Anything earth shattering in there like he had Joe Montana pj's when he was a kid and wore them to picture day at school or does he simply respect the tradition of the program?

"The offer means a lot," said Hunter. "I truly been a huge fan of Notre Dame for the longest."

I played football with this kid's coach back in the day and I'm friends with him on FB. I'll reach out to him to see if he has any scoop.

“Coach Lyght said he watched my film and from that and from talking to me a little bit, he wanted to let me know I had an offer from Notre Dame,” said the 2017 recruit. “It was special. My parents were really excited. My uncle was really excited. He likes Notre Dame a lot. He’s a fan. Everyone was excited.

“Coach Lyght was telling me about how he played in the league, was a first round pick and won a Super Bowl ring. He’s done it all. Not many people can say they won a National Championship and a Super Bowl. That definitely carries some weight with me. Who wouldn’t want to play for someone that has done all that and knows so much about the game? That’s a great experience. Clearly, he knows a little something about the sport and playing defensive back.”

“It was special to me,” said Hunter of the Notre Dame offer. “I always watched Notre Dame growing up. It felt great. Just knowing that the team I watched so much growing up actually wants me to play ball for them. It’s a blessing. It really meant a lot and it’s actually pretty cool that they think so highly of me. It gave me a great feeling.”

“The education and getting a degree and graduating from Notre Dame is what really stands out to me and my parents,” said Hunter. “Just saying you went to that school opens up a lot of opportunities. It can actually get me into something else other than football. Life after football. It creates opportunities down the road in life.”

“I’m trying to get down there March 19 for that Junior Day,” said Hunter. “I’m still working on the plans with my trainer and my parents. We’re trying to make it work. From Virginia to Indiana, it’s like 12 hours or something. So, we’re trying to figure things out. Whether we will drive or fly. We’re just trying to make it work.”

“Everyone is the same at this point,” said Hunter. “If you look at the schools that I’ve already visited and the ones that I know the most, I’d say Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland, USC and Florida. Those are the five schools I’ve heard from the most. There are others in there that I still need to visit and get to know better. I’m just going to have to hit some schools soon. Like Notre Dame, I need to visit up there. That’s going to happen. Then I’ll be able to know more about the program. I just need to take a lot more visits.”

“I’d say getting to the football fast and making plays,” said Hunter when asked what he does best. “I can play any position if you ask me to. I can run, catch, throw. I can do a lot of different stuff on the field. I think my motivation to my teammates, my leadership skills and my athleticism is what separates me a little bit. There is still a ton of room for improvement, but I put in the work and try to make others better.”

He's talking like it's almost a done deal, then deflates the balloon when he says "Everyone is the same at this point". lol

I like that he wants to learn, is willing to play any position and help teammates. Maybe the visit will do the trick and put us in the drivers seat.

Per rivals he named this group as schools he needs to do more research on Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia, Oregon, USC, UCLA and Auburn.

Clemson, VT, Bama, and Florida appear to be his top group. Take all 5 OV's and decide late in the process.

Did you purposely or mistakenly leave off OSU? So nice not to see OSU on a list... even if it's just until you edit your post. lol

In an article by Ross Martin on 24/7; he named a top 7.

Virginia Tech; Clemson; Alabama; Auburn; Florida; North Carolina; and Notre Dame. He was at UNC on an unofficial today.

About ND, he stated:
"That is the school that I haven't been to yet, but I want to look into them more. I feel like I can come in and make an impact there instantly cause they need dudes who play my position. That is the school on national TV every week. With a degree there, I can go anywhere I want to in the country - job wise. And I know I can ball out because their schedule is always tough." "I am trying to visit there this summer,"

Also wants to visit Ole Miss and Miss St.

This is very good news. Sounds like he knows that you can't lose with committing to ND. He would be GREAT to have. Let's hope we can get him on campus.

We need to get him on campus and go from there. I know we are at the bottom of that list with Florida, Va Tech and Clemson being the top 3

I'll hold out what little hope that I can. He'd be a great addition to our secondary and would likely vie for minutes immediately.

I wouldn't, he says all the right things to ND guys and does mention that he wants to visit to others. However, he's visited a lot of schools and is very close with VT and UNC for example. I doubt he ends up at ND on 1 visit, JMO though.

The one thing that's intrigued me about Hunter throughout the process is he's stayed a VT lean with UNC seemingly a step in front of everyone else. So often guys with his profile just pick out the usual suspect schools Bama, Clemson, FSU, LSU, etc... and let the natural selection process dictate where they go as the #1 guy settles into slot A, the #2 guy settles into slot B and so on.

If he's comfortable enough to say no to the "Dynasty of the Moment" teams, he might be the same kind of recruit that wants to be really different and give ND a late look, especially during a season where ND should be knocking on the door of the playoffs.

Michigan and Notre Dame, the two places he wants to take his first two official visits.

Idk. It's not like we need safeties or anything. Is he even a take? Wait, can he run a jet sweep in the red zone?
