A lot of the DBs in this class are flexible enough to play multiple positions. Could be a situation where Elliot is placed at safety or corner back depending on how this class finishes out. It's a DB number count now instead of a safety/corner back count.

I agree with you but I did ask Steve about this because I thought these two in particular were set at different positions and not cross overs

We have DJ Morgan, Donte Vaughn, Spencer Perry already on board, and Studstill very likely. I see no reason at all to take Okeke because he seems too similar to Morgan/Vaughn/Perry, Another SS/Hybrid LB. I'd rather finish off with a FS - Studstill.

But I'm only a doctor on Tinder so what do I know.

Shumate is a senior. Tranquill hasn't played a full season yet. Who else is on the roster that can play that hybrid role? And when ND is playing 2 option teams a year, having a few of these guys is kind of a necessity

I do like the staff's plan of signing about 20 DBs and then figuring out which ones have some instincts. Our biggest depth/production issue right now is safety... and CB is pretty scary too after Russell leaves.

damn your actually right it felt like more then that. John Turner? Yeah Right. Onwualu but he's a upperclassman. Spencer Perry is a similar player but he's only 1 person. Felt like all we've been recurring recently is that hybrid for whatever reason. After seeing Tranquil's ability to move around well and be physical against Ga Tech is easy to see why they like that type of player so much.

To follow up on GB's post, Hamm thinks everybody is A&M's to lose. With that said Ikenna does seem to like the spotlight and maybe this is a Soso kind of recruitment. One where the kid seems to really be focused on one thing but when looking at actions is really focused on something entirely different.

Okeke has already taken an official visit to Notre Dame and has one scheduled for Penn State for later this month and he will also take unofficial visits to Vanderbilt and Tennessee in the coming weeks. Regardless of those plans, he said a decision could be coming soon.

"After this visit I think I know a lot," Okeke said. "I still have other visits to take but as of now I think I'm going to be ready to commit in the next week or two."

FWIW, Steve Hare still isn't convince he was allowed to commit to ND. Multiple times he has commented that he feels Okeke would have committed to ND (assuming its based on his conversations with Ikenna but it was never fully elaborated)
