I think they are still talking about the USC coaching situation.

I get the fact that the announcers don't want to sound like ND homers, but, good grief, Flutie sucks. I am going to start watching the games on mute!! Is he going to be calling the game against BC?

This is what I do now, My wife and I turn it one mute an play some music.

the excitement for the other team by our announcers is unbearable.

I've never gotten too upset about the announcers as I'm usually screaming at the TV. That being said, I hate Flutie. He's the absolute worst.

Honestly, I would rather we play all our games on the road, so we do not have announcers. Oh wait....

ABC/ESPN calls aren't any better.

I always thought that a game experience mode would be pretty popular. Just hear what you'd hear if you were at the stadium. But on your TV

Does anybody listen to Criqui call the game for IMG while watching the NBC broadcast? If so, when you simulcast it, is there a delay? How much?

I don't normally complain about announcers but I absolutely can't stand Hicks and Flutie. I grew up listening to Hall of Famers. They do not cut it.

If only Doc Emrick would move back to Indiana and learn football...

Probably a delay, but if you're watching /w DVR you could always adjust to compensate.

But at least they are not supposed to care if ND wins. Hell, another thing that CBS has on NBC is better announcers. Yet another reason why people watch SEC games, even on the SEC Network.

I miss the days when ND was not on TV nearly every Saturday.

Yeah, I hate when I get to see my favorite team play on television every single week! :krazy:

I watch the games with the ND Clubs but the games are broadcast in LA on 830 AM or I could follow along online, just wanted to know what delays there are if anyone else has tried it..

We used to listen to Butkus call the Bears on AM back in the 80's - 90's while watching TV. Obviously better than whoever CBS would put on the game from week to week.

Maybe IE's group hysteria has finally taken its toll on me but I'm at wits end with these two. I can't tell if I'm listening to an ND game or a bad knockoff of the Kraken at the golf course commercial.

Can you tell that your favorite team is on? Me neither.

At least, when CBS was basically the only game in town--other than SEC games on Jefferson Pilot--you knew the game was important and the announcers were not going to be complete dbags like Flutie, Hammond, Haden or anyone not named Criqui.

Give me the CBS CFA broadcasts any day of the week compared to the idiots on the air now.

I'm ok with Hicks...would probably like him if not for Flutie.

I tried Mute...but I love the crowd noise.

Trying to develop an ap that just mutes a person...:) Calling it ace22.

Seriously, if NBC wanted feedback, put these guys on their own audio channel, and allow viewers to tune them out. Watch the numbers...Flutie would set records for mute.

My wife thinks it's funny that I say, "Oh, shut up Flutie" every few minutes while watching. This was the first game I muted a significant portion and I enjoyed it much more.

I said something similar the other night and my wife asked what I was complaining about and I said "Nothing the color guy just really sucks". She gave me a weird look because she thought I was being racist.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying. Are you saying you miss the times that the announcers weren't garbage or that you literally miss the time when ND wasn't on TV every week? Because the latter is pure insanity.

The NBC announcers are garbage, and listening to them 6x a season is just atrocious.

The CBS teams of the 80s were soooo much better. Hell, the SEC broadcast teams are leagues better than what NBC puts out. You would think that ND would have the pick of the best TV announcers when they made their deal with NBC, and what we get for the majority of their connection to ND is trashy announcers who openly root against ND every single broadcast, have a halftime entirely devoted to NFL and golf, instead of the actual game, then more fellating of the Irish opponent for another two hours.

So, no it is not pure insanity to say that, because at least I was not being FORCED to listen to pure trash every single Saturday on NBC for the last 20+ years. And you knew that you were getting the best CBS and/or ABC had to offer. Hell, ND was on TV tons growing up anyway. I would rather have great announcers for special ND games that mattered, period.

I miss ND on CBS... indeed.

I have another gripe with NBC - crowd noise. After you watch a game on CBS or ESPN, flipping on Notre Dame is like watching a game taking place in a church. They don't capture atmosphere, at all. In fact it seems like they intentionally avoid it. Frankly, it sucks. I like when you can barely hear the announcers because it is a big 3rd down in the fourth quarter. It makes all of the other stadiums seem so much louder, but generally they aren't - they are just mic'd up.

NBC missed out, years ago, when they didn't scoop up Todd Blackledge(back when Blackledge was being wasted by CBS in the studio for very short halftime reports). I'm biased, as Blackledge and my brother were High School teammates, but he has really matured into a very good football announcer.

How I miss days like this.

CBS knows how to broadcast big games, and they always have.

I couldn't handle it after the first few games, so I linked up the radio broadcast with the game and it has been awesome.

I just always figured it was because NDs atmosphere sucks in comparison to other venues... so the stadium gets really loud and ruckus, but NBC doesn't capture it????

I was at the Michigan game last year when we got that pick 6 to go up 37-0 and the stadium was so loud. I had recorded the game and watched it back a couple days later and couldn't believe how the broadcast had not picked up the intensity of that moment.

There isn't any delay??

I just pause the television broadcast for a few minutes on the dvr and get it so the two broadcasts are in sync. Usually making sure the TV is slightly ahead of the radio broadcast. It works pretty well.

Exactly right. You can usually hear the band well, so they mic the band, but they probably don't use any mics to capture crowd noise.

If I could have it my way, I would choose to bring Mayock back and pair him Brady Quinn. Then I would bring Flannigan back on the sideline. I like Ward and Vilma in the studio though, and I would leave that alone.
