wow, 4.48? If Brown and McCarthy both commit, any possible way that one of them sees time on offense?

I'm hearing ND. There's some very bleak hope that he's waiting to announce at the camp to tell Tressel he wants to be a Buckeye, but everyone I know has pretty much conceded that he just wants to tell Tressel in person that he's going to ND. He's a classy kid and a great Athlete. I personally think he's better than the Slaughter kid you got earlier. McCarthy is such a fluid athlete, combined with tremendous strength, and great football awareness and instincts, and he's a perfect safety IMO.

I've heard the same as well. As has Svoboda, as has TAA (if you know him from DD, so not entirely a fool-proof lock after he advertised the Shayne Hale bit o news, but a guy nevertheless), as have others at DD that PMed me. Translation here being, I've probably heard from half a dozen posters on McCarthy, and they're all telling me he's ND within the next 3-4 days. Nothing is a stone cold lock in recruiting, but our odds of getting him are pretty darn good at this point.

I have a feeling this could end up being like the time we had to turn Jevon Kearse down. Someone's going to commit, and we won't have any schollies.

well, wouldnt weis have to take whoever commits first. i dono how it would work if say by some crazy circumstances we get 7 highly rated guys, then Hale decides he wants to come here. thats not a mistake its like what happend with Mustain if he had turned out to be a star, couldnt take him cause the class was filled up.

-----So? Mustain is a mamas boy and now we have Clausen. Weis always has a plan...I don't think anybody else is complaining? Plus the fact that I would bet a million dollars that if McCarthy commits this week, that when Jeremy comes on his visit he'll have a chance to committ.

Brown will definately have a chance to commit and I'll gladly take him. There is just so many ways to use his athletic ability. Not to mention a Orlando, Florida connection.

I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure that in Holtz's later years we had a full class and then Jevon Kearse decided to commit. Holtz told him that we didn't have any space left in the class for him, and that he had to go elsewhere.

As for Weis not making that mistake...It wasn't really a mistake on anyone's part except for Kearse. ex.) Let's say half a dozen more guys commit and we now have no room left for any players. Well, come signing day, five star recruit Joe Shmoe decides he wants to play for the Irish. Weis can't tell a guy already committed that he has to find a new schoo to make room for Joe. (Well, he technically could, but he wouldn't.) He would wish Joe the best and tell him to find a different school.

Those are the kinds of kids we need to make this offense explode (in a good way), and the ones that we have been lacking the past few years.

i was just using mustain as an example, not saying im dissapointed we missed him or anything. im just saying it seems like the kearse thing could happen to weis too, just because the way recruiting is

Personally, I'll take a Lou Holtz/Jevon Kearse mishap over a Tyrone Willingham/"Would someone PLEASE commit to me?!?!" any day of the week. We'd all love to find the balancing point, but if you gotta pick one or the other, I'll take a class that fills up too quickly over one that doesn't materialize at all. Maybe a bit of an apples to oranges comparison, but there might be some link between the philosophies behind it.

Yeah. When you get to thinking about it, the Jevon Kearse thing kicks ass, in a way. Unless the class is full of crappy players, which ours isn't.

At first I wasn't real high on him. I guess you could say he's kinda grown on me now tho. He's built like a pure saftey (size, speed, AND mental). He's a playmaker and will be glad if he's Irish.
