I mean I get it.

Skov was gonna hurt whoever got in his way.

Honestly the dude is a bulldozer.

But if you have the swagga you gotta attempt to stick him.

It wasn't on Skov, it was a downfield run where their running back got past the first wave

I agree with you BFAM!

But too bad Jaylon wasn't in the way!

Or even Martini after his step forward in play this past weekend!

I am thinking the linebacker corps, with the way they played now brings the brolic, to back the swag!

I just got done watching the game because I missed it Saturday. Definitely noticed he didn't go after Skov on that 2nd last TD. I wouldn't put it against him though. The game was practically over (at the time we thought) and that TD really didn't matter much. No reason to suffer a dislocated shoulder with 30 secs left.

In truth, all said, I am glad we didn't get a last second, season ending injury to bookend Tranquill's at the end of the first half! I wonder if that was the smart play, and recognized by the player or a coach, or just a snap decision?

I was at the game and remember that play. I was yelling for him to turn around. It was on the 48 yard run by Searcy I believe.

This from KVR, per 247.

“For me, it’s keep cleaning up everything, I think probably off-man, because they’re not throwing my way when I’m pressed,” Russell said. “That’s what I always work on. But when I’m off, I’ve been too fast, and even in our zone coverages I’ve been too fast. So I think that’s why the little 10-yard curls and stuff like that has been caught on me, it’s just being too fast. I’ve just got to go back to just confidently being dominant and everything on all aspects.

“When I’m pressed, you guys see, I’m not really looking over there when I’m pressed. I’ll take you off the game pressed. But off, and that’s why I think teams are starting to bunch up, so I can’t press. I think I’m not as rusty as a lot of people thought I would be. I think I’m playing OK, but I got so much more great football ahead of me and every day’s just getting better.”

Quick question, can KVR come back next season? Had this discussion in chat, it's my understanding that you have 5 years to play 4 and since he didn't play last year he could come back for a 5th. Someone else said because he was punished last year he's not eligible. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure he can, and he should, for my health lol.

By NCAA yes, by ND, maybe.

That's an interesting question. Normally, according to University guidelines, a player must have graduated on time (in 4 years) and be accepted to a Graduate program at ND, in order for the University to even consider petitioning the NCAA for a 5th year for him. KVR not only missed a year of football, he missed a year of school. So I find it hard to believe that he will be able to fulfill the requirement of graduating on time. I suppose the University could consider his suspension term not to count against the on time requirement. But I think that would be unlikely, since the missed time was due to academic misbehavior.

Russell took classes at the University of Washington, and was in the process of getting them transferred over for his degree at Notre Dame. Dont know for sure if that process is complete..

Interesting, how did Golson pull it off? Was he suspended less time? I've already forgotten the timeline.

Something tells me KVR already had his ticket to the NFL punched before the season ever started. And who could blame him at the time? All projections were sky-high. But now, if he continues to play at this level and ND doesn't offer him a 5th year based on academic prereqs...yikes.

Agreed! If given the opportunity, he needs to come back. I really thought that he would be a complete "shut down" corner after knocking the rust off after a game or two. He's far from what I had expected of him this year thus far.

If he wants to be a day 1 or 2 selection he has to come back and improve next year

I'm not sure. He obviously graduated in 3 years(of schoolwork) though. Otherwise, he would not have been able to transfer and play right away, at FSU.

I think, generally, the football players take classes in the summers too. So he would have had 3 extra summer sessions to accumulate credits.

I wish he'd stop talking and start playing. It's exhausting listening to how good these player are when they don't actually produce it. Kelly loves the hype machine and so do his players

I honestly don't think he has been as bad as some of your think. More of just disappointment since everyone thought he would be some kind sure fire lock down corner that takes away half the field. I think he will still be a high draft pick because he will kill it at the combine with his measurables.

I've seen several plays this year where Keivarae has been blasted on IE which my eye said that the breakdown was elsewhere [usually a safety] or the pass was perfect. I'm not sure his film is going to look bad at all to NFL scouts [nor Luke's].

Russel is a fast guy...yet he is chronically late getting on deep routes, and he is also slow coming up on outs. I don't know if he is nursing a hip/ankle/knee injury, but it is OBVIOUS he is struggling...

Neither corner is playing loose and fast...no one in the secondary seems to be reacting to the ball well. I see athletes back there, but I don't see guys getting results.

Every time I see measurables with spotty execution...that tells me guys are not totally comfortable with whats going on...

I have also seen KVR get beat all by himself on several occasions. Kid is a tremendous talent but he hasn't played to the level he should be playing at. Maybe he has a nagging injury or something slowing him down so I don't want to be too critical. But his coverage this year hasn't been any better than slightly above average at best.

This is categorically not true. Sorry but he's been beat in man coverage a lot. Now I will say, I think it's ridiculous that he has played some off man coverage, which is not his strong suit. However, he's not playing well at all. He turned up bitch on multiple tackles last night, which has been par for the course this year. He still might be a high round draft pick but isnt at the benefit of the team

Same goes for Redfield, I wish he'd hit somebody or just make a tackle when it's layed out for him.

Redfield led the team with 14 tackles.

Number of tackles is the most misleading stat. It doesn't take into account missed tackles and where they occurred. How about missed assignments that lead to big plays?

This on me too so keep that I mind, I literally thought Redfield was going to be the best S of this decade. And I look like a fool. Not only is he not at that level, he's been the worst of the Kelly era

Can't agree with you more. Mo Crum always had a large number of tackles but unfortunately they all seemed to occur 5-15 yards downfield. The same seems to apply to Schmidt. Very few of his tackles are at or behind the line of scrimmage.

Lol the worst safety of the Kelly era. I don't know about that. You got to throw Farley in there.
