The Cotton Bowl wasn't a BCS game and they got beat by UCF of all teams in the Fiesta, they're only BCS game ever. When you say "show up to big games" did you mean that they literally just got off of the bus? If that's the case, we were in the title game three years ago.

I'm not even saying that the last couple years they didn't have a better team, but they certainly don't have a better PROGRAM (see, I can capitalize too) right now. Not to mention, all the reasoning you have given about them "showing up to big games" is complete horse$hit, as their last 5 big games they are 2-3 in...

They played in the Cotton Bowl last year vs. MSU. The Cotton Bowl is a NY6 bowl game. Please come at me with facts. Easy google search shows the Cotton Bowl is a major bowl /NY6.

So? It wasn't a BCS game before the playoffs and it wasn't a playoff game.... AND THEY LOST...

LOL I'll bet anything that Baylor will be better than ND this yr. Drunk posting? HAHAHA

Haha, seriously now you're just proving my point. You previously said that Baylor had a better program and then you just agreed with Lion who said they have better recent success but not a better program. You're are truly on fire today.

The Cotton Bowl is only important as a NY6 bowl when there are playoff implications attached to it. The game last year was no more prestigious than it was the previous 30 years.

...and as wooly mentioned: THEY LOST.

No more prestigious? LOL ok. I'm done here.. going back and forth the internet people who refuse to except facts. I'll come back and say hi when ND plays in some lower tier bowl again.

Last year it was but I'm sure u enjoyed that Music City bowl ND played in.

I'm not trying to use the Music City Bowl as evidence of our program being better than anyone.

Go take a nap or something.

It's interesting how you give Baylor the benefit of the doubt for appearing in (and subsequently losing) prestigious bowl games, but refuse to do the same for ND, who appeared in a freaking national title game a few seasons ago.

Is this guy better than Damian Alloway? I guess the staff only would take one of them since they are both the same type of player (all purpose back).

Baylor is a better team right now but they never were, are or will be a better, stronger football program.

BTW, i do not agree, but Pro Football Focus has released their top 50 players in College Football and they have four players from Baylor and zero from ND:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/08/21/college-footballs-top-50-players/

I think that Austin Collinsworth is working with them

Oh boy, I am going to lose sleep over the opinion of fvckin Pro Football Focus.

=Oberon;1576554]Might be a good time to start looking around:

Silence at Baylor - Texas Monthly

Things are about to get ugly. Briles has denied having any knowledge about the violent past of DE Sam Ukwuachu but Chris Petersen has another version of the story:

Former Boise State coach Chris Petersen told ESPN on Friday that he informed Baylor coach Art Briles about former Broncos defensive end Sam Ukwuachu's violent past before the player transferred to play for the Bears in 2013.

In a statement first given to ESPN.com, Petersen said he initiated a telephone call with Briles after Ukwuachu was dismissed from Boise State's team. Petersen was the Broncos' coach from 2006 to 2013 and is about to begin his second season at Washington.

"After Sam Ukwuachu was dismissed from the Boise State football program and expressed an interest in transferring to Baylor, I initiated a call with coach Art Briles," Petersen said in the statement. "In that conversation, I thoroughly apprised Coach Briles of the circumstances surrounding Sam's disciplinary record and dismissal."

On Thursday, Ukwuachu was found guilty of sexually assaulting a then-Baylor soccer player in October 2013. He was awaiting sentencing by the jury at the 54th State District Court in Waco, Texas, on Friday. Ukwuachu is seeking probation and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Petersen's statement contradicts what Briles told reporters in Waco, Texas, on Friday morning. Briles said he spoke with Petersen personally but was not informed of any past violent incident before accepting Ukwuachu's transfer to Baylor in 2013.

"No mention of anything beyond Sam being depressed and needing to come home," Briles said. "So that was our information. And that's what you go by."

When asked specifically whether Boise State had informed Baylor of Ukwuachu's disciplinary record, Briles was emphatic in his denial.

"No. No. That's not true," Briles said. "Lord, no. No, there's no truth. Find out who informed us and talk to them, please."

Neither Briles nor Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw could be reached immediately to respond to Petersen's comments later Friday.

Boise State's decision to deny a waiver that would've allowed Ukwuachu to play in 2013 was not a red flag, Briles said, because schools rarely grant permission for immediate eligibility during typical transfer processes. He was ineligible to play for Baylor in the fall of 2013 due to NCAA transfer rules and suspended for the 2014 season.

The woman, who has since transferred, testified that Ukwuachu assaulted her at his apartment and that she yelled "no" and screamed during the assault, according to reports. She also testified that Ukwuachu told her "This is not rape," and asked her whether she was going to call the police.

Briles called Ukwuachu's conviction "unfortunate for everybody concerned," and he reiterated that the defensive end had been taken off the roster before he ever played or practiced with the team.

"Our timeline was followed by what the standards were here," Briles said. "When the incident happened, he's off the roster. Never played a down for us. So it's a very unfortunate situation for all concerned. That's all I've got to say about it."

During the trial, a former girlfriend at Boise State testified that Ukwuachu punched her in the head several times, choked her, physically restrained her from leaving and had a reputation for having a violent temper.

Ukwuachu, who was dismissed from Boise State in May 2013 for an unspecified violation of team rules, denied those allegations.

Baylor investigated the sexual assault but determined there was not enough evidence to proceed and was going to allow Ukwuachu to play before the district attorney indicted him, according to the Waco Tribune. The school also was prepared to let Ukwuachu return to the team if he had been found not guilty, his attorney told the Tribune before the trial.

Briles, who spoke with reporters for four minutes before practice Friday morning, said he had no involvement in Baylor's investigation into the matter.

Art Briles is like a younger Nick Saban. Both of them are believe in the redemptive power of football.

If only ND could grasp the meaning of true Christian forgiveness, it too good re-ascend to greatness.
Art:
Chris Petersen says he told Baylor Bears coach Art Briles about Sam Ukwuachu's violent past

Nick:
DT Jonathan Taylor 'worthy of a second chance,' says Alabama AD | AL.com

(Just kidding, we all know that ND is having a harder time winning these days because their coaches are lazy!)

Not much younger, Briles is about to turn 60 years.

When I saw on the front page that this thread had more than tripled its post count since this morning, I got really excited and thought Martin may have flipped out of no where. I was obviously wrong.

Art Briles played a role in Auburn landing ex-Baylor signee

Art Briles may be out as Baylor’s head football coach, but he still has some influence over at least one member of his last recruiting class.

Over the weekend, Kam Martin announced via Twitter that he had committed to play his college football for Gus Malzahn at Auburn. The running back chose Auburn over another contender in TCU.

Malzahn and Briles are good friends who, prior to Briles’ dismissal in the wake of the sexual assault scandal in the football program, brainstormed together this offseason. When Martin received a release from his BU National Letter of Intent, he turned to Briles for advice, with his former coach advising him that Auburn would be “a great fit.”

“He helped me — I still have a great relationship with him,”
Martin told 247Sports.com. “He just told me Auburn is a great fit for me with Coach Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff. He said if I was going to Baylor and he was there, it would be the same type of vibe (as at Auburn). He told me Coach Gus would take care of me. He said with him, it’s about the player, about the university.

“And shoot, he’s an offensive guru.”

A four-star 2016 prospect, Martin will be eligible to play for said guru’s squad this coming season.

Son, if you don't want to play for a school with questionable character, look at Auburn.
