I’d suggest DL wise, it seems this is the plan moving forward:
DE: Ford, Gobaira, Agu
DT: Hinish
There is Ernest Cooper seems to be in play but I don’t know if he’s take no matter what like Lucas and Moss. Doesn’t sound like much of a “board” besides that at this point.
I think taking a 4th end is fine given how they rotate more than the other defensive positions.
I get that, but they rotate (for the whole DL) a 2 deep plus a couple. Elston has said they think of it like a top 10. 7 over 2 classes is a 3 deep plus 1 at 2 positions. That’s a lot. And, We very well could be running a system that requires more DB’s than before. Need space for those DB’s.
Good point but is the worst DB being brought in better than Wesoloak at end? Guess we will see.
Not really how that works. Step 1 is you have to recruit certain numbers at all positions so you have a competent depth chart. You recruit numbers to your base and then move on to BPA’s after that. Once they have 4 or 5 DB’s committed then we can talk about whether it should be Wesolak or ?(DB). We simply have no idea what that looks like at this time. What we do know is they’ve filled there numbers at DE with guys they really like and only have a BPA spot for arguably the top of the board prospect in Moss.
I agree with your point. There is a counter though. If ND is consistent in not just filling the numbers, but filling it with the necessary talent each year, you could roll the dice. For example, the DB recruiting in recent years has been imbalanced in that regard. So, they can't sacrifice numbers at this point given the uncertainty of the production they will get from those on the roster. We feel like they can all contribute, but's a big unknown. Now, if ND had the full safety depth chart littered with top 100 or top 200 talent, you could roll the dice a bit more on BPA. But for whatever reason, ND recruiting seems to have an annual hole somewhere, which makes it nearly impossible to roll the dice on BPA as much as ND probably could.
What does this mean? The staff is always pushing for 3-4 players near the end of a cycle and they are usually unrelated positions. We sometimes have had positions not recruited well but the staff is always willing to take a quality BPA near the end unless we've maxed the numbers. Can you point to examples where they couldn't take a stud BPA because we were missing a corner or safety?

Go back through the previous years posts. You’ll see plenty of posts where someone is concerned because we didn’t sign enough corners or LB’s or DE’s, etc. the previous year. The staff always fills the roster, but in the past there have been late offers because they missed on one or two the staff had targeted.
How realistic do we consider Lucas at this point? How about Moss?
I was under the impression we were close to drivers seat for Lucas & Moss wasn't quite a pipe dream but didn't look great.
So we're saying we aren't signing enough DEs this year? I thought his post said we routinely run out of room to take a BPA. We are always hoping to snag a few more top recruits at the end of cycle. We some times have a missed eval but that's a different issue entirely, right?
3* Josh Kattus - OH - 6-4/235 - Moeller - Michigan offer
I’ll leave this here also as the name of interest to me is Hero Kanu. He’s getting a lot of attention and the staff is probably familiar with him as he’s been with Brandon Collier before. If either name sounds familiar is because it’s Ehrensbergers former trainer.

As this article stated, Hero Kanu was in the same boat as Gobaira in that he's blowing up right now after an impressive season out West. 247Sports moved him up to #99 overall. Loy is saying he hasn't heard his name connected to ND but hopefully they get him on campus and take a hard look at him.
didn't read the article you posted so not sure if it was about what im saying but he is planning on coming to ND during the dream chasers tour
