Seriously. Fournette is one of the best tailbacks we've seen in ever.

Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Bo Jackson, OJ Simpson, Eddie George, Barry Sanders, Charles White, Herschel Walker, Mike Rosier, Tony Dorsett, Rashaan Salaam, Archie Griffin, Gaule Sayers, etc., were some of the best running backs I have seen. That ain't quite Leonard.

I got Prosise as a mid-round pick this year. Very limited experience as a RB and has run against suspect D's thus far. Need more and need it against better competition.

I have him as staying through next year. Just a feeling.

#5 on this list.

The skinny: Prosise was not supposed to be Notre Dame's main running back, but after Greg Bryant left and Tarean Folston was injured, Prosise took over and has done a phenomenal job, shooting up the Heisman list. In a 62-27 win over UMass, Prosise rushed 15 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns. For the season, he has 600 yards and six scores on 74 carries, but will be tested this week by a staunch Clemson front. Farrell's take: "He's the biggest surprise heading into the season on this list. He's a natural athlete who has transitioned amazingly to the running back position with little to no experience." - See more at: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1808469&PT=4&PR=2#sthash.vS4rv7h4.dpuf

Anyone who knows me or reads my stuff knows that I am not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. And Notre Dame running back CJ Prosise, a three-star safety out of high school, certainly didn't show me a Heisman candidate's potential as a prospect.

Don't get me wrong. Prosise showed good athleticism at the time and put up gaudy numbers against less-than-stellar competition. He was a dangerous return man, played some quarterback/running back as well as wide receiver and defensive back and was a two-time Prep League MVP. But the question remained -- what position would he excel at? He wasn't a natural on offense as, despite the numbers, he fought the ball at times and didn't have great body control. On defense, he showed good ball skills, but was a safety with a linebacker frame who wasn't the most physical tackler. He had some nice offers but few elite offers with Notre Dame being one of his best. Many coaches, college especially, questioned his ability to transition to college and be more than just a role player.

Yet, after a bit role in 2013 and an okay season last year, we're now looking at a guy with more rushing yards than Nick Chubb at Georgia, a better yards-per-carry average than Derrick Henry and more touchdowns than Ezekiel Elliott in his first year at the position? You can say you saw this coming and that you knew Prosise was a special athlete and great player if you want, but I certainly didn't see it coming at all. Which is what makes it all the more fun to watch. - See more at: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1809304#sthash.jiFmL9QW.dpuf

This is total, revisionist bullshit by "Coach D" then. There is literally a thread somewhere on ISD from years ago when Prosise was being recruited where I questioned his low ranking of Prosise on the safety board relative to Jarrod Wilson (Michigan commit) and Coach D wrote many sentences to how I was wrong and Prosise wasn't that good. He also ranked Barratti over him.

I remember this clearly, but it's the last time I ever asked Coach D a question, because he was such a dismissive asshole.

EDIT: looking it up, to his credit, in his evaluation he was kind to Prosise. Like every player (Coach D literally never said a single ND commit was "bad") he had goo things to say, and said that Prosise had "upside" and "raw" and could be developed into a playmaker. He said that he grades out as a 3-star but has 4-star athleticism so he rated him as a 4-star just ahead of Turner.

I'm no longer a rivals member, but I think you might have this one backwards. Are you sure you read that? Because I actually think he either tweeted or posted about 2 months ago how he was wrong about CJ and pointed out that he didn't think much of him coming in.

ive been scrambling to find the podcast in question where I think he said this. i am pretty sure he was pro-CJ because, did you know Coach D coached in Virginia? (he rarely mentions this, lol)

I love the production Prosise has given us but there is no way he's the 5th best RB in the draft this year. Next year, he could very easily be in the top 5 but he hasn't proven he can handle the volume for a full year. He has shown he can be a quick study.

Let's hope we get him for one more.

I think he is. It's his first year playing which the NFL will love since they love raw potential more than anything else. I can't think of 5 upperclassmen RBs who I would take over him.

I disagree. There are obviously going to be some reaches but the NBA and the NFL are two completely different drafts. NBA is raw potential and the NFL is proven potential. You are very rarely seeing guys drafted "high" in the NFL when they have very little production. On the other hand its a very regular occurrence in the NBA.

Prosise has proven production, just not for a very long period of time. It's not like he's a workout warrior that has never shown anything on the field. I don't see him getting taken before the 3rd round, but that's very rare for running backs these days anyway.

I agree that was kind of my point. Raw potential is for the NBA. Drafting a 7' Eurpoean who's never played this style of game before because he's, well, 7' tall. This is scarily similar to the conversation we had about Davaris Daniels where the consensus was his college production didn't matter. How'd that turnout? Also, he's running in a scheme that is completely different from that of whatever NFL team drafts him.

CJ has 922 rushing yards after USC. The all-time ND single season record is 1437 by Vegas Ferguson in 1979. 6 games left. You do the math. Ok, I'll do it. He has to average about 86yds per game to break it including a bowl game.

And if the coaching staff keeps self-correcting their play calling it could go even higher!

For the first time today Kelly talked about running the offense through Prosise's play.

And giving opponents the choice of double coverage deep, to stop Fuller, or brining a man up to stop CJ. And they almost called the plays that way, most of the game!

922 yards and 11 TDs. If he keeps pace, he could break both the rushing yardage and TD marks for a single season.
