Biggest concern for the upcoming season?

I feel that the biggest concern for us this upcoming season will be the play of our O-line. If they preform like they did last year, it's going to a very long season. I thought our OG's did a ver piss poor job not only in pass protection, but in run blocking as well. Morton, and Santucci not only missed blocks, but to me seemed to have a lot of holding penalties as well. I also thought Ryan Harris, for being a starter for much of his career, didn't play up to expectations. He didn't seem to have as good of a year as his Jr. year. I could be wrong on that, but it seemed like he was giving up sacks easier, or getting beat by guys that he should have handled better. What's everybodies biggest concerns for this season?

I agree that the O-Line is most important. They have to open up holes for our RBs and they have to give the QB time to throw. Go irish!

I think the defense is going to have to come out and make some big plays throughout the entire season. Much the same they did the year with willingham when they were outscoring the offense. If out defense can play hard and we can score a few, we can win alot of games.

I am going to say our DL and then WR. The WR are not proven and with a new QB we need to WR to step up and help out Carlson.

I am concered with the DL play. I think that Laws will hold his own on the inside, but if we don't get any pressure from the defensive ends, it doesn't matter how the offense plays because we will be getting outscored each game. I hope that the linebackers pick up the 3-4 quickly and help out the line. I am not concerned with the offense because Charlie is a genius and he will find a way to get the playmakers involved and will be able to utilize each player's unique individual skills.

Other than the fact that we have a new Defense, QB, RB, and WR I have no concerns. I think if the 3-4 works then we should be fine. Weis worked miracles with Quinn and Co so I am confident he will do good things with this new crop.

Biggest fear-

KFC will discontinue sale of cole slaw. I love their cole slaw.

Mice eating my peanut butter cereal. I have a horrible mouse problem at my house. Caught like 5 this year alone, even hung one by it's neck in the kitchen just to send a message to all other mice to stay the hell away from my Reece's cereal.

Kaplan, you reflect my thoughts. The offense is going to surpise even ND. The defense will benefit from Coach Minter's stress on reads and will excell with Coach Brown's new scheme and knowledge of the Pro 3-4 system. This year we move forward not backward.

My only fear is the lack of strength of freshmen and sophomores. We have a recognized guru of strength and conditioning in Coach Mendozza. There is none better. If he pulls off a one year miracle with the sophomores, then we can make a run at the national championship.

Hell yeah. I'm in Oil City or as I like to call it, the Redneck Meccah of PA.

Yeah, we're definitely catching a game.

I took it as a dig on Willingham for having such an anemic offense that his defense often outscored his offense. That's what he gets for playing a game where the lowest score wins so often. :)

Biggest Concern - Athleticism. If you look at the games we have lost over the past couple years, we have been beaten by superior athletes. The best example in my opinion is what Jarrett did to our DB's last year. Jarrett is not a great receiver but he is a superior athlete compared to our DB's. I think we saw a lot of this against LSU as well. We will have a lot of young guys in the mix over the next 2 years and if they can match athletism with our opponents we will have a chance to win some games we are expected to lose. We need better athletes who are allowed to just play at a lot of different positions.
