From NDInsider today:

Robinson's future to be revealed next Wednesday.

Kelly said Thursday the school will have an announcement on Wednesday regarding senior wide receiver Corey Robinson’s future with the Irish football team.

Robinson has been pondering whether to walk away from the sport after suffering multiple concussions in his career, including one that wiped out almost all of this past spring’s practices.

Could be reading it wrong, but that sounds like a retirement announcement. Not sure why you would schedule an announcement that a kid is going to keep doing what he has been.

Yeah, if he were to continue, it would be business as usual. It sounds like he is announcing retirement.

I agree. I would think that if he was staying, he would've announced he was staying. The big announcement leads me to think he wants to thoroughly explain his reason for departure and do a class job of thanking the staff and school for his opportunity etc. He's a class guy and I hope my hunch is wrong cause we'd better better with him. Good thing the cupboards are full.

Yeah, I don't see them having an announcement if he was simply staying on the team.

Whatever happens. He's a fine young man with a bright future. The epitome of what a Notre Dame student athlete is supposed to be. I wish him the best.

If he should go, would certainly suck for football. Luckily BK has recruited studs to fill his void. We'll see how it plays out.

Good thing Luatua came back. Gives them the ability to play Alize more at WR with Corey being gone.

Perhaps he is meeting with another specialist at the beginning of the week and will have his answer by Weds., which is why they have scheduled an announcement....

His retirement doesn't change anything the Irish can do. They've got so much redundancy at his position. It's a non-factor on the field.

Agree, I wish him nothing but the best but this has no material impact on W-L's or the offense as a whole. In fact, probably better to get some young guys more reps, as they'll be counted on in the future.

Corey will do great things in life.

Perhaps from an athletic standpoint, but I would think his experience would have been rather beneficial in the locker room and helping coach up the younger guys. As it stands Hunter is now our "grey beard." While he's become a great threat recently, he hasn't been as experienced as a Will Fuller, or a Chris Brown, or a TJ Jones before them. It's always nice having upper classmen leaders out there that can show the younger guys how it's done.

I'm sure he will still have a role on the team. Similar to Danny Spond once he retired.

If he has to give it up because of health issues..then ok. BK has positioned himself nicely.

ESB I've heard/read is pretty good.

I'd love nothing more than to see ESB ball out like a man on fire this year (along with AJ, and TH, CH, CJ, etc..). He needs to be a walking billboard to his bros at home as to why ND is the right place.

I hope so, for the brothers and pure production perception. BK is good at this...I have no worries with our hurlers. We'll run the ball well too, I think.

That Defense...?? Think/hope will be prime to compete for ALL 13 games.

100. That's why I ended my post with "on the field". He'll be around like Spond as someone mentioned.

PLUS it will be one less person Von McKinley will have to pass up for minutes.

Everybody here is guilty of sleeping on him. Irish Illustrated had a poll of its 7 staffers about the Top 10 first year Irish players this year. (RS-Fr & RS So's included)

McKinley got 1 vote... a 3rd place by Steve Hare.

Oh for sure. I think ESB's gotta be the guy opposite Torii every down. But Corey's absence will be felt the most on third downs and in the red zone.

I'm thinking that Alize is gonna end up as the safety blanket in the middle of the field on third down... that leaves a guy like Boykin to get involved in the red zone opposite ESB, with Torii lined up in many different spots.

So, anyone hear anything germane?

Don't know what that means but will run with it.

I do believe a game day count down should be up by now. :) It has to be within 90 days...is Labor Day close?

Anything actually about Robinson, and what he plans to do.

Stand up person, leader within his class...is that what you talk riddles about?

You make this sound like a puzzle. I'm talking about if or not he'll be play football next year.
