"I was originally supposed to go to Penn State, but my plans got a little mixed up," Dotson said on Tuesday. "I got the invitation to visit Notre Dame and that was huge so my family decided on heading out there to tour the campus and stuff like that. I wasn't to see how the facilities are and just what it's like to be a part of the Fighting Irish."

"It would mean a lot," Dotson said when asked about a potential offer from Notre Dame. "Just the academics at Notre Dame are so great. It's a prestigious school and I like how it's a small school but they are really well known around the country."

his father works with former Notre Dame safety and NFL Draft hopeful Elijah Shumate's dad.

"The offer means a lot to me," said the 5-11, 160-pounder. "It feels great. I was very excited to receive it."


"The visit was fantastic," said Dotson. "The coaches were great guys. We mostly talked about life after football and how I could impact the team. What stood out the most was that everyone was so welcoming and they were all so proud to be a part of the Fighting Irish."

"It was an amazing atmosphere," said Dotson. "A great environment. A very positive experience."

"Hunter stood out," said Dotson. "The way he goes and gets the ball. He had a very nice one-handed catch and that caught my eye."

"Will Fuller is definitely someone I look up to because of the things he did for Notre Dame and someone to model your game after," said Dotson. "I'm trying to put my town and school on the map just as well."

“Notre Dame was a really special place,” said Dotson. “I visited up there for the spring game and saw how the team plays. I was impressed. Getting the offer from head coach Brian Kelly was really special to me. It really meant a lot.”


“Coach Denbrock is recruiting me from there. I think he’s a really good guy,” said Dotson. “To be honest, I think all the coaches up there are good guys. I liked that a lot. I’m actually going to call him pretty soon and set up another visit for this summer. I want to get back up there and then check out a few other schools as well.”

“Definitely the fact that they aren’t really a big school in terms of numbers of students, but they are really well known around the country,” said Dotson. “It’s also a special place to go to school. I like it there a lot.”
