Dude... Right now, there is the assumption of there being no Targarean males. Again, the reason why ALL people that want to claim the throne are going to have to take it. That's the storyline. Every single person until a Targarean is revealed will be taking it illegitimately. There are no Targareans and no Baratheons. We are watching a world with a supposed lack of actual male bloodline to the throne. Incest be damned.

What happened to Gendry Baratheon? Last we see of him, he's in a boat heading out to sea. He's a bastard child, but still has Baratheon blood, no?

He's not Gendry Baratheon, he's just Gendry. Bastards have three possible names:

First name only - Unacknowledged
Bastard surname (Snow, Sand, Waters, Rivers, etc.) - Acknowledged highborn bastard
Legitimized surname (Bolton, Stark, Baratheon) - Acknowledged and legitimized by proclamation

Gendry is several steps away from having any claim to anything.

FWIW, show-Gendry is a mashup of two different characters in the books, both Baratheon Bastards. Gendry and Edric Storm.

Oh I'm not suggesting he has a claim to anything. I just recall reading he was a Baratheon bastard and wondered if there's more to his story.

Robert had a ton of bastards. Gendry's purpose was to demonstrate the "seed is strong" theory to Ned and reveal that Tommen and Joffrey were illegitimate.

I'm just so glad we can add Legolasesqu Archery skills to Ramsays already extended resume. He's able to hit Rickon at the same distance where 3000 of his archers aren't able to hit Jon.

That was one of the best battle scenes I've ever seen. That episode lived up to the the extremely high hopes I had for it. I'm sure the usual suspects will bitch about stupid stuff like archery (above) or some other dumb shit, but I feel sorry for anyone that can't enjoy an episode like that. I'm still vibing.

One question, so since the dogs took Ramsay, is there no pie for the Freys?

The Freys NEED to go down.

Idk who's in position to deliver justice, though.

No, the pie is Frey eating other Frey.

And other than the occasions corny dialogue, Ramsay has been my only major gripe with the show. Just glad he's finally gone.

For a second I thought they were gonna ruin his death by doing a joker impression and have him laughing off Jons punches. Then I though he may even do a Michael Ney impression and give the order for his own dogs to eat him while sitting in the chair, which actually might have been bad ass.

That shit was off the chain, though.

It's a shame that Rickon got stashed away for the whole series, only to eventually get used as fodder for Ramsay, but that's classic GRRM I guess.

I could watch a full hour of Jon Snow beating the dogshit out of Ramsay.

I could watch a full hour of Sansa smiling as Ramsay gets eaten.

I only worry about Littlefinger being a total douche, now.

No, the moment that epitomizes GRRM the most would be the touching moment where Jons about to touch Wun Wun when he's dieing only for Ramsay to potshot his head.

Yea, I'm hoping Littlefinger doesn't go to deep with his manipulation a and drag out the dram into season 7. I'd hate it if he ruined Sansa's redemption arc like Cersie ruined Jaime's. Would be unlikely but I hope he's dealt with in the finale or at the very least banished from the Starls/Vale presence.

Hate to see Wun Wun pass.
Was hoping Sansa would take a knife to RB's parts before turning the dogs on him.

We're past the book and I feel much less suspense. This shit was all telegraphed. Jon ruins his advantage because Ramsay kills his brother so he basically commits suicide and is saved by his men abandoning their fortified position. Then they are surrounded and of course, Littlefinger and the Vale knights show up to save the day. We knew he wasn't going to die, he was brought back seven episodes ago. It was beautifully shot, I can't complain about that, but I'm butthurt with the suspension of reality. Let me have it for being a baby bitching book reader.

+1.

A+ spectacle, D- storytelling. Absolutely zero suspense or intrigue, and not just in the North. Dany roflstomping the slavers in Meereen was just as telegraphed.

Who becomes the king bad guy, Euron?
The Freys are obviously awful, but Walder could never pull off the hate inciting evil that Joffrey or Ramsey did.
Cersei? Putting a spark to the wild fire under Baelor's? (love how Tyrion mentioned it being under all of King's Landing, but specifically said the Great Sept.

Tyrone little warning about Wildfyre really hints at Cersie burning KL. However, I can't see her doing that and living long after. Also could hint at Dynareaus' impending madness.

Little finger is in a prime position to do some damage. And I think the Freys might be dealt with next episode..

It was a joke... and I wasn't talking to you... Relax weirdo.

Again with the 3rd grade insults; but actually you kinda were, you already called out my "archery" comment.

P.S. For everyone else.

Wooly called Whiskey and I nerds when we started the ASoIaF thread. I believe he was referencing that, because now he's in here, talking about the show, when he called us book nerds like five years ago or whenever that thread was made.

Mgriff and Wiz - What if GRRM planned it like that all along, though?

Would you still be mad at the lack of suspense?

Or is it just the fact that you were watching it in real time?

I could see GRRM taking 4/5 pages to describe Rickon's run through the field, building the suspense... but it's not possible to do that with a show, so I don't know what else you could want haha.

There are consequences to actions in the books. Eddard doesn't play the game, he pays with his life. Robb doesn't honor his commitment, he dies. Now I'm not saying that Arya, Jon, Dany, and Tyrion don't have plot armor, they do. It's Arya walking around all nonchalant, getting stabbed then sprinting around Braavos with an open gut wound after falling in a filthy canal. It's Jon abandoning all reason and losing his head to charge out in the middle of the field, which would have sacrificed his army's chances at winning. No one in Westeros has fucking outriders apparently.

I know I'm getting way to into it. Some of it can be explained away as D&D needing to progress the story and make an interesting show. I get that. It's just there seems to be no consequences anymore. I feel the quality has gone down the farther away from the books they go. I think the best seasons were true to the book. They've done a lot of great on their own as well. Hardhome was awesome. I just feel they are going all out for shock and not paying attention to the details. That's acceptable, the people are loving the show. Just because I'm disappointed does not mean the show is a failure. It's a massive success and a worldwide phenomenon. The people love it, I'm just personally disappointed that it's lost the magic that made me fall in love with the books. I'm still grateful to have it, as GRRM refuses to give us a book.

You're a pretty dense person. Call it whatever you want, because I really don't care. If it makes you feel important to be "called out", then call it that. Whatevs.

I thought you guys had reached epic levels of nerdism... But here I am... with a researched knowledge of over a thousand years of Targarean Kings. lol
