Your example of good coaching is having your RB push your QB into the endzone for a TD to win the game ?? They absolutely STOLE that game from us ! Period.
Weis said he woulda done it himself. That rule is not enforced Bush did the right thing.
And his coaching since he got there has been stellar. One goofy play does NOT negate that.
And that ONE play alone BROKE our team for the rest of the season and the next.
OK, that's the most bizarre statement I have read so far. This team did not break that day...that very game gave them the belief they could do ANYTHING. That game made them feel like they could compete with anyone anytime. Which was wrong, but it did give them confidence.
This season will be different. Everyone is so concerned with all of the 'talent' and 'experience' that we lost from last year. Is everyone blind ? Did everyone actually watch any of those games or check the stats ? Those guys were HORRIBLE. Our defense could not stop anybody.
You do realize that the guys you don't like so much (the secondary) is almost back intact? That's the one area that was not gutted by graduation.
ALSO, the talent we are seeing practice now was mostly around last year and they were not good enough to play. Now they will play, but we don't know how good they are.
They will be green as hell. They will miss assignments. They will overthink. They will underthink. They are going to learn the hard way. Weis played the best that we had...and most of what we had is what we have now.
Time after time, our offense could not get ONE measely yard when Weis would go for it on 4th and 1. Im glad those guys are gone and we have new guys to step in. You see, for the first 2 seasons Weis was forced to play the only way that the team he inherited could play. We had ZERO run game. Horrible offensive line. No D-line. No pass coverage. And the only thing on offense we had was a QB who had to run for his life and air it out. How many times was Brady Quinn sacked and knocked down ? Look it up. So Weis had to go with what he had.
And nothing has changed except a class of 17 has joined and the one before it has aged 8 months.
Oh yay.
But that is not the Charlie Weis way. This year we will see what Weis can really do. He wants to pound the football down peoples throats, well now he can.
What are you talking about? The O-Line this year will be green. The QB, RB, and WRs...GREEN. This is a year where we see what young kids can do when they are tossed in over their heads, not what they are capable of as they mature. Our Senior Leaders are few and far between. 16 guys between two classes for the Seniors and 5th year Seniors...holy crap. The Juniors are not exactly filled with talent either.
This will be a year where Sophomores and Freshman play more than they should, but we have no choice.
He wants to use playaction and high percentage passes to BIG fast TE's. Well now he can.
We have had no issues at the TE spot. In fact that's one spot that has NOT improved, but only maintained this last couple years. Don't expect changes there.
He wants to dominate on defense. Now he can.
Based on a completely new scheme, a bunch of 2nd tier players from last year, and a few really green kids?
Ummmm...I am happy Corwin is around, but let's be clear he is ONLY teaching them the fundamentals of the D...they won't have time to learn the STYLE of it until after our toughest opponents are behind us. That does NOT bode well.
Weis is an excellent coach who has enough success in the NFL to back that up. His time to prove his worth is coming in College Football. Just wait.
This statement I agree with.
Like I said before "I love your enthusiasm..." but your expectations are a bit off.
This team has very little experience except in the secondary and the TE spot. This is a major REBUILDING year, no matter what Weis says.
