What video game are you playing?

I buy the discs, just because I'll always have the actual game at my disposal.

If you download an entire game digitally, and then something gets screwy and you lose it somehow, you have to jump through some hoops to get it back. With a disc, you don't have to do that lol.

I will say that all the games I've bought on XB1, even with the disc, have had some decent-sized downloads/installations/updates to go through before playing, so sometimes I feel like I should have just bought the digital copy. But my internet is also garbage, so maybe that's an issue. It would probably take my XB1 4+ days to download an entire game. When I bought GTAV, it took 1.5 days just to do the necessary installs for the disc-version.

The install time is definitely my least favorite thing about Xbox One. Took nearly 2 hours to install Madden, then had to play through a non-skippable cut scene and tutorial. I didn't get to play the actual game until the next day.

I'd happily play with less facial details if I can have those 2 hours back. Or maybe ask what we want to physically download. If we have to download and install, why the need for the disc? Just mark that my account owns the game. Why are we still switching out discs in 2015?

Does XOne have a feature where you can download games while the system is 'off'?? With the PS4 you can Dload games and content while the system is in rest mode (a mode where the system's wifi still works and basic components are still on but using very little power and is more off than on)... once the downloads are finished the system auto powers off the few components that were still running to be able to dload the game... it's pretty sweet as I just set to dload a game before bed and wake up the next morning and it's good to go.

Also on the One when you download a game it is on your hard drive so no need for Internet connection or having to rely on servers of any type.

PS4 has the same ability, but my point is that at some point in the distant future, Sony will have moved onto newer consoles, PS16, whatever. It's inevitable that servers get shut down over time, so unless you already have a game saved to your hard drive (And hopefully your hard drive doesn't crap out) you will no longer be able to reinstall some of your old games. This is true for both X-Box and Playstation. Obviously for PS4/One games that day will be far into the future, but if you're like me you like to revisit old games from time to time.

For that reason, that's why I always suggest getting game discs when possible.

Yeah you can download while XB1 is sleeping or whatever. But it doesn't improve load time. This is what I did with GTAV, and it still took several days just to do the from-disc install.

I have my XB1 set to be a full shut-down and start-up every time I play, just to save on the energy bill. The default is for it to go to sleep and be *off*, but certain systems will remain on/operate even when it's powered off. I don't like the idea of my XB1 running some update and my shitty internet straining the system, and then my XB1 catches on fire while I sleep when I thought it was "off"... therefore I keep it on the full shutdown/startup mode.

The only drawback is that it takes 2 mins longer to start when I turn it on, and I can't yell "XBOX ON" at it to turn it on. The plus side is that Jesse Pinkman can't turn on my XB1 when his commercial comes on, and I am less paranoid about a random electrical fire.

It is very nice haha. My little brother got an XB1 shortly after I did. He got the Assassin's Creed bundle that came with Unity and Black Flag for free. He had played Black Flag before and said he hated it, so he gave me the download code.

We're quickly becoming a society that doesn't need to move an inch to get things done, it's no wonder obesity is on the rise:
Bills have gone paperless, you don't need to go to your mailbox quite as often (If at all really, other than to throw out spam). You don't even need to mail the bill in or drop it off anywhere, you can pay that online too.
Phones are all mobile, you don't have to get up to answer the phone.
Shopping can be all done online, even for groceries in some parts, and they can be delivered.
Need a loan? Don't need to go to a bank anymore, you can get quotes online.
Don't need to change discs to switch a game.

Playing the 2013 edition of Tomb Raider right now. Steam has a sale on all Tomb Raider games, the newest one is only $3.79. Older ones are under $2, not a bad deal. I honestly have never played any of them other than the first two back in the day, this new one is excellent though. Great game for October, as it's a bit creepy, especially in the beginning. Sale ends tomorrow at 1pm est I think.

Pretty sure the first Tomb Raider is available for free on Games with Gold for XB1 right now, as well. I think until the middle of the month, before the new one drops.

I haven't researched it yet, but I like all trearch (spelling, I know) games they've put out for COD. I'm really hoping it can be the next best Zombie mode to the original Black Ops.
