On Walker, I don’t think this is over and I don’t think he’s a lock to stay in the class. We have quite a few examples of how this can play out both ways so it’s pretty normal speculation. Commitment out of left field, without seeing campus, telling other programs what they want to hear. The word is the staff is going to be a little more lenient with visits but how much so will probably depend on the prospects. There is a reason it was such a big deal for Tyson Ford to say he wasn’t taking other visits.
I think it’s going to come down to two things and they’re somewhat connected. 1. What the staff thinks of Walker. 2. What else the staff can get at WR. If they move on Alic and take an Anderson commitment then things get dicey for Walker. As, he’s not scheduled to visit until end of June. And, you have to factor in the possibility for Merriweather and CJ. Also, numbers are necessary due to depth chart so it’s equal parts important to get numbers and to not get wrapped up in long dramatic recruitments while missing on other guys like Anderson/Ayomanor. But, also get talent, Merriweather/Williams.
I don’t think WR recruiting is nearly as bad as all of this sounds. With or without Walker. Nick Anderson is a visit away from a commitment in a lot of folks minds. Legit 4 star talent that some people say is the best route runner in Texas. ISD guys have been calling for Merriweather to ND for awhile now. ND leads for CJ. It all depends on how he plays it out to whether or not we get the immediate satisfaction of that via his summer commitment.
If the class is Ayomanor, Anderson, Merriweather, and Williams. Nobody will care about Walker or the current consternation about WR recruiting.
