Stannis says there are no defenses yet. He tells this to Theon in one of Reek's chapters. Basically he has the blizzard and a beacon fire at the top of the tower in the crofter's village. The lake was fished dry and there are holes all over it like Swiss cheese. The Manderly's are with the Frey's, who have an imbecile for a commander.

The Night Lamp theory basically says the fire will draw the Frey's over the frozen lake, where their heavy horse will break the ice, causing countless to drown, and those who flee will meet hostile Manderly forces. So he should win the Battle of Ice and live up to his "greatest commander in Westeros" title. The siege of Winterfell is virtually unknown except for the show.

That's it for the Night Lamp theory, but Stannis' forces could assume recovered garb to enter Winterfell, like in Braveheart, and open the gates to other forces. Then you have Lady Dustin, among others, inside who we really don't know much about. It's a very convoluted situation in Winterfell. Stannis could also try to lay siege to Winterfell and die like in the show. We don't really know much but it seems he will win the battle in the blizzard.

I saw an article recently about Kit Harrington *kind of* blowing it in an interview.

He was asked about his future career plans and how he can get away from the long-haired-warrior type of role, and he mentioned that he knows how long he's under contract for, and that he'll be in his 30's when he's done. He's in his late 20's now, so it is reasonable to believe that he's going to be around for the final two/three/four years for the show.

Not that we didn't already know that Jon Targaryen will rise anyway.

GRRM's editor hasn't been active on Twitter since September 1st. Looks like she was active daily prior to that. Not exactly convincing evidence but I'm biting.

https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/3m0aql/no_spoilers_anne_groell_grrms_editor_hasnt/

More circumstantial evidence pointing toward the same conclusion: there was a recent post in /r/asoiaf by someone who works in a major book store chain. For years, the release date for TWoW in their system has been some generic date in 2016, but that date has recently been removed (and not replaced). Get HYPE!

Hypothetical:

Release Date announced as the same day as the National Championship (a Monday).

Notre Dame is in the National Championship game.

How many days are we allowed to take off work?

Tuesday December 22, 2015 is the first day of winter. That would be a great release date. Hype train has left the station.

Is that an old picture? Looks like snow on the ground (pun not intended). Quick check of the weather looks like 50s and 60s in the Northern Ireland capital...

Here's a wider view.

GRRM said that there will be a movie, but it will be after the tv series ends, and that he won't be involved.

Sounds like it will be a prequel.

Game of Thrones movie in the works, according to George RR Martin | News | Culture | The Independent

The Big Man says no.

Bummer: grrm

And here is some info from the ToJ scene that was filming yesterday. There's video of it, so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't click the link.

The Tower of Joy filming has begun: here come the photos and spoilers! | Watchers on the Wall | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary

The second video at the link seems to have the conclusion. Doesn't look like any frog was thrown, or any magic used of the Sword of the Morning.

Ian McShane Will Likely Resurrect Game of Thrones Fan Favorite

While discussing his mysterious Game of Thrones role, Ian McShane basically confirmed a fan favorite character will be returning from the dead this season.

"I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you're never going to see again. I'll leave it at that," he told Pop Goes the News.

McShane will only appear in one episode of Season 6, but it's been previously reported that his character holds "key importance." There's long been speculation that McShane is taking on the role described in a casting call as a gruff ex-soldier who has become a rural priest ministering to the poor. This could easily be the show's version of A Feast for Crows' Septon Meribald, most likely with little Elder Brother mixed in. If this is true, it stands to reason that the character McShane discusses bringing back is none other than the Hound (Rory McCann), whom Arya left for dead in Season 4.

Game of Thrones will reportedly include major Jaime storyline from the books

In the books, Brienne meets the Elder Brother on the Quiet Isle who claims that the Hound is dead and that he buried the body himself. However, the gravedigger in that scene is large man whose face is covered by a scarf and bears similar injuries to the Hound.

While McShane's words may be nothing more than wind, it is looking more and more likely that both the Hound and Jon Snow will be back from the dead next year.

Ah, he's the Meribald. Reading comprehension fail.

Yea it's been suspected that he'd be playing an Elder Brother/Meribald hybrid since they confirmed Tarly. And if that's his storyline, he has to be bringing back the Hound. My heart jumped for LSH when I saw the title on WotW, but that's just never going to be.

Apparently GRRM snuck a reference to Belichik into ADwD:

In an interview, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin called the Patriots the "Lannisters" of the NFL. And in a blog post dated March 15, 2013, Martin wrote,

"What a vile thing is Evil Little Bill. ... Man has absolutely no loyalty to anyone. Watch and see, when Tom Brady's talents start to fade -- and they will, it happens to all of them -- Evil Little Bill will ship him out as well."

The A Song of Ice and Fire novel A Dance with Dragons contains a passage referencing Belichick:

"The galley was also where the ship's books were kept... the fourth and final volume of The Life of the Triarch Belicho, a famous Volantene patriot whose unbroken succession of conquests and triumphs ended rather abruptly when he was eaten by giants."

Referring to the New England Patriots' 2007 season, in which the Patriots went undefeated until losing in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.
And I'm a Broncos fan if anyone cares...

So, Bran wargs into Jon Snow's nearly-lifeless body to keep him from dying?

Plausible?
