ND's been talking to him at some level for a while. He started following Sanford and Loy back in June.

Lot of things hit Twitter regarding McCaffrey since Hunter became Johnny Knoxville.

His family members tend to go to Stanford or Duke but there have been Vandy, Georgetown and UVa members too. Mom Dad and brother Christian are all Trees. Oldest brother is at Duke. I'd say it's a given that he will go to an elite academic school.

Good news for ND is he will have to follow KJ Costello a class behind at Stanford who will probably redshirt if he doesn't win the starters job next fall. He's the last guy I'd want to be a freshman with in that offensive system.

Surprised he hasn't been offered yet.

Can't believe I'm saying this considering the kid is just starting his jr year, but if we want to get involved sooner rather than later is probably better

it was said on 247 or rivals we won't rush to make an offer to a 2017 qb...we will be evaluating however he would near the top right now...i posted the info i believe in hunter's thread

"That would be amazing," said McCaffrey regarding an offer from Notre Dame. "It's hard not to highly consider a program and school like Notre Dame. It would definitely make me very interested."

sanford contacted him after midnight last night

Does his Dad's ties to Stanford help us? Rule us out? Thanks for any thoughts.

Helps in my opinion, Stanford isn't recruiting him and its obvious that his family values top notch educational institutes like Duke and Stanford so that is a great selling point for us that we offer elite academics and great football

From the sounds of the recruiting sites, they don't have much confidence here. Why is Stanford not recruiting him?

Stanford offered another 2017 QB that most believe will sign with them so I guess they had him higher on the board than Dylan... If we engage in this recruitment it appears it will be a battle with Michigan, who has already offered

Not a cool bump but

McCaffrey was impressive in operating the option read in the game we attended earlier this season, tucking the ball when he could and making plays with his feet, but he struggled a bit throwing down field. He certainly has the athleticism and awareness that makes him a terrific game manager at this stage in his development, but he should probably be lower in the rankings until he proves he can be a top-flight passer. McCaffrey, who has brothers at Duke and Stanford, told Rivals.com he is planning visits to Michigan and UCLA in the coming weeks. -

The only family of athletes that can say they got their speed from Mom even though Dad was an NFL WR.

RIP Dr. Sime.

Very interesting read from the NYT:

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/01/1...-79.html?_r=1&referer=https://www.google.com/

He played one year of football at Duke as a lonesome end, lining up 15 yards from the nearest teammate. His first game was against Notre Dame, and on the first play of Duke’s first possession, he caught a touchdown pass. On the first play of Duke’s next possession, he caught another touchdown pass. The Detroit Lions drafted him, but that season was his last in football.

You guys realize he didn't have a Stanford offer and his other brother is at Duke. I think he will be okay. Rather have him at Michigan then Stanford

First public school education in the family since they arrived on these shores.

At least he is going to an elite public school. Plus he gets to learn under Jim Harbaugh. who isn't taking that, he took Kaep to a damn Super Bowl

Harbaugh's bigger miracle to me was fixing Alex Smith and riding him to an NFC title game. I think people forget just how much of a god awful shit-stain Alex Smith really was when Harbaugh took over the 49ers. Harbaugh turned Smith's entire career around. Smith was complete ASS, it was looking like he was going to go down as one of the bigger #1 overall busts in NFL draft history, and he rebounded that and has become a mediocre NFL starting QB. It's astonishing.

Kaep at least has an insane amount of talent and ability. The size, the frame, great speed, strength, and a rocket for an arm. Dude is a specimen. Smith is about as mediocre of a talent as they come, but one thing he does have is pretty decent running ability though, I'll give him that. His running ability still ain't Kaep though.
