I read this on WNDU and wasn't even surprised. Blue hairs alive and well at Notre Dame.
One or two parking tickets are likely not the case. But even if it is say, 100...
Who cares?
Protect Kizer, park where ya want.
I know it's not a big deal, but if we're talking several tickets, how hard is it to park where your supposed to and not get tickets? that's a pretty easy task to handle. Perhaps there were many and they were unpaid. I'm glad it was something so minor, as this just seems to be a case of needing to take a little responsibility. I would hope it isn't something along the lines of "I'm an ND football player and I can park wherever I want". That would reflect more poorly on Ronnie and I could see that not being a desired image for a captain.
When you are a top of the first round NFL talent protecting the Notre Dame QB's... I say let the big fella park wherever he wants.
Hell... he can park in my driveway if he wants. I'll move my truck right now...
I understand, as fans, I get that. But having a sense of entitlement as if certain rules only applied to everyone else and not yourself is just a poor attitude to have, and shouldn't be enabled IMO.

If he isn't captain because of 2 parking tickets then I should be in federal prison.
Do you think all of the other students pay their tickets? I don't think it was Stanley thinking he was entitled to better treatment (which by the way... he should be), but rather he just disregarded the tickets because they're stupid.
My buddy's girlfriend in college parked in front of our house every night (she is also, to this day, one of my best friends. So we didn't mind her being around) her last semester of school. She knew she was moving to Texas after graduation, so she said "to hell with these tickets". She know gives the school around $10k a year in donations. That doesn't sound like entitlement to me...
It can be really fucking hard. I got 10+ tickets because I parked my car where I thought there was a spot (there was snow on the ground, impossible to see lines and I parked in line with other cars) and I was off by one. Woups. Left my car in the lot for about 2 weeks before I needed to use it again, came back to find oodles and oodles of tickets. I ended up paying a reduced fine when all was said and done because I argued that it was their responsibility to make parking markings visible/accurate and threatened to get a lawyer... we settled on me paying the equivalent of two tickets if I remember correctly.
My senior year I had the opposite problem. I got 3 or 4 tickets for parking in different "visitor" lots where I wasn't allowed to park at XYZ time because I had a pass for a different lot. In short, you can only park in the "open" lot if you have no pass at all, something that was not made clear to me. I got 2 tickets in a 24 hour period, and then later my friend got one making the same mistake borrowing my car to move stuff... and I think I got one or two more.

I'm happy to pay a few tix for the big fella. If a ton, happy to lead a fund raising event...
He is entitled,,,, to be a captain.
This is a great idea... if we're brainstorming ways to get our wins vacated this season.
I would guess that if the tickets were received from ND police, that they would be paid, as I would speculate that the school might hold something like that over a students head before allowing a diploma to be released. It may seem a little petty, but as we all know, ND is different from a lot of other schools.
To your example of your buddy's girlfriend, that example is to me the very definition of entitlement - "I was entitled to park here and not pay the tickets because I have done something in return for the school, so it shouldn't matter what I did". That may very well be what ends up being the outcome from her situation, but it also could've affected other people in some way that she was unaware of. Maybe a person was injured and would've been better served to have that spot but couldn't, who knows. Ultimately, if simply doing the right thing is not a priority for oneself, then you're right.
I went to community college before transferring to University. I had 10 or 12 parking tickets and they wouldn't transfer my credits until I paid them.
I ended up talking to someone and got a reduced fine, but still.
I'm of the mind that if he's just flouting the rules and saying "screw you," it's kind of a deal. They might have tried to work with him before it became public, but I don't like the idea of entitled football players. Especially at Notre Dame.
