchner is who we hope, he could be the college version of Keenan Allen.

Some other things I like about him is he's not the prima donna, ball hog superstar. He's grown up & been teammates with other elite players and had to share the ball. He's also been in the limelight at the Nation's premier Catholic HS football program and then there's that 4.2 GPA. All things that make me think he's built to succeed in South Bend.

He reposted the CB predictions and one of Drew Pyne’s IG, particularly interesting given not like they should know each other prior

A very critical recruit at a position that needs numbers. Maybe not the absolute flashiest. Maybe not the best at any single thing. But he is professional. Plays on a National brand high school team and runs tight clean routes. I am hoping and kind of expecting a floor of TJ Jones who played early and often because he played the game professionally, caught the ball cleanly, and made his qb comfortable. There may be a real lack of someone that can be counted on to be consistent and catch a high volume when he gets here so my rational side values his addition maybe most of all the recruits left that we anticipate landing.
