Who is "Swan"?

I believe it's Sean Cwynar, though I'm once again uncertain as to the pronunciation after hearing Joseph Fauria say his name in interview. I've heard it as both "SW-EYE-NAR" or "KW-EYE-NAR".

Mike Frank always pronounces it, "SW-EYE-NAR", so that is probably the correct way, plus it make more sense for a nickname like Swan.

Mike Frank constantly mispronouces names. He kept saying Fauri "EY" for Fauri "UH" that was really bothering me because i remember his dad playing and never hearing it said the way Mike Frank said it.

I am a firm believer in the don't count your chickens till their hatched rule, but it is hard not to be optimistic about Newman after reading some of his latest comments. Of course, I have to remind myself that there was an almost foregone conclusion that Newman would commit at the B&G game, so I should be able to easily restrain my optimism. In any case, Brandon is making another visit to South Bend at the end of the month, and reading between the lines of the purposes of the trip, there seems to be a good possibility that Newman will commit during that visit.

There I said it, curses be damned! Just to make sure though, I will be sure to say a silent prayer at the Grotto when I am on campus next weekend.

He should be taking to the nearest strip club like New Mexico University for a recruiting visit, that should sway him.

There is a GREAT one up the road from South Bend in a town called Kokomo, I think it is still there.

The Hugger is the name of it. I have seen a few strip joints in my like, and the Hugger is the best one I have been to. Way better than the 7th Vail in Hollywood, better than any one of them in Vegas, Chicago. Just amazing.

This is great news, thanks for the info. Keep up the good work.

Brandon is planning on visiting ND this weekend. As of right now Brandon plans on comming up on Fri. and is hoping to stay with Braxton Cave, plus he will be accompanied this time by his mom who was unable to meet with Saracino before, and his high school coach.

He should be wearing a bow for this trip as well, because he's basically coming gift wrapped!

Well if he doesn't commit during this trip or soon after I would doubt that he'll commit to ND at all. But in all likelyhood I think he'll be ND's next commitment.

I agree it's now or never, there been way to much foreplay with no action, so I think this visit is very telling if he's just a commit-tease or if he's going to give ND it's happy ending.

Great news that he is visiting ND this weekend. Like some of you I also have af eeling that he will be Irish. Why bring your mother and coach and stay with a current commit if you don't intend on becoming a member of the greatest football team in the world!!! I hope he's not teasing us.

I don't think it's a tease. Though, I do have one cautionary note.

As a fan, I hope that people don't jump to conclusions, go psycho and/or start ripping/discrediting Newman again if he does the unlikely and doesn't commit on sight. I guess I understand why folks got antsy after the B&G game, but some came off as overly emo and even immature. The "punishment" proposed by some, of needing to move on in late April/early May, and some of the flak this kid caught, didn't seem to fit the "crime" of taking a little extra time. Hopefully we've wised up, :meditate: , one way or another.

And no, I'm not pointing fingers at any one poster. I'm not trying to pick a fight, or solicit some kind of "in my defense comment" from anyone who criticized Newman's patience. Whats done is done; just please no quick trigger bashing. After hearing one of this kid's radio interviews, he doesn't deserve that kind of criticism.

Newman probably will verbal this upcoming weekend, especially if it is his coach and his mother accompanying him. However, he might do a Dayne Crist thing, of going back home, talking things over with those closest to his decision (i.e. the rest of the family), and wrapping things up soon thereafter. I mean, Hafis Williams probably wanted to verbal to ND at the B&G game, but he waited to talk to his grandmother first to get her blessing. Point being, it's not like some kind of "week later" scenario with Newman is completely farfetched, or unprecidented. You'd hope with the extra time he's taken that things are sorted, but we're not the ones living his life, so we don't know. Its just a thought that crossed my mind.

If he's not Irish by the the first weekend in June, you can pretty much write him off, baring some intervention of epic proportions. But I truly believe he's joins the ND football family very soon. Time to get excited!

Brandon Newman will be Irish. He was close to pulling the trigger once and this time, it looks like he's going to do it. Newman says not only is he favoring the Irish, but so are his parents and his high school coaches.

Well Jason, since you were the first to break the Newman cherry right before his visit, I will add that if Brandon does not commit this weekend, there will be many very surprised ND fans, and I assume there will also be much weeping and knashing of teeth. That being said Brandon should be Irish by Sunday.

My opinion, if he doesn't pull the trigger this weekend, then it isn't going to happen and I wouldn't be suprised to see an offer go out to Kabongo next week.

But, I like the way things are looking right now with Newman and I would be shocked if he isn't Irish by the end of this weekend.

It's about time, our recruiting train has slowed down a bit. Would be nice if we could nab Newman now, Blanton in a few weeks, and keep this train moving.

I hope he commits just so I can say, "Hello Newman." Too bad my name's not Jerry.

Yeah, that is going to be the headline I use on the front page story if he does commit this weekend, or soon after.
